Bring it over here next year and I'll give you a 30% OFC discount off what you paid this year... I'll even throw in the antifreeze and do your livewells! Doesn't sound like they touched those.... so you'd better have a good look for water in them! (btw I'm joking on the price!) Next year run stabil through your gas when you think it might be your last trip out. That would skip that part and the engine running. Better it has sat before draining anyhow instead of running the oil through the motor one last time. My Verado has to have sat idle for over an hour before removing the oil filter...

..Time for me to stop building and servicing aircraft for $65/hr....
-
Okay, so they did 4.5 hours of work... what was included in the service? Did they do spark plugs? Did they check valve clearances, etc or simply change the oils and possibly fog the engines? Did they put antifreeze thru the livewells or at least vacuum / blow the lines and pumps out?
-
$130/hr in the marine industry doesn't go far for the consumer + materials ! I do my 275 Verado and 9.9 kicker. An hour tops to do both upper and lower unit oils and while they're draining I do the water separator filter on the Verado and the fine fuel filter on both. Another 30 minutes or so has the antifreeze through the live wells and power washer. Oil for Verado... $100 Oil filter $14.. Fuel filters about $50. Lower unit oil is $24.95/ qt now... so $50 there. = about $200 in materials. Would leave you about 3.5 hours labour you paid for. What all did they do for you??

"does it count against the net man"... certainly not or Terry would always be over his limit !!

Only damage there Josh would be to your wallet and any animals that lick up the spills.

A small amount of Total coliform is pretty normal... any E coli found and entered on the report by the health unit is not! Drilled well should have been cemented in around the top to stop ground water from getting down the casing sides... make sure the ground is well humped around the well head and then follow the "shocking" instructions on Health Canada's website and retest.
-
Which makes me think and ask Chris... are you getting a TOTAL coliform reading from the health unit or an actual E coli reading?
-
Health Canada.... "The presence of total coliform bacteria in well water is a result of surface water infiltration or seepage from a septic system. According to Health Canada'sGuidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality (Sixth Edition, 1996), drinking water should not contain more than 10 total coliform bacteria per 100 mL of water. Any water containing more than this amount should be resampled. If the repeat sample contains more than 10 total coliform bacteria per 100 mL, corrective action should be taken immediately." Under 10 TOTAL coliform is considered safe to drink... 2 or 3 is a normal well.... not to be confused with actual E coli reading that should yes be zero.

I'll have to dig up the picture... my son fishing at Kelso in Milton when he was 2 years old (and we had him tied to a tree ! lol). Gave him an ice fishing rod and he could bring them in on his own. Same deal with my nephews and nieces.. I taught them all how to fish on the dock in Temagami from 2 to 3 years old and they could reel them in themselves with the spincast push button reels.

Emil's been showing us how that works for years!

My wife grew up on Sturgeon Bay... from 1965 on. Her father bought the property with 300 feet of front yard in those years. When I first went there in '82 there was about 80 feet of front yard because the water was so HIGH and everyone was complaining something was wrong on the great lakes. Last year it returned to about the same 300 feet of front yard and everyone was complaining the water was LOW. It's now back to 80 again. -

Exactly Terry.. why I asked why his well has a high ppm count to start with. We take lake water in Temagami.. coarse filter... FOUR foot UV light and a ceramic filter and have ZERO total coliform count. My 185 ft drilled well here at home as a constant 2 or 3 ppm count. The odd bug is good for you!
-
The only thing that's going to eliminate would be a UV light... and then a fine ceramic filter to get the dead "bugs".
-
Real question is, why does your well have E coli in it. Most wells have a low number part/million that is no real issue, but are you above what is safe to drink to start with? If so time to figure out why, especially if some javex down the well won't cure the problem.

95% of you will get by just fine with pulling the boat out and putting it away... however be damn sure to have a look at how your pump outlet lines feed your livewell from the transom thru hull pump before you take the gamble. Many drop down from the pump to the hull bottom and then up to the livewell (trapping water there). I'd rather waste an hour and $5 on antifreeze than have your boat sink in the spring. The marina put a Lund 1950 Tyee in out of storage this spring for a customer... he arrived shortly after it had hit the water, loaded his family and all their belongings and headed up the lake to their island. Tied up, unloaded and went about getting their place in order. He went down to the dock the next morning to find it hanging tight on the ropes, floating level flotation. Gas powered pump to float it again, tow to marina, extract from lake and we found his front livewell pump had almost cracked off completely. As I've shown before... I feed both of mine (as well as the power washer) with a hose and funnel and then cap the intake ports so the system is water tight for late fall Muskie fishing. Then when it's finally storage time I pull the caps to make sure no water did get back in.

LOL Paul.. thanks guys, it only took me about 3 weeks @ 7 days a week, 7 hours a day. Great mind distraction! Leah's a bit scared though... as I still have some hill left beyond the top of the current 173 feet of slide! -

Nope.. no illusions here! Same docks in both pictures, you can see the ramp to the floating dock in the first picture and note it's up hill now. Here's a shot when I plowed the ramp in Dec 2009.. -

Thanks guys... back on the road we go. Mt Sinai Monday to see her Medical Oncologist... Doctor conference Tuesday (between Sunnybrook / St. Mike's / Mt Sinai) and then Sunnybrook Wednesday to see her Radiation Oncologist. From there, what ever plan they've put together... At least we all got a full summer in this year, for some much needed RnR, and Jennifer actually got to have some fun on the little water slide that I built for her at the lake. -

Nov 2007 level. Note the bumper board below the dock.. off the bow of the boat. This board is now over 4" below the water. Level is up 2.5 feet since 2007. Back to about normal... the ramp to the floating dock is now uphill ! -
Been on the Bay for over 32 years now, tried to tell those that would listen it was cyclic ! 100's of thousands of dollars spent on "what do we do" meetings, in every Georgian Bay town and city, and nature took care of it on it's own.
