  1. Yep.. the other dude's that he get's put in with will be asking for addresses and phone numbers for when they get out. Feed him to the hogs...it's what he deserves.
  2. If the alternator diodes can handle a full batteries available current and not blow...feeding it another alternators output ain't gonna hurt it. Consider..do you disconnect your alternator when you throw a charger on your batteries?
  3. DANG... only 15 days til I start shopping. Gives me about 4 hours... should be good!
  4. Geez.. never took that many beer to cut and wrap in my old man's shop. What the hell were we doin wrong? LOL Great way to cut the winter grocery bill Chris.
  5. Nope...it's dumb.. but it's fact. We have no border "customs" between provinces and if it's shipped out of province the vendor does not have to charge provincial taxes..unless it's an HST province... and why they are pushing to get that HST across the board. Shop in Quebec or Alberta. We/vendors in Ontario can ship to any province without charging PST.
  6. Nice report Lew and was great fishin with you this year. Three times I believe... with enough fish on one outing to cover the 2 skunks! LOL
  7. As for the high thrust... it's geared LOWER yes..just like my 9.9 pro kicker. That said.. mine is barely off idle pushing my boat at 1.8 MPH At that speed it doesn't put out enough electical power to keep up with my hydraulic steering pumps drain + the Lowrance so I have to disconnect the power feed to the hydraulic pump. It does stay nicely ahead of the radio/Lowrance/etc though and will keep you charged.
  8. Sure keeping them seperate is the easiest solution. Just be sure to, like they've said, carry a jumper cable long enough to connect them if you kill your main battery trolling for too long with the kicker as you can' t just step out and restart a boat like this...
  9. It's hard to help in text Emil and why I've left this alone. We don't know how much battery room you have in the boat. Each motor should have it's own battery...and the gas motors should have STARTING batteries.. not deep cycle batteries. What I would do is buy a new pair of starting battery to use on your main motor and kicker and buy one of the isolators that Terry pointed out. If you really feel you need to charge that electric trolling motor battery then buy the 3 bank isolator. In my opinion, as keram has pointed out, you are asking for trouble sooner or later trying to do them all. Take the deep cycle you now have for a starting battery and put it in parallel with the existing trolling motor battery and buy an on board charger for them. What I would do... 2 bank isolator off the big motors alternator output. Then the outputs off the isolator go to each starting battery. This way when you are running around the lake the big motor..with a higher output alternator..charges both your main and kicker starting batteries up. All your accessories that you will be running while trolling with the kicker should be hooked to the kickers battery. That way you won't kill your main motors starting battery while using the kicker... IE the way the din ks at Lund had mine hooked up when I got it ! Can't believe you didn't comment on my lad with the knife picture! LOL
  10. I also find it interesting that the line counter version is 3.2 to 1 vs 3.0 to 1 of the plain 209.
  11. Good to know.... funny that LB's is the only one even showing them available. BPS and Cabelas don't show the line counter on their websites. Hopefully LB's has stock as I ordered on line to save a trip and 8% PST. I have 4 x 8-6" TDR's that needed something on them and the 209's work well for downriggin Lakers.
  12. When I saw the squirrel drop in I thought it was Grandman's X back after somethin...
  13. They don't make the line counter in Left hand Glen.. Righty only it appears. Bought them for my guests on the boat that can't reel properly !! LOL
  14. Told the wife you were going Christmas shoppin did ya! LOL Great pics Mike.
  15. Wanted a few (4) "back up" reels to put on the ($14!) TDR trolling rods that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. Very nice to see that Lebaron's is $10 a reel cheaper for Penn 209's than Cabelas or Bass Pro. And considering they are only $50 reels... that's ~20% cheaper! As matter of fact went with the line counter models that just came out (not available BPS or Cabelas) for a dollar less than the plain 209's from Cabelas, without having to bring them across the border..or pay PST (since Lb's ships out of Quebec). That's another $20+ saved right there. Their in store service may lack at times... but they've been there thru and thru for a few decades now. Bought my first ABU MAG II baitcaster there in about 1983 (and it's still going strong I may add). Good to see they intend to stay competitive in the market place. Just wish they'd modernize their on-line ordering system. Looking thru single page PDF's..writting the info down and then filling out their shopping cart list is kinda prehistoric! LOL Now shopping for fishing gear in December may get me in hot water with SWMBO...but what can a guy do when he gets a notion he needs something?
  16. Well I guess that's where all the creepers are... cause the days of christmas coupon was only good for the 5th/6th and 7th.. and they didn't have any at store opening on the 5th in Midland.
  17. Hey.. the dust from working with it every day still gives you Alzheimer's. Now what was the original question.....
  18. They say you can retire from aviation with a bit of money Chris.....you just have to start with a lot.
  19. I've got four float planes in the hangar (3 are customers). I can honestly say I could leave every one of them in the water all season and not worry about them sinking unless they had 2 feet of wet snow on the tail pushing them under. One is on composite floats (that I hate)... the other three riveted aluminum and not one of them leaks a drop. Condensation, from floats sitting in water that's cooler than the air and them being a closed chamber, sometimes needs pumping though! A fair amount of the "pumping" required amongst the floatplane "fleet" is from rain... no different than our boats. Older access hatches and pump out cup plugs can leak in rain water as it hits/runs down the float decks...thus it has to be pumped out. Water at 10lb/gallon can sure eat into your useful load pretty quickly. The ones that do leak are generally WELL used commercial floats that see a thousand hours or more a year (which in say Lakeland Airways Beaver would equate to about 2500 take offs and landings a season based on his short hops). Also consider most commercial floats out there are anywhere from 30 to 60 years old. Many leak issues are from granular corrosion of the extruded chine rails. The majority of their leaking is from ramming into docks/wharfs and their associated sharp points/nails sticking out/etc... not from hitting the water itself. Aircraft floats have the disadvantage of being widest below the water line... not above it like a boat...making bumpers kinda difficult to perfect on numerous docks.
  20. Was the lynx chasin somethin... sure actin strange!
  21. Glad I could save you some work and the cost of a new decal Andy ! LOL Should cover one rod holder for ya!
