  1. Lefty loosy... unless it's a '69 dodges wheel nuts...
  2. It's goin quick though TJ.. neighbours are already stock piling for ice out. Can't use the truck anymore to get to the island.
  3. I'm the other way.. I blow the $100 on oil (now down to $72 with the Verado specific out now) and my plugs are original. They fire fine... they're not electrode worn. Oil takes a beating in a Supercharged engine running 225F oil temps on every run.
  4. What Roy said... if you can hide the screw driver in your shirt.. it's not big enough. I like one with flats for a wrench so you can turn it with the wrench while pushing in against the handle. And then don't do what the last guy did when you snug them back up!
  5. What are you getting scanned Paul?? What's it tell you? I know how many hours are on my motor...it runs fine.. what's the scan tell you? I know more about my Verado than the last two "certifed" Verado techs at the Marina. I had to show the first Verado Certified fella that there IS actually a drain plug for the engine oil.... but I did so after he attemped to suck the reservior dry with a suction gun.
  6. A website on Toronto hotspots TJ... jeezzz.. gonna give away all those secret rivers guys have found in the last 4 years and such??
  7. There's no secret... that's exactly what I told you to do.. push in the shift isolator button and move the throttle forward to 1/3rd for the first try... push the electric choke in and out a few times while cranking.
  8. Great stuff Lew... I rotated and charged all my batteries today and gave all my trailer wheels a good spin and side play rock yesterday. I'm ready to roll when and if the time permits.
  9. Did ya get that kicker running???
  10. I'm presuming so on a 4 stroke 75HP
  11. I have a bottle or three of Crown in the cupboard Mike....
  12. I'm figuring April 30th ice out on Temagami... Algonquin is usually a week earlier..
  13. You can follow me out Darren !!! That'll be the week before Jen's #9 and I plan on being on the water that week. Gonna give the planner mast a whirl this time... BTW.. Midland Harbour is now pretty much ice free after the ice breaker came in to get the grain boat out on the 29th. Heavy rain the other night took care of most of the rest..
  14. Enjoy the time out Kelvin.... a well deserved break for BOTH of you!! lol Glad she's done, hopefully for ever.
  15. The stock market made a gain with all the productivity in Ontario!!!
  16. That's why AFAIConcerned you want a stand alone Marine Policy... you don't want it as part of your house policy like many do. Raf lost his outboard in the fall... you wouldn't think someone would take the time to do that in your laneway.. but they did. So bugger the bolts some how to make them work for YOUR money. Heavy cable lock thru the wheels/over the spring and axle and tuck it in tight so they don't see it. They'll hook up and try to drive away dragging your boat. Useless if they do what the buggers did to Terry with a roll off tilt bed.
  17. Yep.. FULL REPLACEMENT Insurance is your ONLY peace of mind! As for deterant requirements.... there is absolutely nothing in my marine policy that says I have to chain my boat to a railway bridge so they can't tow it away. Where do these myths come from.... Hitch pin and receiver pin locks are useless even if the boat is hooked to your vehicle at the local hotel... they'll unbolt the ball from your receiver and swing the trailer out and just bolt it to their empty receiver and drive off in the middle of the night.
  18. It's just as easy when it's under warrantee... $4 pump from Princess Auto.. $16 quart of High Performance Merc lower unit oil. One $12 oil filter.. and not sure but probably a gallon of Merc outboard oil. Not sure what the EFI takes. Somewhere between $25 and $50 Of course this should have all been done BEFORE winter!
  19. If you want it to flow together and you can find good steel under it... I'd weld 3 I beam's to both existing trailer rails out to where you want the new wall. One beam for each end of the room.. one for the middle. C channel down the front to join the 3 I beams together and then floor joist it as required. 3 support posts, one at each I beam/C channel junction. If you ever have to move it a cut saw with 12 or 14" wheel will "disconnect" it !
  20. Got a letter today... Service Bulletin 2011-03 / OEM Service Bulletin 2011-02 Replacement of the shift bell crank. Your authorized Mercury dealer will replace the shift bell crank and the stud of the upper shift shaft without charge. Reason: Potential for corrosion cracking at the base of the shift control studs of both the shift bellcrank and the upper shift shaft. There are no specifics as to what years this covers, so I'm assuming all of them. My motor is a 2007 - mfg Dec 2006. Great to see Merc sending these out "in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our product". Mine's now out of warranty so they probably don't have to even notify me. So any of you running a Verado.... watch the mail for your letter, as even though it has no serial number/model number or even my name on it... I'm supposed to present it to my dealer for service. So if you need a copy....
  21. I'm still getting my moneys worth Roy... don't you worry at all !
  22. Great stuff Stevie Hamilton.... good to see you posting some pics again!!
  23. Your 8 year old tank... take it to a swap place next time you need propane and get an updated tank (for free).
  24. CPH.. if you have nothing you use propane for then the tanks aren't much use to you, but you could pass them onto family or friends that indeed could use a spare tank for their BBQ or ice fishing expeditions.
