  1. Im not old but the wife says I do have head problems,so, true.I asked afew older gents and the same for them.I think as a friend mentioned, head problems in older fisherman is a case of wifeapissedoffatism. It slowly catchs up with you over the years.
  2. one big fat one, im sure.
  3. Hows this one sound.Going for a swim at the tip of the toe, after going to the fish market. My uncle told me It was okay to swim. Baracudas are plenty, next time Im bringing a spear.I thought I was bait.
  4. I do oppoligize.I should have been more specific when I posted this topic.A pickerel(not a pike),a bluish coloured pickerel(not a pike),no spot on the tail.Eyes were a little different(not gloss eyed or wall eyed)as I recall. But what I do recall is a chain link markings on both sides(not a pike).I have only seen them on the grand in caledonia, about 30 yrs+ ago.Never seen them since.I remember them vividly, and they were small, under a pound.always,as we caught a 2 or so every time,In one particular spot. Please no pike pics, as I do like the pictures, but Im particular to this strain of pickerel.Particularly to this region, and if there still around.,I would love to see a picture,I know there not here in cale. Thanks for everyones input,I loved the pics and pics of picks. And the pike too....
  5. I will stay away from b b m lube then. They say it works like a charm though,as for who?Im not asking, and dont want to know.I ll clean the reels out and lube them with gear oil and a drop lucas additive. That should do it in cold temps. These reels I have at room temp there fine.
  6. My next outing that way,I be looking for petes deals, mainly the high end stuff.Fishing world ussually have really good prices on ht and st croix rods.Ice reels too at times.
  7. abu g stamina drag on my st croix, or ht polaris rod for me.
  8. So thats why my ice reels are jamming up and hard to reel in.I figured an ice reel would be lubed with sub zero grease.Stuppid me as a tech the reels are proably packed with generic grease.Ill try 75w90 syn gear oil,or even 2 stroke winter oil.Slick 50 should do the trick. Ky jelly maybe,I will be fishing for something with those reels, I ll check the home reg and ask the wife if its open season yet.
  9. Amixed bag in the hammer,Aliitle nicer in aldershot sunny and warmer when I got there ,then came the rain. A good day for skie fishing I think.

  11. It was in the mid to late 70s in caledonia where i seen them caught, only in one spot, and small.I havent seen them since.I may ask a friend to get the old pictures out from way back when.Im sure theres a blue pickerel in one of the pictures.
  12. thanks guys,I saw pictures of the accident 2 nights ago. They werent published yet.How devestating just before the holidays.I work as a truck and coach tech working mobile.I fear for myself at times esp on the 401.This picture has me really thinking about what I do for a living.Ive just about soiled myself a few times out there. To you my friend adam I bid you farewell, and allow god to bless your soul.Rest in peace my friend.Vince
  13. Did you run the motor without the ears or in a pail?If you ran it for a breif moment wiyhout any water etc, youll burn in up quickly.Or even if you ran aground and picked sand and dirt.Mine went right away when I first got the boat,2nd outing.I replaced it.about $25 bucks for the impeller, plus gear oil.And I also replace the thermostat at the same time.Try calling dewilt honda in hamilton and ask for young dan in parts, ask for his advice, they will guide you in the right path for waranty issues.hes an awesome guy to deal with, and extremely honest.I know for a fact.Thats where I go for mercruiser parts. And no I dont work there.
