Saturday both I and albert headed off to long point, first for a fill of perch and some piking My heart was set on pike, but I wasnt the captain JK hthm
We were on the perch like there was no tomorow, double headers and lots of followers.
I did manage to nail a few jumbos, but we mainly kept catching the little guys.
Towards the end of the day, I decided to cast for pike while albert was committed to perching. Within 5 casts I caught one, nothing special, but it counts
We caught a few rockies, a ton of perch, one oos bass, and a hammer handle
Another little surprise that showed up was our own ofner Dan B, Always nice to him
Sunday rolled around and over a pm , my good friend spincast asked me for a day out on lake O, I couldnt resist. I snapped the shackles and off we went.
Starting off trolling in the ussual spots ,we headed deeper and deeper and deeper This was odd, we were marking them but with no interest of inhailing the georgeous lures we had We had two lines that went off, but on the other end, their mouths must have softened up Oh well its was a great and relaxing day out with another good freind
The bonus after I got home was that I installed the starter in my boat, tinkered with a few other things and my engine finally purred like a kitten
We will see what day 3 will bring me while out on the water
An added measure I did with the marine plywood I installed in my boat. Was that I coated the plywood with fiberglass resin for extra protection. Solid as a rock.
Ok, for the techs, I have another question for you guys. When I replaced my started, the #s on the old one matched up at the auto supply shop and they had one in stock . Great I took it and cheap, not thinking at the time, that some put an automotive one in .
Now here is where it gets interesting. I pulled the 2yr old starter out an the housing is cracked, great, no problem! So I googled my engine for a starter # Then I went to double check the teeth on the gear. On most sites the advertised an 11 tooth but I counted mine its a 9 tooth
Could this have caused it to crack? I dont have the formula in front of me and I know I have counted the ring gear teeth and wrote it down somewhere, just in case 3 yrs ago.
From what I do recall the serial # starts with a 3. Which makes it an earliar model engine. For about a decade that engine uses the same starter. One short and one long bolt.
Thanks in advance
V
If you can find the clouds of baitfish on your ff, them Im sure that are there. But in all my years of fishing there, my pb is 9 lbs. But that was many moons ago. Ive caught a few others as well much smaller. But there is plenty food for them. So your chances are slim as to catching one.
There a lots of decent size bass and crappy in there as well.
My biggest thing is, is that the park doesnt open early enough. Heres a ff pic that fustrated me for a while one day last year
So there you go Skinny, your tinner runs fine and gets up to speed without any hesitation. And it trolls nicely and steady at the target speed I was looking for
Why mess up a good thing.
If your looking for more speed, then a prop change up would be ideal. But then again you would be up a little in the trolling speed.
Leave it as it is, its not a race boat
My boat with gear and two people, 40 mph. But I only want 30mph for the engines sake.
If its any help, ive fished with a dora, and a barbie rod. And seeing a fish on the other end for the kids see is They were too scared to hurt the little fishy
hopefully this helps, not the best pic. But everyone with there sonars mistaken them for perch on their screens and thought the line bumps were hits Mind you there were perch in the vacinity laying very low
Thats why I like my aquaview
The hole is 10 inchs, that will give you an indication of its size. Other than that to settle differences on what we call this little critter, I say alewife because they can be annoying at times
