‘Monster’ albino wels catfish may be largest ever caught. British angler Bernie Campbell just fulfilled a seven-year goal of catching a rare albino wels catfish, but little did he dream that when he finally hooked one and landed it, he would also land a world's record along with it! This whopper, caught in the River Ebro, near Barcelona, Spain, comes in at around 2.5 metres long, and tips the scales at over 93 kilograms. It isn't officially the world's largest just yet, but according to the UK Daily Mail, that's roughly 4.5 kg more than the albino catfish caught by fellow Briton Phil Hilton in 2012. "We have had two or three big albino catfish out of the river, but none that has topped 200 pounds," said John Deakin from CatMaster Tours, according to the UK Daily Mail. "Albino catfish of that size are very rare indeed. This is the biggest we've ever seen. It was a very special fish." Campbell, along with his son, Gary, prop up the incredible fish for display.[ More Geekquinox: 2013 on track to be one of the top 10 warmest years on record ] According to anglers, the albino wels catfish is very rare and especially sought after as trophy fish. Albinism is a rare genetic condition that affects all species of vertebrate (those with a backbone), resulting in a lack of melanin in their body, and thus they have no colouration in their skin, hair or fur, and eyes. Campbell told the Daily Mail that he'd been traveling to Spain for seven years to catch catfish, but although it had always been a goal to catch an albino one, they'd eluded him until now. It took him a 'shattering' 30 minutes of fighting to get the fish on shore, during which, he said, it nearly pulled him into the water four times. Once he'd reeled it in, though, and had his unbelievable experience, as well as both photographic evidence and an official weigh-in of the monster, he did the honourable thing and let the catfish go. "The record could stand for 10 minutes or it could stand for 10 years," he told the Daily Mail. "But for me it’s going to take a long time to beat this fish."

I went on my honeymoon to Aruba back in September. We had an amazing time. It is such a beautiful place. We did a charter fishing trip one of the days and got into some Mahi Mahi. It was crazy to think that in 600 feet of water we were trolling dead bait along the surface. Here are some pics. The captain filleted some fish for us and we had a local restaurant right there near the dock cook it up for us. They cooked half of it sweet and sour and half white wine and garlic flavor. It was delicious. As fresh as it gets.

Possible world record size moose shot in Yukon CBC News Posted: Oct 16, 2013 6:31 PM CT Last Updated: Oct 16, 2013 8:59 PM CT Dawson City hunter Heinz Naef shot a huge bull moose last month that he thinks might be the largest one ever harvested. Hunter Heinz Naef shot what he believes could be the largest moose ever harvested in Yukon last month. (Photo courtesy Brian Naef) Naef shot the giant moose where the Stewart River meets the Yukon River on Sept. 25. He says it took him a while to realize just how big the animal was. But after measuring it, he now believes it just might have set a world record. "It didn't set in until we were in the midst of butchering the animal," Naef says. "It's not the first big moose we have but we didn't realize how big it actually was until I put the tape on him and measured him, then it was really big." 560 kilogramsNaef estimates the moose weighs more than 560 kilograms — that's more than 1250 pounds. The current world record, as judged by a series of antler measurements, is held by a moose that was shot on the Alaskan side of the border. He measures the antlers at 75 and 1/4 inches (191 centimetres), which would be a record. But they often shrink in the drying process. Official measurement rules say the antlers have to be dried for two months before they can be officially recorded. Heinz says he hunts for meat and has no interest in the antlers, so if they turn out to be a world record size, Naef would like to see them displayed in public.

I am currently doing some research for an ice fishing trip this season. I would like to go to Lake Abitibi but I can't find any ice hut operators on the lake. Does anyone know of any hut rentals and accommodations on this lake? I heard there was a ice bungalow operator on this lake a few years ago but I heard he closed his business. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Take a look at this video. I can't figure it out. Is it fake? I thought that it might have been reversed but it doesnt look like it. If it is real what could be the reason this is happening? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFIzu02NXLo

If your looking at Gbay make sure there is water up to the dock. Water levels are crazy low.

Thats weird. I bought the same red hots on sale at Basics the other day and mine had 12 in the package. -
You can taste it. The bacon I used was kind of thick this time. Usually I use normal bacon. The bacon shrivels up when it is cooked. Saltyness of the bacon, sweetness of the perch and tangy bbq sauce. Mmmmmm.

Decided to go fishing on Saturday. Got there as the sun was beginning to rise. The winds were calm and it was a decent temp to be out on the ice. The first half km walk out was brutal as it was mostly pack ice and was very jagged. after that the ice was surprisingly a lot better. There was 5+ inches of ice in most spots. The bite was off and on for the time I was there. I managed to take home 8 perch all 10+ inches with the biggest being about 12 inches. Even caught a Herring which was released. I fished for about 4 hours as I had to be back home for an afternoon appointment. It was a great day and a good start to my ice fishing season. And a tasty one.

Im planning on going to Virginia Beach tomorrow. I've seen video reports of 5 inches although it varies in spots. I will be following the crowds and spudding my way out just to be safe. I will report my findings and Jumbos (hopefully) tomorrow.
