  1. I have a couple of rods that I love, but noticed that the finish is chipped. What do people use as a repair to bring their rods back to life? Does the rod have to be sanded before applying anything or do you just coat over top of the chips? Thanks
  2. We caught most of the fish on a jig with a twister tail. (bass and trout) The trout we caught in basically 6 - 20 feet of water.
  3. Yes, we actually know the wintering spot and go back every year for the end of season bonanza. It still doesn't make sense to me on such a small lake, then again, I'm not a fish. They are in the feeding mode though.
  4. What a mess. They need to let the assistant go if he has lost the ear of the players. The players should be called to the mat on this also.

    Mepps

Mepps used to be the only thing in my tackle box when I was a kid, other than a Jitterbug and Zara Spook. I didn't realize you trout guys were still using them. I do remember my brother catching a rainbow on one when no one else could catch a cold on that day.
  6. That's not good....I hope everything is okay.
  7. I hear you, unfortunately these small lakes usually don't have more than a graded area to launch, probably why we were the only ones out there fishing. I need to get bigger boots....LOL
  8. One other thing. The day was very nice, but I had to remove my shoes and socks when pulling the boat out. It was a little deeper than the boots I had with me. Man, was that ever cold, I could feel the burning start within a couple of minutes. I sure as heck would not want to fall in the water, life jacket or not.....
  9. Funny, that's what my buddy was supposed to be doing and I pulled him away from it.
  10. You can always try Big Brothers Big Sisters. They could pass them on to one of their mentors who enjoys fishing with their little brother or little sister. Just a thought.
  11. Canadian hockey fans. Lots of passion to go around on this thread. LOL
  12. Well, a buddy and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather on Sunday and hit one of our favorite small lakes. We were targeting largemouth bass, but got into a couple of other species as well. Funny how the largemouth were all caught within probably a couple hundred feet of each other. We couldn't catch one anywhere else on the lake. We did get into between 20 and 30 largemouth, so that was fun. Nothing huge, but something pulling on the end of the line is better than nothing. A twister tail was the go to bait for the day. We also got into 4 lakers and only one smallie, which was strange, because we usually do alright with drop shotting for smallies. Not this day though. I hope everyone else had a chance to take advantage of the nice day!
  13. Can't imagine the feeling.......
  14. LOL...when you find out how to get them let us know. I always believe that they look for some constant temperature, so I don't usually fish shallow for them. My experience also told me that there are short periods of time throughout the day when they bite. This is my experience in the Kawarthas and I don't target them anymore there because I suck at it. LOL In smaller lakes, I usually find a wintering spot and they are bunched up near some deeper water where they can go shallow if they want. I usually catch large numbers in these spots. 8-10 feet deep with 25'+ close by.
  15. Nice to see the different colour patterns on the fish from your neck of the woods. Beauty fish!
  16. LOL, he did pretty good to avoid being sunk considering he is supposed to be drunk.
  17. LOL, I didn't say he was a super star. I don't see our fourth line lighting it up, so a guy like that can't really hurt the team too bad. Ultimately, some mobile big wingers and D-men would be nice, the team isn't drafting that way though from what I see. I guess we can't have everything we want!
  18. I agree, but those kind of players aren't easy to find. Teams that have them don't want to let them go, unless of course we might offer up Nylander, even then it's a tough sell.
  19. Yeah, I always thought Matt Martin was a more talented tough guy. I was actually surprised when he was benched last year.
  20. Who is the toughest guy n the Leafs? Josh Leivo???? Kadri????
  21. Or keep his head up in that area.
  22. nice to see a fishing post! Thanks.
  23. I hear what you're saying, but Crosby went through the same stuff for a number of years. We can only hope he gets through this and puts it in the past.
  24. It sure looked like he knew exactly what it was.
