  1. Check the Walmart marked down section.
  2. Have any of you ever stayed at Knight's Beach (east of Long Point)? I looking at staying there later in the summer. Not sure if they have a place to dock the boat though.
  3. thanks, I'm leaning towards staying at "At Play" as well. The place looks very clean and being able to dock my boat is a must. This summer I plan to stay at different places overnight more often because of the price of gas and I also find it tiresome to trailer the boat several times a week.
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a cottage/trailer to stay in for a few days at Long Point. I would need a place that also allows me to dock my boat. I am aware of the Provincial Park, but I don't want to pull my boat out of the water each day. I've also looked into "At Play" cottages and that's a possibility. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
  5. Own a 167 Princecraft Pro Series and it's a great boat. Lots of room, very stable and excellent storage. Before this boat I owned a 142 Princecraft and it was also a great boat. I just wanted a larger boat with more power. If you keep your eyes open you can get a really good deal. My 167 is a 1997 with a barely used 70 HP and I got it for $6000 !!!!
  6. I have the exact same evinrude motor. Good motor, but use ethanol free gas only - higher grade. Anytime you plan on not using the motor for a couple of weeks disconnect the fuel hose and run it till it stalls and the fuel is out of the system. Winterize properly. It will be a great, dependable motor if you keep up with those things.
  7. I got the same letter in the mail for I boat I had already sold to someone else. I didn't pay and haven't heard or received anything else, yet ! That was last year.
  8. Costco is the way to go. Much better prices.
  9. I've had the white river ones from BPS for 4 years and they are still in great condition. I do a lot of wading. They have a very solid toe and heel for support. Around $80.
  10. The only spinning reels I buy now are stradics. They're just great reels.
  11. Interesting find. If you are from Hamilton you should make a drive to Burlington. On Brant St. (south of QEW) is a military memorabilia store. I've been there before (I'm a history teacher:) and they have a lot of interesting things that they receive and send world wide. They will be able to give you an assessment of the value and may buy it as well. Worth checking out. http://www.emedals.ca/location.asp Let us know what it's worth.
  12. Lucky's Sons out of Lefroy - they're great. Been with them a number of times
  13. Another thing to consider is the refresh rate of the screens. Basically, which reacts quicker after you move the map. Some can take a little longer. I have a Lowrance Mark X gps/finder combo and am happy with that, but would have go the DSI if it was available at that time. This series is priced quite reasonably considering what you all get. Definitely go with colour.
  14. I only buy Stradics now. They are the best reel for the money. Super smooth, light and they cast great. You won't be disappointed.
  15. Was fishing for some fall smallmouth on my favorite river when something a lot larger hit ! Pretty quickly I knew this was a steelhead. It put up a great fight. A nice surprise on a beautiful day. 26 - 27 inches, so I'm thinking 7 - 8 pounds.
  16. Have a 94 S10 4x4 with the 4.3. Love the truck (going strong at 372!), but not great on gas. Colorado or Canyon worth looking at?
  17. You have to pay tax on the trailer right away at the MTO. That's why on the bill of sale it should always be listed as a very low price. The boat is through service canada. I actually got a tax bill from service canada for my old boat after I had sold it. I'm just ignoring it for now. They probably won't send me another update for another 5 years anyways !
  18. Maximum Marine is great. They tend to be more reasonably priced as well.
  19. Oh ya, the grey knob on the left changes the speed from 1 all the way to 5. You can change this with your foot as well.
  20. Used to have one of these. It's cable system steering. Meaning you tilt your foot on it forwards and backwards and that rotates the head of the trolling motor, thus charging it's direction. The grey rectangular button is for acceleration. Pressing it makes the propeller go. The red switch changes the motor from continuous acceleration to non-continuous modes. Continuous mode is only good for lengthy trolling. Make sure you buy a 40 amp breaker. Sometimes these models can overheat. Hope that helps !
  21. Nice fish ! Was this out of Crystal Beach? If there's a website for the tournament please post it.
  22. Put the bounce sheets throughout including in any storage compartments. Same thing with the moth balls only put 5 - 10 moth balls in tiny mesh type bags. I cut up an old onion sack and make the tiny mesh bags out of this (use a twist tie to secure the bags). I'll then throw these bags with the moth balls inside throughout the boat. Better too much than too little !
  23. Do you plan to trailer the boat with the cover? If so, you will need a boat cover that fits snug. If you are just looking for something to cover your boat for the winter I would probably go with the tarp and save some money. Not all the bps or cdn tire covers are fully waterproof whereas a good tarp is. For my old boat I used to put a tarp over it in the winter with a rope tied tight around the entire boat. This way the tarp is tight to hull all the way around. Make sure you put lots of moth balls and bounce sheets in the boat before storage to keep the mice out.
  24. Good advice. Thicker wire and a breaker will do the job. Tried it once with slightly thinner wire and without a breaker - not recommended !
