  1. I have the Elite 5 (great deal) and am happy with it, but if you have the coin to get the HD do it. The higher res. and bigger screen size would be nice.
  2. I would suggest going with a guide first. That's the best way to familiarize yourself with the area.
  3. Like stated earlier the stocking map from the MNR on Hwy. 28 will help you the most.
  4. Great video. I mostly fish Erie with tubes and haven't drop-shotted too much. I think setting the hook the way Frank said will help a lot.
  5. The Shimano Caenan is apparently a good baitcaster for starting off. Heard good reviews.
  6. Any thoughts on the newer Nissan Frontiers? This is also something I would consider.
  7. Are you talking about the Ford Escape or the Colorado? Thanks.
  8. Thanks for all the help guys. Lots of good info.
  9. In the summer I'm towing for an hour to Erie twice per week, then up north a few times as well. My commute to work is around 15 minutes.
  10. The Tacoma's are really nice, but quite expensive... However, they go forever and need to be repaired less. A bit out of my budget though up front.
  11. I like the look of the 2008 and newer Ford Escapes. That would be an option too.
  12. Hi Everyone, I'm looking at getting a new truck. I currently have a S10 4x4 which is nearing 400,000 k's. It's been a great truck, but it's old and I'm getting killed on gas. I'm looking into getting a colorado/canyon. 4x4 is a must; I really like the z71 models. They have the inline 5 cyl. and a 4 cyl., not interested in the 8 cyl. My boat is a 167 Princecraft pro with weight in total (including motor, battery etc.) a max of 1100 pounds. Would a 4 cyc. Colorado be able to tow my boat? I'm really trying to limit my gas money - like everyone else. Any advice would be appreciated. Zeeter
  13. Wow ! Thanks, guys. You saved me some time. I'll have to find another place to go on.
  14. Hey Guys, Anyone been to Mountsberg lately? How is the water level? Has the reservoir filled up a bit from the summer?
  15. Hi Everyone, My friends and I are looking to book a muskie charter on Lake St. Clair this fall. I'm interested in hearing the experiences you've had with some of the muskie charters. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
  16. This will solve your problem for line twist from drop-shotting. Just came out at iCast. It's called the "spin-shot" by VMC. http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/news/vmc-spin-shot-wins-best-terminal-tackle-117997.aspx
  17. Is it possible that the rim is bent from hitting a pot hole really hard? I've got the same problem. I replace the bearings and repacked everything with grease, but the tire still wobbles.
  18. Bancroft is a very good bass area. Your best bet is to pick up a map from the MNR on HWY 28. They have a map that lists all the fish in the different lakes throughout the area. It is primarily a bass area, not too many walleye or pike in the area with the exception of Baptiste Lake and its connecting lakes. Use the map to find smaller lakes off old logging rods and you will do very well for bass.
  19. I was in a similar situation last year looking for a combo unit that wouldn't break the bank. After a lot of research I decided on the Lowrance Elite 5 - Gold. This is a gps/sonar combo. You have the option of purchasing the unit with a navionics card, but I decided not to get one. The unit has a base map with it for the Lake Erie which I fish the most. The base map is pretty good. I'm very happy with the unit. The total cost was around $550. This is a very good price for a solid combo unit. Hope that helps ! 20. Like MSP said the one right off HWY 28 is an easy place to launch from.
  21. Is that a fast or extra-fast tip?
  22. Hey Guys, Looking into getting a spinning rod specifically for senkos. Preferably I'd like a bit of a longer rod and medium/heavy. I've been looking at a St. Croix Avid, Shimano Compre or a mid-range Loomis rod. Any suggestions on what you like? It will be paired with a Stradic.
  23. Hey. I have an Olympus 710 and it's okay, but I think there are better weather proof models out there. I just bought a DSLR camera and the below website helped me in my research. It might help you find the right camera for your needs. http://dpreview.com/
