  1. Sorry to hear Dan, your stepdad sounded like a pretty interesting individual.
  2. My thoughts are with you, your dad and the rest of your family Mike.
  3. Hey great post and cool video! (If I had to guess I'd say pen reared escapees on Georgian Bay )
  4. You sir are a true character, love it!
  5. Definitely sad to hear, very tragic loss for everyone involved. Makes me curious as to the circumstances though. I've ice fished Kamaniskeg for lake trout many times over the years. One of the best and most popular spots is right where the Madawaska River flows into the lake. Many locals put huts out there just south of the river mouth where there's usually open moving water all water long. Some even drive out with vehicles as there's a public boat launch with easy lake access right there. Honestly it never ceased to amaze me...
  6. For abrasion resistance and overall durability I like Maxima Ultragreen. If you're looking for a very limp line for finesse applications my favourite is Stren Magnathin in moss green.
  7. Nice report, thanks for taking the time to post!
  8. Looks like a lot of fun, thanks for posting!
  9. Nice report Steve! Question for ya though... Over the years I've caught a whack of whitefish in Nippissing, it really is a great and underutilized fishery.. Anyhow, the few I have kept to eat have always been infested with worms, really grossed me out. How were the ones you guys kept? Just curious.. Cheers, Mike
  10. Cabelas Guidewear hands down in my humble opinion. Get the bib pants as well, they're worth their weight in gold when you're sitting in a boat all day.
  11. I'd probably take my wife out to dinner, that's a pretty good suggestion. Or maybe donate it to the fishing for Tyler fundraiser that OFC is organising..
  12. No matter how old they get they're still your kids right?, this must be hard for you Lorissa. Still you can't help but be proud. Here's to the safe return of your son to his family and please tell him THANK YOU! Mike
  13. For those that use the Q.E.W. between Hamilton and Niagara the skyway bridge is currently closed in both directions due to the high winds. Huge backlog in both directions... The Red Hill Creek expy up to the link then to the 403 will get you around it (and vice-versa).
  14. Wow, flew from Hamilton to Thunder Bay to ice fish? Go big or go home eh? LOL! Great pic's looks an awesome trip!
  15. Just got in from my overnight shift at the weather office. Wow, just crazy! Temp's actually rose to a high of 8C by midnight... The pressure was dropping like a bomb all night though and between 3 and 4am the cold front finally moved in and the temp went from 7.9C to -4C. Precip changed from intermittent rain showers to heavy snow showers almost instantly and the wind went went from south at 10 knots to southwest 25 gusting to 45 knots! Talk about a flash freeze! On the way home through Ancaster multiple traffic lights were out and trees were down everywhere! If you're commuting careful on the drive today!
  16. My honest opinion, it's just a spool of line, let it go...
  17. I've been there twice, once at Leuenberger's lodge, the 2nd time at Timberidge's outpost. Great lake for sure...
  18. Hey nauti, I would imagine you'll be seeing a lot more wildlife in the near future . Is your latest project still a reality? Hope so. As far as the vid goes it looks more like a coyote to me... Cheers, Mike
  19. Me too. To be more specific the delta area of the Bad River. Unreal scenery and even better fishing .
  20. Congrat's Cliff and as you know I can relate, LOL! Joanne and I literally on the spur of the moment bought 2 new vehicles ourselves recently. I love searching for deals and checking out cars so that part was fun. Selling the 2 old ones is a huge pain though .
  21. Sweet boat Mike, but you know for the price of some marine plywood, carpeting, some hatch covers a small bilge pump and some elbow grease you could've retrofitted the SSV the way you wanted. (I love the SSV's, big fan ). Did you trade it in? If not I'd be happy to take it off your hands!
  22. Wow, cool! I think I've got a better understanding now how the pyramids were built.
