  1. Sshhh! (there's a great opportunity there if one has a small cartopper or pontoon....)
  2. Cross lake is teeming with lakers. I've only ever ice fished it but we always did very well. Beautiful lake with almost no development, if you can get your boats in there go for it.
  3. Thanks, always wondered about Carson lake.
  4. You're seriously upset? HAHAHA! Craig that was pretty interesting thanks! (My guess was sockeye)
  5. Wow bud you said you'd been busy....you weren't kidding! Nice vehicle and great job on the pond and encloseure!
  6. Hey Jason it was maximum strength Cortaid. (We should talk btw)
  7. Thanks Simon. I'm definitely no photographer, it's just the law of averages with me that some pic's have to turn out good. In any case it's an Olympus Stylus 790SW. Not a bad camera at all and the reason I bought it, it's Mike proof. (shock proof and waterproof so I can't break it)
  8. As a kid I remember bouncing around my parents station wagon like a ping pong ball on long trips, sitting wherever was most comfortable. Times sure have changed.
  9. Mike based on the description of the wear on your rod it's most likely the gloss coat on the blank that's chipped off. It won't hurt the rod at all. Many (if not all) of the higher end rods today are matte finish and have no gloss coat at all. If you're worried about it you can carefully brush some clear epoxy over the spot. Your reel could likely use a good cleaning and lubing.
  10. Once again thanks for the comments everyone. I had some cortisone based cream with my and it seemed to work. By lunchtime the swelling was mostly gone. That's some pretty heady praise, thanks Craig. You're right about the sandpiper, that's all my daughter talks about. She chases after all the birds in our backyard now trying to catch them.
  11. Unless the gear was purchased online your best bet is to bring the broken rod back to the local dealer where you bought it. As far as dealing directly with rod manufacturers regarding warranty no one can touch St. Croix. (And yeah I've never been a fan of Aikmens either)
  12. Nice job on The Little Woody Jacques! Here's mine, it's 14 inches long and has an incredible action. I call it THE BIG BONER.
  13. That was great Simon, well done!
  14. I believe the reserve is not too far down stream from Bala. Definitely no camping there....
  15. The way I figure it Nissan must have hired the guy who designed the Element for Honda after they fired him. That said I own a Nissan and love it. It's likely a good reliable choice...
  16. Yes the marine grade oil is formulated for engines that rev higher and run hotter.
  17. Thanks to all, some very kind words. Jason you made Joanne smile after a pretty tough day today, that's a very nice thing to say, thank you.
  18. Unless you're a non resident of ON there's nothing to research. Pick a spot and go.
  19. Thanks bud, and yeah I did a little better than Billy. Wish someone would have filmed him spinning like a top crashing off the rocks LOL! I didn't mention this in my report 'cause I had no pic's...but Dan's bro in law Richard stumbled onto a glory hole for walleye in his canoe. You know the island with the marked campsite where I got out for a second? In and around there. Just putzing around with worm harnesses he nailed over 30, all much larger than the ones sitting in the current. Hope your search is going well and if you're game there's a pretty wicked brook trout trip on tap over labour day weekend.
  20. Hehe! They're great boats I love 'em! Actually Chris what flashed through my mind in a milisecond was "Will Joanne kill me if I buy another $350 rod and reel?"......then I jumped. Still have to get you up there bud...
  21. Thanks everyone it really was a great trip. After mulling over the lifejacket comments I'm willing to concede the point.
