  1. what a career. imagine having that cat at your dinner party.... rest in peace..legend in journalism
  2. hmmm, my motor is a 2006 johnson from michagan. i had warranty repair no problem in hamilton @ bay city..... but i have heard this is the exception - i think craig ritchie is pretty up on this issue...
  3. if i had a shop, i wouldn't tie up a hoist and a mechanic for 20. surprised so many places are willing to do this.
  4. i wouldn't have brought it up - glad someone did... the past tense is "I SAW" not "I SEEN".
  5. the other idea that came up is, if you have a mean stereo in yer boat, start playing the loudest, most obnoxious, offensive lyriced tunes you've got. haven't done it, don't particularly agree with loud music coming from boats but, im pretty sure the old farts that parked 6 feet from our boat would move when they here what some foul mouthed rapper likes doing to his ladies.... sorry got a little carried away - should have been kept to the garage!
  6. i get the same problem in the perch pack. i never go near it cause quite frankly i like the solitude of being out in the lake. but then the pack starts building around you. i really want to be the bigger man and shut it, but the ignorant behaviour was theirs, not mine. i like to think there is an imaginary radius around you equivalent to your anchor line. its yours. its difficult because i dont own the lake, but its a really big lake, i dont see why boats need to get jammed up in the middle of lake erie. just an idea, stand up on the casting deck, drop your pants and take a 5 minute, 2 large coffees, 8 beers the night before piss(sorry if i can't say that) facing them. if they came out on the lake for some privacy they will likely take that moment to find it...
  7. i used to take them all out of the boat im starting to just leave them in their rod tube 'beds' in the boat. haven't seen any negative effects, plus handling a dozen or so rods, taking them down to the storage room, jamming them in a locker, etc. is just another opportuity to damage them. i dont think they are effected by cold, but storing them clean and oiled is a great tip. nice call on the drag, i had not thought of that before. thanks.
  8. the reference to micheal knight is classic.
  9. it was explained to me that the auto locking doors were provided to prevent intrusions into the vehicle, like a carjacking or something. but the impediment to aiding or rescuing a trapped occupant is obvious, whether you are a bystander or first responder. sinker are you sure you can't disconnect or 'deprogram'this - i could in some of my vehicles but not in others. i find it oddly frustrating that some refer to the seatbelt as causing an injury, but, was it not the accident that caused the injury? the state of florida had an investigation into injuries caused by airbags - broken fingers, noses, abrasions to the face, etc. it was decided these injuries were better than having a steering column sticking out of your back. i tend to agree. let me try to put it another way - if a motorcyclist crashed into a pole and died of head injuries, would we say he was killed by his helmet?
  10. i think tybo really nailed 'er on the head there.
  11. the fishfinder goes crazy under the bridge there every time i go under it. the rod, not so much.
  12. i like kicking frogs analogy -for me a locked post is a safe post! dan you are right guys dont need to get their shorts in a knot. (or "I" dont need to get my shorts in a knot). your posts are never offensive ( i may have stepped in for you once on another site..) to me there is something very condescending about the introduction into a post, the suggestion "give it up guys" or "just go fishing" or "here is winternet". if it doesn't concern you, then why bud in. would you walk up to a bunch of guys sitting at the bar, stroll up to their table and tell them to knock it off? just because you are not interested - or more likely, its not about you? you might if they were childern, but we are not children.
  13. who questioned anyones's credibility? we don't need to start posting resumes here. i questioned your comment about winternet and non fishing posts. a non fishing post that you have made a half dozen posts and written 2 essays in....
  14. well i guess you're right, the millions of people that survive accidents each year were fortunate not to be killed by their seatbelts. probalby just some number cruncher messing with the statistics. and hello to my new friends, and thanks for the PMs.
  15. "dead from wearing their seat belt" ridiculous.
  16. no, he is looking down his nose at the post and the 40 or so guys that have added to it and the 1200 that have viewed it. anything that doesn't meet the exacting standards of the guard is accused of being winternet. interesting take on the football comment, ill give ya that.
  17. likes to talk about seat belts.

  18. if you don't like it don't read it. just because you don't find it interesting doesn't mean you have to crap on it. alot of emergency services and law enforcement people share the site too. they might want to share some experiences and raise some safety issues. you think everyone is interested in plane parts? don't see any of us going after you. you know the geeks that couldn't make the football team said sports were dumb.
  19. lac seul or something like esnagi. northern ontario walleye fishing. id like to do some of these walk ins like get posted here that leave us all in mouth watering walleye and pike envy. i just dont think i have it in me!
  20. i used to work for the unnamed bus company in hamilton. the large articulated buses you see would have over 200 souls on board when school let out. had more passengers than a regional jet - but no seatblets, and over 130 of them would be standing... the rest would be perfecting their graffiti, or smoking weed, or getting pregnant.
  21. thats interesting merc, and a good step. a dvd player is legally reqd to be installed with a lockout that is tagged to the parking brake. an auto installer is actually obligated to include this step, of course joe DIY might just ground this out..
  22. well, unless ya plan on being upside down..... but serioiusly the front of your car is a 6foot crumple zone, the side is a 6 inch crumple zone. the common serioius injury in the side impact is the crushing of the pelvis and hips, but more importantly, the impact of the head striking the window or door pillars. side impact 'curtain' air bags can reduce or eliminate that injury. side impact beams yada yada a big help but its hard to engineer something 6 inches thick to withstand that kind of collision. sounds kinda silly but this is the type of accident you most want to avoid... rood pillar strength is vital to the rest of the car, cut the roof off a car you can practically fold it in half - but i think you are more likely to be in a broadside collision than end up upside down. rollovers dont really result in the serious injuries side impacts do... my 2 cents ralph nader might disagree.
  23. and that is the message that first responders and law enforcement personnel should be sending.
  24. population control thru car crashes i think..
  25. anything can happen in an accident - crazy things! i'm always amazed how you find a guy's shoes 50m from the car - and he is still in it! thanks again for promptly jumping on another one.
