To bad JohnF aint around to answer this one eh.. Listen to the advice given here. I second the living in a dorm for your first year too. It was a great experiance for me. Owning a home is a lot more then just a motgage payment.

Well, I just got back in. A few OOS smallies, but no pike. Tried throwing a big Panther Martin, Williams 1/2, and a Husky Jerk in perch pattern. Tried by hooters, public docks, break wall, and by the beach volley ball courts. Nada.. Beauty day though. Had a great time, even though I didn't get what I set out for!

Ya.. I here lots of people hook up there. I think I'm going to go down for a few casts tonight after work from 6:30 till 8:30ish. With a beauty day like this, I'm sure the lakeshore will be packed!

I haven't been shore fishing in Barrie since early ice out, before my boat was in the water. This week, I'm taking a bunch of guys from work down to do a little shore casting for perch. Anyone having any luck around the marina, or public docks for perch in the past few days/weeks? I was also thinking about trying to catch a pike from shore. I haven't tried shore fishing for Pike in Barrie. Anyone ever catch a Pike from shore in Barrie? I was thinking about trying near Hooters.

You might want to try Western Mechanical out of Barrie. Not sure if they do the apprenticeship thing, but I know a few guys who work there and love it..

Got a letter for proof of taxes paid on OLD boat!!!

That's likely what I'll end up doing.. Not really worth the flack. But I thought I would get some opinion on my options first. -

I know this is an old post.. But I got my letter in the mail a last week, and thought I would bounce something off you guys.. I paid $800 for my boat 3 years ago, private sale. The "receipt" is long gone. Receipt = note pad peace of paper with chicken scratch on it. The Ontario government got their info from the Canadian Govt. Does anyone know if the Ontario Govt knows how much I paid for the boat? I really don't want to give these people my money! What can I do? If I have to pay tax on the full sale price.. It would be $65.. It would be nice to just pay tax on the hull, which at the time of purchase was only worth it's weight in scrap.. -
I've seen a few musky caught there too, but few and far between. One guy showed me a video of him catching a massive musky there from last season. Very very rare to see a ski on that lake. The fishing is hit or miss there. Troll a mepps spinner around weed beds and shoals. I would be very surprised if you didn't catch a handful of pike..

Thanks for the report. I'll be heading out for my fist run at them next week. And I'll be sure to pack some Green lures..

My mother in-law tried to convince me to use Coconut Butter fom pan frying.. Still have 3/4 jar in the cupboard. It tastes great, but the breading sucks up all the oil, and you have keep loading up the pan. Expensive too, you can only by it in the health food section. She told me it was a healthier way to cook, but you end up eating so much oil because it all gets soaked up in the breading. I generally use Canola oil. But have used several different types (veggie, and peanut) and I can't really taste that much of a difference.

X2.. Turn those boats into stashed boats on back lakes, and duck hunting swamps.

I just had a look on the BPS webside, and the same combo is still for sale there. $159.99. It doesn't look like anything has changed in the past 4 years. Thanks for the info. I only was going to string it with 30 lb power pro, cuz that what I have kicking around my place.

Hey guys, My friends Dad purchased a BPS Extreme bait cast combo a few years ago. He never could get used to the rig, and so it sat in his boat, and never got used. I think he might have taken 100 casts with the rod. Maybe a little trolling. He decided to sell the combo, and told me to make him an offer. My offer of $50 was accepted. Now that I've purchased this rig, I have a few questions. Has anyone used this rig before. 7.1:1, right hand, on a BPS extreme MH single peace rod. I'm just wondering if anyone has any input, good or bad, about it. Tips or tricks specific to this set up. I was also wondering about line. I have about 80 yards of Power-Pro 30Lb braid I was going to spool it with. Mostly want this rod for pike, Musky, and trolling for deep water walleye, and Lakers. I realize this in an entry level combo, but I figured it's a great rod to start with for Bait casting, and If I don't like it, there's always the OFC classified section..

Where were you fishing for Pike? Nice catch! But if your cell phone died, how did you get pictures of the pike in the water Or are those pictures of the smaller ones? Looks like fun man. Heading out this weekend for openner! I can't wait Posting the images from Photobucket is a sinch.. Instead of copying and pasting the link like you did. Copy and past the IMG code.. The pictures will show up, instead of a link to photobucket. ( think that's how.. It's been a while.)

Thanks Cudz. I'll give them a ring and see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. Anyone know about G-Bay guides?
-
I'm in a bit of a bind. I have to book a fishing charter for 5 guys on Lake Simcoe for June 2. I don't have much time to make a final decision. I was hoping for some OFC help! I've posted this on other Simcoe boards, and have had a little luck. But I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking for. I need to be able to get 5 guys on the boat. The plan is to Jig for whitefish in the morning. Then troll for Lakers after that. The guides that I've talked to can't troll with 5 guys in their boats. The only one I found that can, is getting his hip replaced, and can't take anyone out for the month. Last ditch effort here.. Does anyone know of a guide on Simcoe that can take 5 guys out trolling for lakers?? If not on Simcoe, then G-Bay? Simcoe is preferred because we're in Barrie, but southern G-bay would be good too.

I was researching Nosbonsing earlier this month too. Use the OFC search function. I found some good info there on places and tactics to try.
