Toronto Pike...... The last cast, Till May anyways
lookinforwalleye replied to snag's topic in General Discussion
How do those portable plastic/rubber boats stand up to those big trebles? -
Personally and this only my opinion I think blurring the background on a Toronto waterfront picture is silly and tells me alot. For the record I used to catch Pike on the waterfront in the 60`s and early 70`s apparently they are thriving and doing well.
-
I like the obscured background, you will fit in well here.

Trucks were falling through the ice 2 weeks ago but hey if you do not want to heed the warning go for it!
-
I am sure you will do fine a little practice is all it takes, I only trailer about 6-7 times a year and the first couple of times backing the boat up was a bit of a challenge now it`s no problem. The biggest problem I have at the launch is waiting for the guys who have bad equipment you know the ones they have a non matching trailer either to big or to small or some homemade p.o.s contraption. Just remember don`t let the boat launch bullies intimidate you I doubt they got it perfect their first time.

Ya that one sure has made the rounds.

Deep cycle battery charger on sale

Charger in the lake do tell. -
imagine that mentioning a lake or river on a fishing site! Oh the shame. There are a lot of touchy issues some justified some not so much so, but the biggie is mentioning a fishing spot.
-
I am glad the 3rd period wasn`t 5 minutes longer.

How about 7-1 Nah nah nah nah hey hey hey good bye!

That motor will have a tough time on a windy day I would think, I know mine does and I have a smaller/lighter boat.

More Public Access to Lake Simcoe Disappearing
lookinforwalleye replied to ranger520vx's topic in General Discussion
So let see if I understand correctly. You are suggesting that if property owners don`t like people throwing their trash and pissing in front of their properties they should move. If thats what your saying that is just ridiculous and is probably one of the silliest things I have ever read on OFC. For the record I like to fish Simcoe and I do have a boat which means I use the boat ramps/access points and when I am finished for the day I bag my trash and throw it in a bin if available if there is not a bin available I take it home. The problem is not with property owners my friend the problem is with the pigs who have no respect for other peoples property and that is one of the reason why we are losing access points and parking privleges. -

yeah, yeah but the fact still remains I would not want trash left on my property and I would assume you would not either. -

While I enjoy fishing on Simcoe a few times every year and I will be sorry to see another entry point taken away I understand the frustration of the local residents it is disgusting to see the filth that some people leave behind. I know if I had a property near an access point and had to put up arseholes pissing on my lawn and throwing their garbage were ever they please I would be supporting a access ban. -
buy 2 Shimano Compre for 220 and take the wife out for a nice dinner with the 220 you save or buy 2 new reels to go with the Compre`s.

I remember those well I took my youngest brother out fishing one time and he pulled that thing out put on a red and white and about 3 casts later he was into a 45" Musky after about 20 seconds all he had left was the handle it was a price less moment to see the look on his face.

My New truck almost swam with the whitefish ... ALMOST
lookinforwalleye replied to cityfisher's topic in General Discussion
I really don`t know what driving a vehicle on unsafe ice has to do with driving on the 401 but I would agree life is full of risks and I just prefer not to add any more risks. -

Well Joey and others I don`t think anybody here was too hard on Cityfisher and his poor judgment/misfortune, every year we hear stories of people, snowmobiles, trucks that go through the ice and there is usually a handful of people who pay with their lives and they leave behind loved ones who have to deal with the tragedy. It usually happens early in the season and late in the season I think most would agree that this time of year taking a vehicle out on the ice is a gamble. Warmer days ice shifting and cracking partial freezing and thawing again is a recipe for a potential disaster. I can assure you I always think about what I am posting and I can also assure you I have never taken a vehicle out on the ice and I never will it`s a risk reward thing. When a member posts a topic and expects replies they should do it with the understanding that all the responses might not be of the golly gee you poor baby type some may actually respond with what they think and that`s what makes a bulletin board. -

Yes there seems to be a lot of individuals who are willing to roll the dice when it comes to their physical and financial well being seems kind of silly to me to risk all that for a fish dinner. Physical well being aside can you imagine the cost of recovering a vehicle from the bottom of the lake, hiring a helicopter with the capability to lift the load, hiring professional divers to hook it up and then having to deal with the ministry of enviroment and a angry spouse. I would imagine it would be quite a bill. I am surprised that the goverment has not banned the use of personal vehicles on the ice. -
I dropped by on Friday on the way home from work and picked up one of those deep cycle batteries for 69 bucks pretty good deal I thought.

First like everyone else I am glad you survived but man I must say you are now added to the stupid human trick wall of shame, don`t worry there`s plenty of ice fishermen there with you. Seems to me this happens early and late every icefishing season you`d think the icefishing guys could figure out this pattern. Expensive new vehicle + no insurance coverage on ice + unpredictable late season ice + possibility of heavy cost of retrival + heavy fines, seems to be an easy choice. Betcha you won`t do that again. -
