I apologize if I offended anyone with the previous avatar, back to old one that everybody loves so much! -
Mitsubishi has introduced a airsource heatpump that apparently will work down to -25C and the cold weather technology seems to be improving rapidly depending on the situation a NG furnace or EBB`s may be old technology soon.

I have been experimenting as well with supplemental heat having recently moved into a house with EBB`as the heat source, the house is small 1100 sq.ft. or so on two stories and there is a gas fireplace in the basement that I set at 62 so the basement don`t freeze. The one real advantage of EBB`s is that you can zone heat and for us this works because there is only two of us in the house, probably not practical for a family with children. Based on past records from the previous owners the equal billing was 200/month for hydro which isn`t bad but who knows what that will be when TOU pricing comes into play next year. For the last couple of days I have been using two Seabreeze Thermaflow heaters on the mainfloor and they are able to maintain a nice comfortable 68-70 degrees running on the 1000 watt setting and of course we reduce the thermostat to 63 or so for overnite and when nobody is in the house, we have all the EBB`s on the second floor basically turned off and we warm the master with a portable for a couple of hours before bedtime. My feeling is the cost maybe a little cheaper with the portable heaters but I think the real advantage is the rooms feel much more comfortable using the portables, I find with the EBB`s there are always warm spots and cold spots the heat never seems to be evenly distributed. My airsource ac/heatpump will be installed next week and I believe this will provide similar heat as one of the portable units which will help in heating the upstairs and deliver it cheaper, I am thinking the heatpump will really shine in the shoulder months of April,May,Sept,Oct and part of March and November which should help lower the average cost greatly. I should have a better picture of what is better from a dollar standpoint in a few days. -
1.5 kwh x .10/kwh = .15 cents/hour x 24 hours = 3.60 day x 30 days = 108 $ a month Which isn`t bad but I doubt a 1500 watt heater can heat a 1000 sq. ft. house with all its different rooms and turns heck. I would even venture a guess that it would not heat a single 1000 sq.ft. room. It may heat your home in the cool months but at minus 10 to 15 I don`t know but I would like to be wrong on this one as I would love to heat my house for 108 bucks a month.

I think it will work fine as a heater but it`s an awful expensive 1500 watt heater, you can get a 1500 heater for a lot less money. I am no expert but I highly doubt that it will heat 1000 feet for two dollars a day, lets say you paying 10 cents a KWH delivered so you can buy 20 kwh of power I can`t see that heating your house in the winter months. I am currently running 2 heaters that are drawing 900 watts to keep my first floor warm and I estimate they will use about 4 bucks worth of hydro. I think if you google the reviews on those types of heaters you`ll be in for a surprise.

Well I would hate to disappoint you Rant, sorry I could not comment earlier but I hit the sack early us old guys need our sleep. From what I saw of the game I thought the Leafs were unlucky to get themselves down 4-1 and if Washington is going into the playofffs with that goalie it will be another early exit. And again I don`t hate the Leafs I just like to give Leaf fans the gears why because you guys win a couple and your a player or two away from being a dynasty, lose a couple and it`s fire this guy trade that guy. And remember it`s all in fun and it`s not personal.

Interesting that you mention the wallet, it was one of the first things my doctor asked me about,I never sit on my wallet anymore!

I had a bout of Sciatica a few years ago and it hurt like heck,so bad sometimes I would have to crawl up the stairs on my hands and knees. Personally I would never go for physio but that just my personal preference, Skeeter is on the right track with the stretching my doctor recommended a regime of stretching exercises and that did the trick. Go see your doctor or google Sciatica exercise and that should help.

While I do not condone what Perezhogin did the facts include Stafford cross checking Perezhogin in the face and taking a wild two handed swing at Perezhogins head, Stafford was suspended as well.

Ya I knew it was Perezhogin he thinking about,he`s often confused.
