  1. Great post. Thanks for sharing. I love the video. Is it a head mounted camera? What model is it. The picture quality is really good (at least for web videos)!
  2. I love the Trions too. I have several of the small ones (4725GX) that I use on my ice fishing rods. I then put them on my kids panfish rods for the summer. The kids put them through their paces and they have yet to let me down. Plus the spare aluminum reel is a bonus. For $40 at BPS you can't beat it!
  3. That is a great app. I'm a strong beliver in moon / sun cycles. This app will even let you store info about each catch such as weather, temp, pressure, bait / lure, GPS co-ords and a pic. Here are a couple more fishing related apps that I like Boat Ramps Cost: $0.99 It lets you search for boat ramps and marinas by current location, Zip code, or city. It will even let you add boat ramps to the data base. It has a limited amount of boat ramps but it will get you started in a new location. Flick Fishing Cost: $0.99 This is a cool little fishing game. It has several different fishing locations, species, tournaments, etc. A good time killer. Proknot Cost: $1.99 It has detailed step-by-step instructions on a wide range of fishing and rope knots. WFN Fishing Log Cost: $2.99 This is a good log. It lets you track alot of info including weather, pics, bait and tackle. The 2 shortcomings are that it doesn't support GPS and I can't figure out how to switch units from imperial to metric. If you have the fishing calendar this app is redundant.
  4. Great video. Thanks for sharing. I loved the braided line scream as she ran!
  5. I know this is an old post but I had to revive it! This is one of the best posts I've read on whitefish. I'm a newbie to whitefish and this post was great. Thanks to everyone who shared and took the time to put together such detailed post.
  6. The Ontario Stewardship Council website has lots of info. Go to this site and find the council for the area your interested in. They often have stocking information: http://www.ontariostewardship.org/index.php/local_council Here's an example from the Bancroft area Stewardship Council website http://www.ontariostewardship.org/councils/bancroft/files/2009_BASC_Bancroft_Mazinaw_Stocking_List.pdf
  7. ehg wrote "Have always done well for smallmouth here but today just a bunch of 1 lbers and WGSF's. " I've seen it a couple of times now and I've gotta ask...what's WGSF mean???
  8. goodtimer, How did you do? I'm heading up there for the end of September (Staying at Papa John's). I'd love to see a successful fishing report from these lakes!! I know this is an old post but it is worth a shot...
  9. I'm heading there at the end of September. We're staying at Papa John's Place on Herridge Lake. Where are you guys staying? We are also going to be fishing Iceland and Driftwood Lake as well. Let me know how you do!!
  10. Great report. It's like fishing porn, lots of pics and only a few words!!!
  11. Great report! Great trip! Thanks for sharing!
  12. I try to follow the "limit your catch, not catch your limit" rule. I usually release most of what I catch. I may keep the odd walleye and I'll usually keep any crappie bigger than my hand (great eating!!!). Ice fishing I'll keep a pike or two for a lunch in the hut. Ice perch are awesome too! I'm usually fishing panfish with the kids. We release most of them. We'll keep any that are gut hooked and won't make it. crappieperchhunter, creek specs are great! I'd prefer a steak dinner over a fish fry any day but this thread has my mouth watering!!
  13. I agree, a 6'6" medium fast action rod with a medium size reel will work for most fishing conditions. I personally like Pfueger reels for the value for money. St. Croix and Shimano both have rods in that price range that will work great.
  14. I was ice fishing on Nipissing. I was setting up my tip-up. To find the depth I would put a big bell sinker on the hook, lower it down, tap bottom and then come up to the desired depth. Then switch the sinker for a minnow. This time I lowered my line, tapped bottom once, but then couldn’t feel it again? Strange, I look down at my line and see it going SIDEWAYS! I set the hook and fish on! After a short fight I pull in a 26” pike.
  15. It was a good movie but didn't live up to the hype. The one liners were weak. The fight scenes were choppy and hard to follow, not the well choreographed fights of the classic shoot 'em ups. There were a couple good gun fights though and just about everything in the movie blows up! Having said that, I can't wait to watch it again!
  16. Here's a good one! This guy caught a coyote on a Phat Frog! http://lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_9b8d7648-ac12-11df-85e7-001cc4c03286.html
  17. Great post, thanks for sharing. Congrats on the walleye! She's a beauty.
  18. I've just booked a trip to this lake so I thought I'd revive this thread. I'm heading up there in late September. Staying at Papa John's Cottages (http://www.papajohnscottages.com). Anyone ever fish this lake or stayed at Papa John's? Not looking for any fishing spots (our trip is guided), just looking for overall experience.
  19. Some great stories! I caught a camera once, ice fishing in 30 FOW on Lake Nipissing. It was a waterproof one and still worked when I pulled it up! If truth be told, that's what I was fishing for. My brother-in-law had dropped it down the hole and figured it was a goner.
  20. Awesome post! The photography is stunning! Well done! I just added a trip like that to my "to do before I die" list!
  21. I only found out about this show in the spring. It quickly became one of my favorites. I'm sad to here it's no more. Good luck on your new shows, I look forward to watching them.
  22. As always G_F, Great report! Happy belated! Looks like you guys had a great weekend. Cheers,
  23. Great thread guys. I learned alot. Interesting to see how the rules are inforced. I don't own a motor boat but do have a canoe and rent several motor boats each year. I fish alot with friends and extended family. Every year I run into the problem of no licence / forgoten licence as well as the "I'm just watch". I hate having to lecture friends and family but I'm not losing any tackle or paying any fines because of them. Cheers,
