  1. Didn't "The White House" get burned to the ground in the war of 1812?
  2. I think there is "no ice fishing" on Chesley. There are some good sized perch in Eugenia, I can vouch for that.
  3. Just got my 5 quick picks and an encore. Fishing for life if I win.
  4. Nice slab LD17, were you after crappie or was it an incidental catch?
  5. Island lake conservation area in Orangeville. I don't know what your chances would be from shore but they do rent aluminum boats with electric motors as well as row boats, canoes and kayaks. Good population of crappies in there.
  6. Congrats on the new boat. A friend of mine bought a skeeter bass boat 5 yrs ago. He's been very happy with it, and man that thing can fly.
  7. I think Ford is on the right track by not begging for cash. It makes them look more viable to potential new car buyers. Who wants a car from a company that may pull out of Canada or even be bankrupt in under 6 months?
  8. I've seen more and more people keeping pike and the average size has decreased over the last 5 or 6 years. We used to get one over 30" every year, now if you get one longer than 24" out of there you should be pleased. Many people target bass before season opens and that has had an adverse effect on their numbers as well. I've never tried for crappie at Mountsberg but have heard that there are some in the 12" range to be found. If the pike numbers keep going down look for the crappie population to really take off.
  9. Rico is right, no ice fishing is allowed on this conservation lake. It opens for fishing on pike opener. That doesn't stop the poachers from fishing there pre season though. No live bait and a limit of 2 pike, 2 bass and 10 panfish. Also fishing from the railway tracks can bring you big fines for tresspassing. No gas motors allowed on the lake as well. It might be 8ft deep at the deepest but most of the lake is between 3-5ft with the weeds growing fast to the surface. By the end of June it is hard to use even an electric motor and paddling is about your only way to get around.
  10. A real tragedy for sure. The story of the 22yr old woman crawling out, after the attic of the house was crushed through to the second floor bedroom was unbelievable. I also heard two people missed the flight out of NJ. I'm sure weather was a factor.
  11. Someone should tell Michael Phelps before South Carolina's finest brings charges against him. We could always use a few more gold medals in the summer olympics. Hell, anyone set to ship out to Iraq could make a trip to Niagara Falls, cross the border, and stay alive awhile longer. I'm surprised they aren't lining up already.
  12. Jack's lake south of Apsley isn't too far.
  13. Good to see some OFC'ers on the podium. Congrats to Fish Farmer & CrappieSteve.
  14. I replied to the crappies on fire report after 8am and it still says Big Cliff was the last post at 3:40am. Something more than the usual slowdown has been happening.
  15. Nice pics sleded, saw them on myfishingpictures.com earlier but couldn't get on OFC to see your report. It kept telling me that the server was not responding. Even now it took nearly 10min to get on and reply. You'll have some good eating there, as well as a little arthritis from cleaning them.
  16. How did it go? Did any OFNCer's make it out?
  17. Welcome to the bored . Show us some pics of your boat, we love pics you know.
  18. I just hope none of the rescue people are lost trying to save these numbskulls. They should all foot the bill for these rescue operations.
  19. Welcome to the board mjack7. I was referring to the water that will be on top of the ice after today's melt. I'm sure the ice will still be there underneath a foot or so of water and slush. Looking forward to the report and pics tomorrow.
  20. Nice pics Bro, too bad the conditions weren't the best.
  21. Better wear your chest waders and PFD if you are going out on the ice after today. Safety first.
  22. I use a 5'6" lightning rod as my ultra-lite for panfish. My daughter has a 5'6" ugly stik for all her fishing. The ugly stik is extremely durable if that is a concern.
  23. Currently laid off, auto worker.
  24. Caught my first musky in the Scugog river in Lindsay when I was 12 yrs old. It was where the old railway bridge crossed the river. The locks are your best bet right in town for walleye. You are within an hours drive of any of the Kawartha lakes so keep your priorities in line. When my Bro, Joonmoon, went to the college he spent too much time fishing and not enough time studying.
