  1. Wilson mentioned on a radio show that the Leafs would be going after the Sedin twins. It was before July 1st when they would have become free agents. That is considered tampering and could cost them as much as their first round pick next year for punishment. The NHL is now looking into the incident.
  2. Last year the Leafs were the worst penalty killing team in the NHL. Now he has added 4 guys who take between 120 and 180 minutes in penalties per season. The Monster will get his chances because Vesa will get rubber rash and be injured before x-mas. My prediction is they will be in the lottery for first pick next year. But the NHL will take away their first pick because of tampering by coach Wilson.
  3. Knipex is the brand of hook cutters most musky hunters use. I for one would love to see your pic of it swimming away.
  4. Your best bet is to find an experienced musky angler willing to show you the ropes. You really are at the mercy of the musky in your situation. Without the proper net or cradle and the safe release tools you really had no chance. Got your adrenaline going though didn't it? Now you can see why musky fishermen get hooked on this fish. What lure did it hit?
  5. No bananas in the boat. All found lures are already lucky, since I didn't have to pay for them. Dragonfly landing on your rod tip is good luck and catching a sunfish is good luck. Catching a fish on the first cast is usually the only one I'll catch that trip.
  6. That's what I'm talkin' about. Thanks for posting that pic MrEh.
  7. Endless, a half dozen years ago I caught a 19.5" smallie from the Grand in Kitchener and it weighed 3.3lbs on a digital scale. These are river fish and don't get the girth of smallies in Simcoe or lake Erie. I would say 4 to 4.25lbs for a 20" Grand river fish max. At least up in this section. I'm sure the closer you get to lake Erie the heavier they will weigh per inch of length.
  8. Nice one, is that a lamprey mark on it?
  9. You would have needed something over 19" to even have a chance. The winner was 20 3/8". With a 17" fish you'd probably be around 100th place. I didn't hear if the tagged fish was caught. It was a pretty obvious tag in the middle of the back. If you're hungry for more competition, both Island lake in Orangeville and Valens conservation area have derbies on this weekend.
  10. Hey barbless, there is a tourney this weekend at Island lake. It's both Saturday & Sunday. You could win $2500 for the biggest bass.
  11. Ask joonmoon. He used to ice fish there every year for a while.
  12. I've seen a one-eyed largemouth caught as well as a NO-eyed pike. The pike was skinny but could rely on lateral line senses alone to feed itself. I'd have done the same as you did.
  13. 18 including the wife and daughter's. I use about 5 regularly. The rest are once or twice a year rods.
  14. There should be plenty of weeds in that stretch of the Pigeon river now too. I'd throw spinnerbaits along the edges of lily pad beds and sluggos or moss boss topwater weedless type lures right into the pads. You should find largemouth and possibly a little musky hanging around. Good luck and take lots of pics for your report.
  15. Kelso in Milton. Island lake in Orangeville, but not this weekend unless you're interested in the tourney. Mountsberg off hwy #6 south. Pigeon river is good too. Try putting in across from Emily provincial park.
  16. What species are you looking to fish for? C&R or are you looking for dinner?
  17. There is also a tourney at Valens on Saturday. Great for the whole family. http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/parks/visit/valens.asp
  18. Great report Frozen-Fire. The front seat in that canoe is magical. I've taken at least a dozen non-fisherpeople out in that Sportspal and got them all hooked on fishing. Had many a great outing with my brother as well. Fishing with family is always the best. Glad it's still got some magic left in it.
  19. Last hour before sunset has been good for me.
  20. Nice report and pics Rich. I like that second last one. I agree that those other fishermen should at least bow when fishing in your presence.
  21. My only experience with the Bonnechere river is between Round and Golden lakes. It's all good between the Tramore bridge and Deacon launch/bridge.
  22. Great report and pics Mike. Seymour is where I caught my biggest smallmouth bass and my biggest carp. Good to see you fishing with your little brother, you'll have a fishing partner for life.
  23. I heard that 20 3/8" was the winner.
