bay fishing for carp is my "specialty" like wolfville said... BAIT ahead of time when im in carp mode(the time of year when i only fish carp) i only fish 1-3 spots... this way you have bait going in at least once a week... more often then not i fish 1 spot for a given stretch of time... and bait heavily... if you live close to the spot youve been fishing... i would put bait in every day or every second day... im talking lots... 3-5 gallons of corn(soak feed corn in water for 3 days) bay carp come and go several times a day in most cases... they seldom sit in one area for very long so your giving them a reason to come back more often and sooner than normal... this means carp will see your bait more often as well... i also like to set up a "road block" for them... what i mean is while your actualy fishing... make a bait bed that will cut off the carps path... this wont hold em for long but they will stop to mooch on a couple baits... as well... if your with other people... stager your rods to create a "wall of hooks"... space out where you casts... if you think the carp are 50-80yds out and you have 3 lines available... try to cast 55-65-75yds that way you can be certain they will see a bait... i could go on and on here but this should get you goin... remember bait bait and more bait... these fish can eat...

well i started off the day trying some new spots for musky... i planned to focus on rocks and basins... i ended up trolling a basin for a while as well as a big stone pile with no success... the i tried some shallow wood... nothing but an accidental largie... so i thought i would try a nice point that holds walleye and smallies... and BAM... 52 incher!!! now my day is made... then we combed the area looking for others... nothing... so we headed to a weedbed that usually holds fish... we werent sure if they were on yet cause my friend in another boat was there for 3-5 hours in the morning with nothing but a follow... so we tried... after 4 passes trolling BAM... 38 incher on the fifth pass... now its turning into a really good day and the smiles are ear to ear... ...we decide to try another close by weedbed that has a nice steep bank... first pass BAM... 36 incher... now im floored... all these fish were caught within a 2-3 hour span... later we also got a 6 and 10lb pike and a mid 40 inch musky follow... all and all... great day on the water...

They bounce around the 40-50 dollar range but last a long time... Rollie and Hellens musky shop caries them... BPS probably don't... -

that is insane... its like renting a car without a drivers licence... STUPID RULES!!! -
well... heading out in and hour to try and troll up a BIG St.Lawrence musky... the bite is tuff this year... with the cold wet spring the weedbeds have not come in like normal... so tomorow is an adventure to find musky "on the rocks"... and im also gunna try the main lake flats that are full of perch... im thinking the musky might suspend in these flats/basins... ive managed to find 2 other guys willing to drag lures for 12 hours so i will be able to run three rods... this will really help figuring out a pattern... i also just purchased "musky mikes trolling secrets"... it gives you running depths of 80 musky baits... so i can stager lines at all the depths i want to maximize my chances of a hook-up anyways... im confident we will boat at least 1 fish today... wish me luck...(just dont post good luck... to much clutter) lol

be prepared for long fast runs that may even spool your reel if your not carefull... the key here is setting your reel to free-spool and then sit back and relax... when line starts to peel... pick up your rod and engage the reel... it may take a while before you get a strike... also... i dont usualy catch many carp i can see... believe it or not carp are one of the smartest fish around... if you see them.... they see you... i would try casting just farther than you can see then sit back and wait... do not walk around looking at/for fish cause if they see you... they might not feed for a while carp are a blast... if you catch one i garountee youll try to get another... if there is a tackle shop with carp gear near where you live i would ask them for info... also... there are thousands of carp videos on youtube... and loads of "how to" videos... you can check out my slideshow if youd like... shows you what you can expect for possible size http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkjqoHtLTjc
