  1. how deep do you consider the kill zone.....? i fish shallow water mostly.... so this kill zone is kinda new to me...
  2. according to my calculations a size 45 okuma wont even fit the 100 yards of lead core let alone the backing and leader.... the okuma 45 will only hold 85yds of core... if core diameter is .045
  3. yup... what reels do you guys use for leadcore... i was even looking at saltwater reels... and most of them dont have the capacity for leadcore...
  4. wow... thats thick...
  5. you had me confused... so leadcore is close to mono of the same strength then... or 130lb mono?
  6. why do you need 840 feet of backing? isnt that a bit much?
  7. just wondering if anybody can tell me the aprox line diameter of of leadcore line... lets say 18 or 27lb kerplunk i tried finding this info online... but no luck im looking for the mono size equivelent or actual diameter... im looking for a ballpark here... like is 18 or 27lb close to 10lb-20lb-30lb-40lb-50lb mono thnx trollers
  8. sorry i didnt mean to lump all canadian stores together... i have experienced SOME quality retailers in canada... but like i said... my loyalty has been recognized and appreciated... and for the baits and gear i use... these are the stores for me... also... i live on the canada usa border... so i ship to a ship it shop... so any orders under 75 bucks are tax free coming back across the border... and shipping is very cheap within usa... usually $10 for $100 orders...
  9. very true... for 90% of my musky gear i stick to rollie and helens musky shop... they are fast and if there are issues with your order you get a phone call from an employee at the store to help choosing a substitute color or size... between cabelas and the musky shop im very well treated and very well taken care of... ive tried ordering from canadian stores... they just arent as good... ive been waiting 3 weeks for an order from pro tackle musky shop in bellville... cabelas or musky shop 4-5 days and usually cheaper prices as well as cheaper shipping
  10. thanks roy... but i give my business to cabelas and in return they take good care of me... my issues with my humminbird are gunna be taken care of... they are even bending the rules for me by extending my 90 days so i can keep my sonar till ice up then send it back... for reasons like this... ill pay a bit more here and there to show that im a loyal costumer with a long long and expensive order history... unless they dont have what i want...
  11. just ordered the triple grips... from what you guys are saying... they are the hooks im looking for... i needed hooks that sting em and hold... thnx for all the input on all brands metioned...
  12. For musky I use VMC 4x strong black buckle trebles
  13. OMG 14 musky in a day... Amazing
  14. We had issues with mink for a while at the cottage... I got home late from walleye finishing... So I threw the walleye in our minnow tank to gut in the morning... Woke up... All gone... 5 walleye up to 4 lbs all gone... Tiny footprints all over the minnow tank... We later caught one in the act of steeling minnows from the same tank... Hard to believe a tiny mink could wrestle a healthy 4lb walleye out os a big tank full of water...
  15. We only got 2 sheepies on Thursday... Sun up to sundown...
  16. i read a report where someone said the same thing... a hook that hooks too well... thats a good thing in my mind..... i get a lot of walleye bumping and tapping my baits... maybe these hooks will help turn those fish into caught fish....
  17. i dont want 2x strong cause the weight will throw off the action of my cranks... but thanks for the triple grip vote...
  18. the hooks on my walleye cranks take an absolute beating cause i literally drag the bottom with em sometimes... i regularly have to change the hooks on my baits... i just ordered a pile of split rings and pliers... but im having a hard time deciding what trebles to buy... im leaning towards ultra point cause they sound very durable... more specificaly the - mustad ultra point triple grip - trebles... or do you use others that you would recomend? thnx everyone... again... these are for cranks only if that makes a difference
  19. I have spots that are literally 20-30 feet long... Literally... I wanted accuracy... I thought the days of lining up Chanel markers with tv towers and trees were in the past... It's a good thing I was taught that skill as well...
  20. Nice... Family fishing is priceless...
  21. A PB is a PB Great job...
  22. It's just annoying that my 10 year old black and white gps(with external) out performed my current humminbird... If internal doesn't work well... Why would they put it on the market?
  23. What happens is... I'll be trolling a steady 5mph and the units on the screen jump between 3-7mph... A lot of the time the speeds are correct... But the other day I was trolling 5+mph and for about 20 minutes it was saying a steady 3.5-4
  24. also... the "I told you so" comments arent helping the situation...
  25. i know if they wont fix my unit... cabelas will take it back and ill buy a lowrance unit... my humminbird is only 3 months old and the temp was reading 150 degrees the other day in 53 degree water... and the gps issues that paul mentioned... so either way im gunna have to tear my boat apart to send back the head unit as well as the transducer...
