  1. excellent report, are you still going out by snowmobile? how thick is the ice?
  2. UF that's a very nice boat I love the camo, part of the reason I went with the Jon style boat was all the room they offer. Mine also has a casting deck front and rear, lots of room for my Golden who won't let me leave shore with out him, if I do he swims out after me and I have to rescue him from drowning by exhaustion. I'm thinking about getting a dog ladder that will allow him in and out easier. As far as how fast my boat will be I don't know, it's all new and I haven't had it out yet but I do have a GPS mounted and I will let you know what kind of speed it will do, the 25 I have is a 2 stroke.
  3. I have a new 14' Tracker Grizzly with the modified "V" hull and a 25 hp Yamaha but I haven't had it on the water yet. From what I know they are best suited to inland lakes, larger waves are a bit of a hampering to this style of hull, definitely not as fast in the chop as a "V" hull would be. Search YouTube and you can find video's on them.
  4. Interesting how a fellow's post about his new car has to turn into a Import vs Big Three rant, seems like there are some people that will take any opportunity to start it. He said his GM truck was the best he ever owned let's hope he can say the same about his car in 5 years.
  5. Well keep us informed as to how you like it once you have it a while. The Maxima is a eye catching car and I've never heard anything bad about them.
  6. I hope your happy with it, seems pricey for an 05 though, hopefully you were able to talk them down. I tried being with out a truck once, six months was it and I was back into a truck never will I consider being with out one again.
  7. I believe if it has the 20" wheels the 3.92 will be standard because of their larger diameter.
  8. I've been going back and forth between Ram 1500s and Dakotas since the early 90s and haven't had a bad one yet, lots and lots of miles towing. The last Hemi I had was an 05 which was much better on fuel than the 03, and I would think the newer ones 06 and up with MDS would even be better. I currently have a Dakota 4x4 with a 3.7 six cylinder, month to month it uses about $80 to $100 less on fuel but it's a lot less truck, back to a Ram with a Hemi when I'm ready to deal again, I think the extra in fuel is worth the extra comfort, not to mention all that intoxicating POWER!
  9. I'd really like one in fleece and in camouflage! Yeahh Baby!
  10. I feel like I'm hi jacking this post sorry fil, but I had this number scribbled on the paper beside the TN 28 and I think it's the serial number it's 1070494. It be nice to know the year, thanks boatman.
  11. Outfitting my jon boat has resulted in a pile of receipts and also a few warranty cards to be filled out and sent in. The Minn Kota trolling motor has a 3 year warranty some of the other stuff a couple of years coverage so I'm not much for paper work but if it means no warranty coverage resulting from not sending the warranty cards in I will take the time to do it, so what has been your past experiences when it comes to warranty claims do you find just showing up with the receipt is good enough?
  12. The number on it is TN 28 from what I recall it is a 1952 or 53, maybe it's a 5 hp, oh man my memory is getting bad.
  13. hey is that another boat in the background? I guess you can't have too many!
  14. Yup definitely water cooled, you may want to change the water pump for sure, about $25, I just got a water pump for my 1952 Johnson 5.5, it was still pumping water but figured it was time!
  15. Hey T.J. my wife saw my credit card out by the computer ( my fault) and was asking what I had ordered now, so I was showing her, she sees that pink ladies hat with the cut out for the pony tail and says "neat did you order me one" so I'm all for keeping her happy and Mother's Day can't be that far away so if you could add one to my order to save shipping please do, if it's too late I will get it in my next order. Thanks, George
  16. I think your on the right track, there is also a float adjustment you may want to do which determines how much fuel is allowed into the bowl before the needle and seat do their job and shut the fuel off. Usually the tab that contacts the needle from the float is bent to accomplish the proper level setting. I would also make sure the fuel is fresh, check the fuel pump diaphragm and it never hurts to do a compression test. Checking the valve adjustment might also be a good idea, they could also be sticking in the guides.
  17. Wow great deal, now is the time to buy before prices start heading up. My Dad has a 2004 Montana I think that is the predecessor of your new van and it still looks and drives like new.
  18. I know I know, there was 48 of them. From what I know the local sportsman's club reintroduced wild turkeys around here a few years ago and they are doing very well. They hung around for several hours.
  19. we have frogs, robins and check attachment out here in the banana belt of Ontario!
  20. I'm going to be optimistic here and hope I catch fish big enough to eat this season, so l am watching youtube video and studying books on cleaning techniques. At the same time I an wondering how best to get rid of the remains, is it common practice to clean fish out on the water and discard remains into the water as food for other species? Otherwise what do you guys do? I want to put the remains to good use if possible.
  21. oh man I can almost taste them!
  22. having just gone through looking for a used outboard I gave up and bought new. I found that the used outboard market is way over priced. to truly evaluate that motor you have you should supply a compression test to potential buyers and let them hear it run, if all is well, it looks to be a 80's motor making it 20 years old you should ask about $400 for it and sell it close to that.
  23. the only reason honda and toyota are paying what they are in Ontario is because of the union wages at the big three, if they didn't they would have been organized by now and honda and toyota know it. Wait and see they will be getting rolled back soon as the dust settles with the big three contracts.
  24. by the look of things he won't be needing them ever again, I feel for the people he swindled.
  25. I wasn't going to bother chiming in on this but anyway here are my thoughts for what they are worth. I hope people will be able to live on 15 bucks an hour with no benefits because that's reality once the unions are gone. I'm not a big union buff and I think they have gone a too far but it's hard not to ask when management is making hundreds of thousands and in some cases millions of dollars a year. I also wonder when these good paying jobs are where the tax revenue will come from, the rich pay little and the poor can't and with the middle class gone, where will it come from?
