  1. Thankyou for removing us of those who catch fish on the sidehooks from the same bucket as snaggers. Now if someone could tell me how to catch more lakers on a williams ice jig i am all ears.. I get the odd one but i am in no way confident in using it to target lakers with i get most of my lakers on live bait.
  2. I guess the mnr should ban all hooks bigger than size 8. Hey you musky and pike guys should change your trebbles to barbless trout hooks so you dont get one stuck in the fish's eye/face/whatever during battle. Nothing personal bill just trying to point out the hooks are useful and legal.
  3. Awsome.. Great event for a great cause...if only the fish will cooperate for me this yer
  4. I caught a bowfin this summer in simcoe. Thought it was a snakehead...mean lookin fish and fought hard!!
  5. Beauty.
  6. I catch about 20 every year on the sidehooks on the INSIDE of the mouth..yes i get the occasional foul. What i think happens is the whitefish mouthes the lure as its laying on the bottom of the lake realizes its a hunk of metal down there not a baitfish and tries to spit it out but the oversized hooks catch on the way out. 8/10 times there hooked in the verry front of the mouth when i get a strike on the bottom..simalar idea to using circle hooks on catfish Edited for spelling
  7. Like i said i "get allot of stikes while its laying on the bottom". How can i snag a fish while the lure is not moving just curious?
  8. Imagine tryin to get it through a hole? "Hey jimmie...run to the house and grab the chainsaw"
  9. Its a long shot but anyone know if its iced up? Its small( like little lake in barrie sized) i had a cottage there when i was a child.
  10. I like a slow lift. Fast fall. I have one tied on 90 percent of the time on simcoe.
  11. Lol i replace them with huge oversized sidehooks a whitie cant even look at it without getting a facefullof hooks. I get allot of hookups while it is laying on the bottom on the lake. They like to pushdown on the lure into the lakebottom
  12. The fatal snowmobile accident last year diddnt help either i wasnt there that weekend but i have raced sleds there before. There was always allot of booze flowin.
  13. I was always curious why there were not more walleye in simcoe.. I have caught a few but it seems like i good habitat for them
  14. Silly me. I read on and found out you already did that. I towed a tent trailer from to toronto to vancover and back in four weeks had no problems. That van lasted to 500k. ( Mercury villiager). Good van on a side note i miss it.
  15. I would check your towing spec's again my carolla is rated to tow 1500 pounds. Maby you just need a higher class hitch installed
  16. Ahh my mistake then i do not live there .. I know my mamily members that live there do have quite a few passes " floating around"
  17. Well i headed up to opikma hunt and fishing camp on the 26th. Had a great time thanks for all the advice guys. First of.. I left the camera in barrie im really bummed. But other than that we all had a great trip the camp is rustic. Nothing fancy. The owers and there dog patch were awsome! Mike did his best to poin us in the direction of fish. The first day we fished for splake and bows caught a few splake nothing huge mike said they were yearlings. The next day i headed into the woods on the sled to a lake with lakers open all year and got my asskicked.. I did have the pleasure of meeting a moose on the logging road. The folowing day caught some specks all small again.( I guess im not smart enough to catch the five pounders i could see at times swing around ). Then we laid the smackdown on pike and perch for a day. On the last day we tried for the lakers again and got skunked a seccond time. All in all a great trip if anyone wants details pm me.
  18. Just so you guys know if you know anyone who lives in innisfill they can get at many stickers as they want justask them to go to city hall with proof or residence and they give you a sticker. I hate it when i have to pay to access a lake that is as rightfully mine as someone who lives in city limits.
  19. I dont like it when the sleds buzz by you and water SHOOTS out the hole....
  20. Nice fish i hit the niagara last year in the winter threetimes and got skunked. I will have to give it another shot soon
  21. Oh yea im there for a week.
  22. Ok as some of you already know im headed northeast after christmas in search of trout . There are 30 lakes in the area. I have done my homework as the regs are trickey up there. One of the lakes lakers are open all year and in 12 of the lakes there are splake and in 3 there are rainbow and in 1 there are whities Some of the lakes live bait is out of the question so im hittin the tackleshop on the way up. The lakers and whities i should be able to lay the smackdown on. But the splake and bows not so confident. I have never caught either.(Or tried). I am planning on bringing , little cleo's , buckshot spoons, williams ice spoons, some verry light flutter spoons, nightcrawlers for the deadsticks swedish pimples, tubejigs, small lipless cranks and badboyz. If anyone has any sugestions im all ears. I also was wondering is it hard to tell a splake from a laker or brookie sometimes or is it always pretty clear? Also splake at early ice 10-20 fow in the bottom five feet. Bows just under the ice crusin all over the lake sound right? Thanks for any and all input.
  23. I like 15pound braid with 8pound floro from the swivel down while fishin for lakers. Not much stretch in the 100FOW when i switched to braid i started catchin allot more whitefish i just never felt the hits with mono.
  24. Plenty cold at night from what i have bene reading.
  25. I got a hand me down 84 bravo when i was 12 i used to jump it ditch bang and that thing kept coming back for more.
