  1. Sorry, she did try but because it is not in her area she can't get any information.
  2. Just sent her a text, will see if she can help!
  3. Will ask my friend if she can do anything. If it was Ontario there would be no problem, not sure if she can cross the lines.
  4. It would be so easy to sit here and say "it will be alright" but you must be scared silly, I know I would be! Keep us posted and you know that if I can help in anyway you just have to ask.
  5. Call the Ministry Of the Environment, they should have all the information you need, they would have to be called in for any kind of a chemical spill. If you are still having a problem after trying that, let me know, a close friend is an enforcement officer for them and she might be able to help. Phone me if you need to: Cell 705-928-8899
  6. Our neighbors lawn hasn't been cut (at the water) in weeks, hasn't slowed them down. The other neighbor has two dogs but the geese just seem to know when they are out or in the house. Sorry if you got one of the geese I've hit with a pellet but I'm sure not going to let them ruin my property. The pellets I use are target match pellets so they have a flat face to them, they are desigined not to penitrate so perhaps that is why they bounce off.. Anyway, it was just a suggestion and it works for me
  7. I just use my pellet rifle, doesn't kill them, the pellets just bounce (it's about 150' away) off but I guess it stings them and they are quick to leave and usually don't come back after the first or second time. They are constantly at our neighbors but heven't come back here in weeks.
  8. I think that is absolutly wonderful, congratulation to both of you!
  9. Geeeze Joey, if you are going to try that let me know I want to be first in line, I've got a feeling it will be a long one
  10. This past weekend I got an email from Bell with a transaction number, only thing was, I hadn't made any changes to our satalite TV package so I called them. A very nice young lady explained that this was a special promotion and they were going to be giving me a discount of $5.00 a month of my TV package. Wow, I thought, I already get $10.00 special promotion, now they are going to give me $15.00 a month off. NOT! The $10.00 promotion would no longer be in effect so they really just raised my cost by another $5.00 a month (sneeky "insert not a nice word here") and tried to make it look like they were doing me a favor. So I called my IP and talked to them about their TV package, as some of you might remember I was going to change over last year but there was some glitch and they couldn't provide me with the TV package. Well, now they can, it's a far better package than Bell offers and for less money. As of July 17 Bell will no longet be attached to my house in any way. It felt so good to be able to call Bell back and tell them to disconnect then listen to them try to squirm with promisses of better packages and better prices; how stupid can they be, if they offered good packages at fair prices then they wouldn't be loosing customers but they have to try to stick it to you every chance they get. Soon to be available to a good home; 2 Bell dishes, a PVR, and 2 receivers.
  11. These guys should be charged with fraud because they missrepresent themselves and sucker a lot of people that just don't know any better!
  12. Hoping for nothing but a full recovery for you young man! You are young, you are strong, you'll be good as new in no time!
  13. Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
  14. Hang in there my friend, lots of help and support available as you already know!
  15. Since then I have installed a water monitor alarm that I bought at Home Hardware (about $250.00 if I remember correctly). If it sences water in the basement (where the sensor is placed and naturally I put that in the lowest spot on the floor) it sounds an alarm in the house and then actually calls my cell phone to let me know there is a problem. Just found out that my insurance company even gives me a discount because of it too.
  16. Similar situation from the sound of it, raised bungalow, own septic system, no sump pump needed. Hot water tank decided to spring a leak, $28,000.00 in damages and some items that can't be replaced (books that my mother-in-law had written messages in to my wife), an original oil painting from a very dear friend..... gone. Those can't be replaced but without insurance I couldn't have afforded to repair the basement.
  17. Totally agree about the corruption!!!!! This was on Markham Road below Steeles Ave in a well developed area, no farmers fields within miles and plenty of buildings to block any drifting snow. There was plenty of room on the oposite side of the road to plant the trees and no hydro lines to worry about. Where is the logic in that? I've just watched Hydro spend most of last summer and the last three months already cutting trees and brush back from hydro lines. I can only imagine what that is costing us the tax payer.
  18. I dealt with the same company for over 30 years and they always treated me well but I know I was paying a higher rate than if I had shopped around. For me it was the comfort of knowing that if I did have a problem they would take care of it. Last year we made a switch to another company (an OFC members wife and long time and very trusted friend) Our rates have dropped by almost 30% from what we were paying and we have far more comprehensive coverage than we did have. For me it's all about security, I want to know that if or when I do need coverage it will be there for me. I have heard some prety sad stories about perple that had discount insurance rates and were really happy; until they tried to file a claim.
  19. Anyone like smoked salmon? Well, I have been playing with this one for a while now but I think I finally have it down to perfection. A side of salmon or trout skin on. Remove all the rib and lateral bones (it's a bit of work but worth it). Spread a layer of coarse salt on the bottom of a plastic tray or container and lay the salmon skin side down on top of it. Cover the rest of the slab with at least 1/4 inch of coarse salt and put it in the fridge for 24 hours. Remove it from the fridge and shake off any excess salt then rinse it under cold water until all signs of the salt are removed. Pat it dry with a paper towel then put it back in the fridge for about an hour or two. Cold smoke it with maple chips for about two hours. Slice it nice and thin on the diagonal and serve with crackers, capers, and or lemon juce. You will never buy that smoked salmon in the store again!
  20. Johnny, not always agreeing with me is a good thing! Perhaps it is my age, up bringing, or just the fact that after putting in almost 40 hours of work in three days just to try to keep our heads above water I get a little too sensitive when I see the things that I mentioned in my OP. I always welcome discussion as long as it stays civil and I am always open to listening to and trying to undestand other peopls point of views. Often I have learned from posting on this board that there are things I hadn't thought of prior to posting, I haven't always agreed but I do try hard to understand things from other peoples perspectives. Learning is good even at my age! I choose to accept that some people, for what ever reason feel that it is their right to practice gay sex but I don't stand out on the street or up on stage going "I am hetrosexual, how wonderful is that"? Perhaps that is why I resist when the Premier of our province thinks that her sexual orientation should be a priority and brodcast all over the world; just not very professional in my books! Sometimes it is harder to say what is on your mind and leave yourself open to judgement by others than it is to keep your mouth shut and just go with the flow. The older I get the easier it is becoming to say what I do think which, if it is a problem then it is likely somebody elses problem LOL. It has been a problem in Canada for way too long. We are so afraid of offending others that we would rather just keep our heads down and try to make everyone else happy. Believe me, one thing I have learned is; it doesn't work! If you don't say what you think then you are relying on others to say what they think and govern your life. Where would women be today if a few hadn't spoken out? Say what you think as long as you don't let it become personal! Things have changed so much since I was a child, we didn't have the same level of communication that the kids have today, heck I can remember getting the National Geographic magazines so we could see pictures of bare breasts. OMG if you managed to score a Playboy magazine... oh you were the hero of all your buddies These days it's hard to find a show on TV that doesn't show full frontal nudity and any child can get their fill of sex on the internet (regardless of what some of you parents think of your "parental block").Most 12 yearolds already know way more about sex than I did at 18 (in many cases they've already had more sex than I did at 18). I guess I am old fasion and I still feel that a marrage should be between a man and a woman. I still believe that it is a man's responsibility to support and take care of his family and it is a woman's place to support her man and take care of her family. Their jobs might be different but their roles and responsibilities are equal and the same. I think that god gave us the equipment and the natural instincts we have today for a reason! To me it is just part of nature, female fish lay eggs, male fish provide the sperm, it's how a species survives. Oh WTH. If it makes you happy, just do it!
  21. I drive in and around Toronto a couple of days a week, I always have my radio on 680, they are usually very good about keeping you updated about trafic conditions.
  22. So you are saying that a stranger talking to your kids about sex is ok with you? Each to their own!
  23. Ya, I did put a post up just after John passed. I guess that I just had to share it again because of the lack of understanding from some in the hope it might give them an opportunity to see it from a different perspective.
