Prices are coming down now that the tourist season is over, they were $16.99 /lb a week ago.

Thanks guys. Reason I wanted one of these is if there is a power failure it will still blow warm air (no hydro needed). I'm actually going to put it on a free standing propane stove but expect it will work just as well as on a wood stove. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks guys had no idea what they were called. Lots of options now Lol! Heading for TSC this morning

I have been trying to find a fan, the one I am looking for sits on top of a stove and uses no external power source it is driven by the heat from the stove. I have tried searching for them on Google but there must be another name for them because I haven't had any luck. Have any of you used one of them and where can I find one?

That's so true! In every profession there are good and bad! Painting all of them in any group with the same brush is dangerous

Yup, Riverwood Estates Just South of town. I am now (at least for a while) a shore fisherman

Our lawyer and his staff were amazing through all of this providing guidance and advice every step of the way. Our agent too did everything he could to try to help us, even offered to let us stay with he and his wife if necessary! Even our buyers were doing everything they could; the problems all went back to their buyers.

Their offer wasn't conditional on financing but that didn't help when they couldn't come up with the money. My choice was to give them the extension or kill the deal and start all over. Yes I could have sued them but I would have had to walk away from this place then I could have been sued........

Our house on the lake is sold and we are moved into our new home. It wasn't without it's problems though; Sue ended up spending 5 days in the hospital a week before the movers were due to arrive, stress and over exertion with only 30% heart function will do that to you. She is doing much better now I don't like leaving things to the last minute so I'd arranged for the movers to move our stuff out on Sept. 1 (closing was Sept. 7) and store it until the 8th. I wanted cleaners to come in and do all the things we have a hard time doing (top of cupboards, behind the stove and fridge.....) arranged to have the lawn cut and trimmed so the new owners would have everything done up to date. As some of you know from my 1-800-Got Junk post there were a few hiccups but thanks to help from friends those were minimal. Sept. 7 (our closing date; Our lawyer calls: Our buyers need an extension until the 9th. (we are closing on the new place and the movers are delivering our furniture on the 8th). Major panic: I'm working and won't get home until late; call our vendor and explain what is happening, offer to pay rent of $100.00 a day if they will let us move in on the 8th. sign a waver. Friday the 9th, lawyer calls , our buyers need another extension: our buyers, buyers thought they had pre-approved financing (they did but conditional but didn't realize it) now they need until the 16th. This time I had our lawyer contact our vendor and explain what was going on and agree to continue paying the $100.00 a day rent (this was getting charged back to our buyer as a condition of the extension). Our vendor very kindly agreed. (whew) Friday comes: our lawyer will call us as soon as the funds are in our bank account so we can close on our new place. 2:00 pm no call so Sue phones: everything is in the works should be done in an hour: 4:30 Sue calls again; our buyers lawyer still hasn't shown up. 5;00 pm the stress is going through the roof! Finally our lawyer calls, he is sending one of his staff over to our bank right now with the funds, we meet her at the bank, deposit, withdraw and head for the meeting with our vendor to close. I learned a lot from this whole process! A deposit doesn't mean that if a deal falls through you get that money, you will only ever see it if both parties agree and sign off on it. In most cases if a deal fails the buyer will agree to sign off on 50% of the deposit if you will do the same. A deposit of $5000.00 sounds like a lot but $2500.00 won't even cover your expenses should a deal fail. There were a lot more lessons learned through this whole process, far too many to try and share here, I guess the most important thing is that we are in our new home and love it and I am finally going to have some time to get out and do a bit of fishing.

Enjoy that trip East Lew, Sue and I were going to go again this year but other things got in the way. It's on the books again for next summer though.

Sadly this sort of thing happens far too often! I hope you push for answers and demand accountability! -
Thanks everyone for the advice and offers to help. Wiskeywizzard and his beautiful bride showed up with his trailer yesterday morning and the movers loaded the things that were going and away he went. Doreen very kindly delivered our second car to where we are staying between move out and move in so that was one less thing for me to worry about. Sue got out of the hospital yesterday afternoon, she is going to be fine, they think the angina was brought on by stress and over exertion (and the fact she only has 30% heart function anyway). She is on light duty (and heavy wine) for the next few weeks (Cliffie's orders). We got to have a very nice dinner and were in bed and I was asleep by 7:30 (ya, I know exciting eh?). Thanks again everyone!

Posted on kijiji so far all replies wanted me to deliver it for FREE!. I'm 70, I don't move couches anymore. I've already given away a few grand worth of stuff. Just had a call from a friend, he is coming tomorrow to help haul it away, this should be fun, one old guy and a mid age friend loading this stuff! I should have just pulled it out in the yard and had a bonfire LOL (oh wait there is a fire ban on here, fine $2500.00).

So it seemed that no one needed the free stuff I was giving away, tried calling Salvation Army, driver on holidays until next week, Vickie's Values, women's resource center, Restore.... everyone I could think of, no one had the ability or was interested in it. So I keep hearing all about the 1-800-got-junk and how they recycle so much stuff so I went on line, listed what I had, got a quote of $116.00 and a confirmed pickup for today at 12:30 - 2:30. I decided ; why not, it will go to someone that can use it. Sue was having heart surgery today in Peterborough and I couldn't be here so I hired a young friend to house sit while I was away so they could pick up the items. !2:00 they call, they are over booked and can't get here until 6:00. The young fellow has to be at work by 4:00. Now I'm in a bind, I'm in Peterborough with Sue, the movers are coming tomorrow morning at 8:00. Toby (my young house sitter) agrees that he will phone in to work and arrange to start at 8 if I will agree to cover his lost 4 hours. I'm sitting in the hospital on pins and needles waiting on word of how Sue is doing, so I agree. 4:00 pm the 1-800 guys call, do I only have the three items? Yes! They still have a little room on the truck and might be able to get here a little earlier. Sue gets out of surgery, procedure went well, they will transfer back to Lindsay. I head for home knowing that poor Toby has to be into work by 8 and hasn't had time to make a lunch or anything. Get home, sort things out with Toby. 5:45 the 1-800 guys show up they want $346.00 to remove the three items, I tell them I was quoted $116.00 on line and had a CONFIRMED pick up time! They tell me "that is their minimum charge and would be for 1 item only"! Oh and the dispatch center have no idea what they are doing! I explained that I had listed ALL the items prior to getting the quote. TOO BAD! So, if you ever think of calling them, be forewarned! Now I have three items I am going to have to try to get rid of tomorrow, I can't move them myself. I am so pissed! PS, Sue made it through the procedure! Tomorrow is our 32 anniversary! Movers will be here at 8 and I'm toast LOL.

I have a dehydrator and I usually leave them in for 24 hours. Just remember it is now concentrated, 1/4 cup is probably = to a cup and a 1/2 of fresh.
-
Hey, that's where I got them, a church yard sale, $5.00 a piece. Still have two left.
-
You want them while they are pure white inside, (like fresh snow) if they start to show any signs of yellow/brown they are done. I slice mine about 3/8" thick for dehydrating, (1/2 " for pan frying in butter) once dehydrated I powder it, put it in ziplock bags and squeeze out most of the air. It will keep for years like that, just remove what you need as you need it, squeeze out excess air and reseal. Remember it will not dissolve when you use it in a sauce it only re hydrates, (the powdered stuff will blend right in) If you want to use it as you might use regular mushrooms then cut it into smaller pieces (about 1" square X 3/8" thick) prior to dehydrating, it will re hydrate to about 3/4 of that when you cook it.
-
Harvest it to day eat it tonight
-
I dehydrate it and use the powder in all kinds of sauces and even when I make a French Onion Soup, add it to omelets, scrambled eggs, almost anywhere. First though I steal a few slices to pan fry in butter, (lots of butter)

Thanks Geoff It's a beautiful piece of furniture and probably worth several hundred $ to the right person, it was my mother-in-laws so old school solid wood. Our new place is just too small for it.

We don't see enough posts like this!

The one in the basement is pretty old, quite usable but you'd want to throw a cover on the seat part or recover the cushions. The other one is sitting in my living room, mind you I'm not a big fan of SHOW stuff so it might not be to every ones taste, we're kind of casual.
-
We are moving, some stuff won't fit in our new place: All items are free but you have to move them I can't. 1 solid wood china cabinet upper and lower 1 recliner chair 2 couches (one the fabric is worn on the cushions but it's good and solid and comfortable) The other one is in very good condition. I need this stuff gone ASAP! Movers are coming on Wed.
