  1. Just like raising kids Mo. You bring em into this life, work your butt off to give them a good start and help them grow but at some point in time you just have to step back and let them go it on their own. If you have done your job well they continue to grow and flourish. Mo, it is because of all the hard work and dedication you put into getting this up and running that it has the foundation needed to carry on. See what you started!
  2. Funny thing, girl friends will let you get away with just about anything; once they become wives they seem to loose their sense of humor.
  3. Wat to go Joey but you didn't need that fish to be in a calander!
  4. It doesn't really matter who you talk to, there are good and bad in every brand and guys are going to swear by what they have for the most part. A lot of it has to do with how you take care of them. I have had Polaris for 11 years, first a 300 Explorer, air cooled, oil injected, man could that thing ever work and it would go through just about anything. I traded it in 2008 and got the 400 Sportsman, Bigger, more clearance and again flawless. I went on a ride with a bunch of guys on a variety of machines, I ended up pulling a Yamaha about 30 km out of the bush through mud holes that at times were right up to the fenders. Thing is, as soon as I got out of the bush, I went and washed everything down and gave it a good going over with the grease gun.
  5. Glad to hear that it will be fixed and under warrenty as a bonus!
  6. Need more information? What do you want to hunt for? You say "the provinces" but where? There are a few thousand miles to choose from. This may be a fishing board but many of us are hunters also and would be happy to try to help you.
  7. Born in 46, at 12 I was weeding gardens, mowing lawns, raking leaves in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter. Worked for the local farmers; chickens, hogs, haying, but my favorite job was shooting ground hogs, they would pay me $0.25 a tail and a box of .22 shells only cost $0.25 for 50. I spent many wonderful summer days walking the endless miles of fields with my .22. First full time job was at 15, $3.00 a day delivering milk We had to be at the dairy at 5:00 am to load the truck and we were usually finished by 2:00 pm. Did that for a whole winter then got a job at a local nursery for $0.25 an hour (thought I was rich). Bought my first car that fall, 1948 Plymouth coop paid cash. Joined the army at 18, went back to school when I was 21. Worked while going to college got married, raised a family. Started my own business in 1983, sold it in 2003 and retired. I probably work more now than I ever did. Now that I don't have to be at work or finish at a certin time I find I am always finding things that need to be done.
  8. I wouldn't do it, the floor in the DLX has to add strength and rigidity + you'll have to put some sort of a floor in if you want to mount a seat. By the time you add up all the work and materials you are going to have to put into the project you'd probably be better off selling yours and buying what you really want.
  9. Like Tjsa said, what parts do you need? If it is a carb kit I might have one here. Call me 705-328-0577
  10. I don't even know where you live but I have a kerosene radient heater that puts out a lot of heat and you are welcome to borrow and a CO monitor that you can plug in just for added security. If you are within an hours drive of Lindsay, I'll run it out to you. call me if you need it 705-328-0577
  11. Sturgeon Lake has all except the pike, lots of muskie though. If you do decide to come up this way, let me know and I'd be happy to give you a quick tour and show you a few spots to get you started. One good thing about Lunge haven (although there are many) you don't have far to go to get into some really good fishing and even if it is a very windy day, you can fish the river which is somewhat sheltered from the wind.
  12. Give these guys a look, they are just down the road from us and I have heard some really good things about them, I do know that they fill up early and they always seem full. Lunge Haven Cottages
  13. Do you have your own boat or do you want a cottage with one? Do you want something with a beach? For how long and what dates?
  14. You can have your cell phone number put on the "do not call list" it won't stop all of them but it really cuts down on the un wanted calls.
  15. I have done a lot of work with the Kawartha Lakes Trout farm but that sure doesn't make me an expert on any of it. There is a lot more to stocking a pond than just dumping fish in it though. In fact, the more I learn the more I realize there is to learn. The most important thing I have learned so far is "if you are going to do it, do it right the first time" just dumping stuff in there to see what happens isn't the answer. The very first thing I would do if I were you is contact: Jeremy Holden Fisheries Biologist at the OFAH 705-748-6324 ext 268 Jeremy is an extreamly nice young man and really knows his stuff, you won't find a better place to start. Another place that might be able to help you would be Fleming College here in Lindsay, I believe Hugh Banks is th co-ordinator of the fish and wildlife programs there 705-324-9144 ext. 3355 Perhaps Mike or one of the other students in that program that frequent this board could give you some other names.
  16. Quite frankly, I don't mind getting stopped at all. I figure the guys out there checking for insurance, license, and registration are doing me a favour; they are taking the guys that don't have licenses and/or insurance out of the mix and the sooner the better as far as I am concerned. Advertising that there is going to be a blitz is a very effective stratagy for keeping those that aren't complying with the rules off the trails and ice, they now know that there is a good chance that they will be caught. The whole point is to keep them off the sleds/ATVs in the first place. Lots of people won't drink and drive when they know the ride programs are out and about but will take the chance at other times. All it would take is for someone to get creamed by some guy on a sled with no license or insurance and I'll bet there would be a lot of people screaming blue murder about it. So if the OPP want to stop by and check me out any time, I'm usually fishing Sturgeon Lake somewhere around the Goose Bay area. Green Polaris ATV, camo floater suit. If they are cold and want to get warm, want a coffee, or just a bathroom break they are more than welcome to come into my house. And yes, I carry my license, registration, and insurance with me when I am out, right beside my fishing license. Oh, and there is one very cute OPP officer up here that could come into my bedroom in the middle of the night and I wouldn't mind a bit! Sue on the other hand might take exception to it though!
  17. Take it from a guy that has been on both sides of the fence, employer/employee and gone both routes, go with the Labour Board! They are always very sympathic to the employee. If you do decide to go the legal route after that then you can use their judgement as evidence in court to support your claim. Which ever route you take, it isn't going to happen over night. Court could easily take a year or more, Labour Board will probably be quicker but they won't go for damages, just severance pay.
  18. I have never had either Lew but some friends did have a beautiful Granite counter top (until someone spilled a glass of red wine on it) it had been sealed but perhaps not properly or something but it did leave a stain. I'm not sure how, but they did get rid of the stain eventually but were paranoid about anything being put on the counter after that.
  19. I had an 06 Frontier crew cab. It was fantastic!!!!! That thing pulled several full size SUvs out of ditches and didn't even work hard. The customer service at Nissan was exceptional and fuel economy was quite good. If I was buying another truck, that is what I would be buying.
  20. We've been down this road before; don't judge all by the actions of a few. If you have a problem with something that is going on then take it up with the proper authorities and try to get something done about it. I find it kind of funny that people have a problem with the OPP doing a blitz and making sure that people are complying with the law and people are whining because some people are getting away with breaking the law and not getting caught.
  21. It is only fair to note that he posted at about 1:00 am and with the stress he must be going through had probably taken some "stress relief" liquid medication which may have impared his ability to string together full sentences. Give the poor guy a break will you
  22. I wouldn't be paying $800.00 for it either. If it hasn't been run in 5 years I'd be wanting to check it out very carefully. Seals could be dried out, I'd replace the impeller, and service the fuel system. I might pay $500.00 for it if it is nice and clean and doesn't show any sign of physical damage.
  23. That is too bad! Conflict of intrest can be a fine line to cross and yet broad in scope. If you were already fired then contacting customers isn't considered "nice" but it is my understanding that as long as you didn't take confidential customer lists with you and use them, you have nothing to worry about. If you had contacted her before you were fired and tried to get her business for yourself, that would be a different story. Good luck in your job search.
  24. I was going to try a little fishing this afternoon thinking that this warm weather might have turned the fish on. Well, I was going to try until I looked out the window and saw the waves that is. I fear there are going to be some ice huts frozen in as soon as the temp drops again. Be careful if you are going out.
  25. I can't remember if there was a coffee pot or not, if there was it would have been a percolator type but I drink instant. We did have TV/VCR, gas fire place, propane stove, generator to run lights and the TV. In thinking more about it, I don't believe there was an electric coffee maker, the generator was only 1000 watts, not really big enough to run a toaster or electric coffee maker most of those things need about 1500 watts. Dan't worry about asking them questions, they are there to help.
