Earnie, she went right into the Moorings and impaild itself on one of the big docks that point out toward the center of the lake. It had flipped up onto it's back which by the time we found the hut, was frozen into the slush. I can get to it easy enough with the ATV but we are just going to have to wait for warmer weather or we'll just destroy what is left of it. Thanks for the offer though!

Well, after having a chance to check out the damage to the hut a little better it looks like it is going to have to be rebuilt pretty much from the floor up. It must have hit the dock doing 80 or 90 k and the dock didn't move. At least all my gear is home. We'll work at getting the hut (or what's left of it back here on Friday. Thanks for all the replies!

A little late now LOL. I do know how but didn't think it needed to stand up to 90K winds. Had a rope on it but the rope broke. Oh well, lesson learned. I really do appreciate the offer though!

Well, found the hut, lots of damage but we'll get it fixed up. At least I know where it is and I can recover my gear. Going to take next Friday off so my buddy and I will work on it so it is ready for next weekend. Lew, thanks for the offer, very kind of you! We have 4 guys here ready to help me bring it back home but we are going to wait until this wind dies down, it is still pretty bad out there and the hut isn't going anywhere from where it is now.

Could be in Bobcayegon by now. Only problem is my rods and auger are in it. I'll miss the hut but I'd really like to get the gear back.

Put my ice hut out yesterday on Sturgeon Lake. 90K + winds last night, ice hut gone this morning, guess I didn't anchor it well enough. Tried to look for it but it is blowing and snowing so hard you can't see more than about 50 yards. Anyone on Sturgeon lake see it please give me a call. Blue, 6X6 numbers on it are PB 2784 My # 705-328-0577 Thanks Big Cliff

My son came for a visit this weekend, so Saturday evening we decided to head out and see if we could scare up a few fish. We had just got to one of my favorite spots and got set up. I sat down in the seat, leaned back and SNAP, the both seat brackets snapped of between the seat and the back of the seat dumping me on my back on the floor of the boat. My head barely missed the rear casting deck and I knocked the wind out of myself but apart from that no serious damage to me anyway. It is a good thing my son was with me because I needed help getting back to my feet, I hate to think what might have happened if my tackle box had been sitting on the floor at the back where I normally keep it, I went down quite hard. The brackets are plastic and the boat is only two years old and has always been stored inside, I am wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the plastic brackets? I am going to try to contact Prince Craft tomorrow and see if I can get a new set, I don't know if they will cover them under warranty or not. I am a little concerned and wonder if this is a known problem or not. Had my son not been with me and I had hit my head I could have been in serious trouble. Any feedback?

Well I know it's late but I hope you had a very happy birthday! Wishing you all the very best! Cliff

From my experience most older people don't fear death, they just accept that it is a reality of life. What they do fear is not being independent anymore. Do try to get him out with you but make sure he understands that you aren't doing it for him, you are doing it for you! It will give him the will to go on much longer if he feels needed. Glad to see that it all seems to be working out and that you did find him and were able to help him.

All the very best to you my friend and many more to come!

I'm busy all day Saturday but as far as I know I don't have any comitments for Sunday YET (I'll have to check with Sue to confirm) give me a call when you get a chance and we can see if Sunday works. I know next weekend is out, I've been invited to fish Lake O with a good friend and I'm not going to miss out on that.

LOL Skeeter, I've never been a good one for posting pictures. Anything worthy of a picture is usually too big to eat and gets released as quickly as possible. Besides I'd have to photoshop any pictures I took to insert the CN tower

Well Maureen, I am so happy that you got a chance to get out and had a good day. I was hoping to get a chance to see you but by the time I got home from work, you were already gone. As far as making this a tradition; as long as I own this place you can count on it!

Now, that might be a nice option! You'll just have to come up here fishing and we'll get some for you to take home and smoke! BTW, your dad picked up your motor today, we went down to the lake and it started first pull, runs like a new one!!!!!! I'm sure you'll be happy with it!

Just lately and only on OFC so far I'll be reading a post and all of a sudden there is a word in blue with a double underline and it links to this thing called "internet cork board". Is anyone else getting it?

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. BTW, another stellar evening of fishing with 1 over and three in the slot and a couple released.

So, last weekend Shane and Michelle are sitting here on the deck with Sue and I pondering the problems of the world when I get a text from Rob and Simone. They were on the lake and wondered if they could stop by and say hi. Well everyone knows the answer to that It was wonderful, Shane was able to give Rob some pointers (and a couple of his secret "you going to catch fish" with these baits) and we had a nice visit. Rob and Simone headed out fishing and it wasn't long before Rob texted back a picture of a nice walleye and yes, he was using a Shane special! I had mentioned to Rob that I wasn't happy with the way my HDS5 was working and he offered to take a look at it for me (techy young guys)! Wed. evening I got text from Rob wanting to know if I'd like him to look at the HDS for me, just so happened he was back in the area. Naturally I agreed! Rob came over, we had a quick bite to eat (c/w a nice bottle of wine that Rob very thoughtfully brought) and headed out. It was obvious to Rob very quickly that something wasn't right with my HDS and he quickly discouvered that I didn't have the latest software. We fished for a few hours anyway with Rob just pounding the fish, walleye, crappie, and some real beauties at that (yes they were caught on Shane's special). I was the perfect host and only caught a few little perch. When we came in, Rob got on line and downloaded the updates I needed. Last night I installed the updates, man what a huge difference! Then I headed off to hook up with Rob and his mom, Pat. As I approched their boat I saw Rob release a nice size muskie (Pat had caught it) (sorry Rob LOL). Anyway, we are going to head out tonight, Rob has very kindly allowed me to bully him into fine tuning my HDS for me and I look forward to another very enjoyable evening on the water.! Rob and I are off for another wonderful evening of fishing very shortly and I am really looking forward to having my belovid HDS working better than it ever has!

I started hunting when I was 7 years old and in the last 60 years I've I have spent a lot of time in the bush. I can't say that I have ever SEEN a cougar but I can tell you that about a year ago we had something in the yard right next to ours at about 4:30 in the morning. It was big, it wasn't a wolf, bear, or anything I had ever heard or seen before. I couldn't get a clear look at it because of some trees but the moon was bright enough to see that it was large and the sound it made was unlike anything else I have ever heard in the bush. I am convinced that it was a couger just by the way it was moving.

Well, now that I am back on line (at least partially LOL). This was a wonderful day of fishing with two fantastic people! There were often double headers and sometimes, by more than one person at the same time. (Actually at one point all three of us had a double header at the same time).A lot of the fish were small but there were a few nice ones thrown into the mix just to keep it interesting. I'll be inviting both of them over for a day on Sturgeon lake in the very near future! Thanks again to both of you for the wonderful day on the water and some pretty good fishing to boot. Oh, and BTW, a big thanks to Beverley for the thoughtful, on the road lunch she provided. That was well above and beyond. A good fishing trip, some fish thrown in to boot and two more new friends! How do you top a day like that?
