  1. The main reason I am looking at All weathers is in case I have to downsize (moving next year) I want to avoid having a second set of tires taking up space plus the headache of seasonal changeover.

The fact that they are approved for winter tire discount is the second reason for getting them.

So far unless hankook decides to come out with my size by next winter, looks like I must narrow it down to the the other 3 (Nokian, Yokohama, Toyo).

Yokohama geolandar G015 is a fairly new tire so not much in the way of reviews.

Toyo Celsius CUV also a fairly new tire.

Nokians I have heard mixed reviews as far as noise is concerned.

Thanks for the info thus far.

I actually changed tire sizes when replacing mine on the Honda.

Stock was 245/65/16 and I went to 245/70/16. They are a tad taller but there are many more options in that size.

What size are stock on your vehicle?

  2. Thanks guys for the quick responses. I know more about car starters in the last few hours than I have in a lifetime. To me the prices are based on what features are available. Many like VIPER which are on the cheaper price side that is on sale are easily upgraded to security systems once installed. The strange thing about the Viper system that is on sale at Best Buy right now a Viper system installed for $249.00 reg. $599.96, seems like a great deal but reading closely it says may need additional parts and labor. From $10.00 to $300.00. What? I know that is probably coming from the US site because labour is spelled labor and other places on the web site labour is spelled with a U. I will need to call them in the AM because it sure "looks" like a great deal. And labour prices may vary. A 50 buck saving going into Hamilton is no savings at all. It's 25 bucks in gas return, maybe more now that gas has hit $1.05 and if they need the vehicle over night or spend all day there it is 25 bucks for a cab downtown and back to Best Buy, another 50. A favour around here usually costs me $100.00 somehow. I can spend the night at the Marriot for around the same price as the free favour.

I will be making several calls in the AM. Thanks all for the info so far.

Depending on your vehicle you will need a device that ties the autostart into your vehicles computer system.

This enables the autostart to seamlessly connect and to bypass onboard alarm and ignition disable systems.

  3. I always get a kick out of the weather guys down South putting out windchill warnings when it's only like -15 with the windchill. Up here in de Nort EH they don't issue a windchill warning until the temps drop below -50 with the wind.

Heck at those temps the kids in the K-6 school across the road from work are still out having a ball at recess!!!

Here's a little chart for your pleasure!!! :whistling:

  4. I also have a propane forced air unit in my place here in Yellowknife.

    Yes, they are quite loud.

Mine also clicks when it fires up.

There is also a fan in the vent stack that works with the pressure switch.

These fans tend to crap out after a while as well. They let the system know if the flue is blocked.

They won't fire if it is blocked so the house doesn't fill with CO.

My furnace bought the farm on Tuesday.

Had a new one installed as well as a new secondary regulator.

The new furnace clicks differently than the old one because it uses an igniter rather than a pilot light.

First there is a slight click as the vent blower starts and 15 or 20 seconds later there is a small click followed by two louder clicks as the igniter fires up the burner.

The lod clicks are the supply solenoid while the quieter click is the igniter.

Thats pretty neat those devices can do that. Which is better the raymarine or the sonarphone? You just have to keep paying for navionics + every year Id imagine.

Id think the cost is more than $300 though, especially if you need to buy an Ipad. It looks like that Raymarine is $300 on its own, then you gotta buy Navonics and a Ipad.

You need to remember that the screens on phones and tablets are pretty poor in direct sunlight while dedicated units are optimized for outdoor use.

Remember that you will also need a waterproof case for your phone or tablet unless you only want to use it on nice days. ;)
