  1. Ask Solo what I said every time I stuck another silver in Alaska while fly fishing. I think it went UGGGHHH, there he is!!! It's all in the grunt!!! Another one is FEEEEEEEEESH AWWWWWNNN, COMIN' DOWN!!!!!
  2. Most of the issues people have with reels limping along in frog water have to do with reels that need adjustment or tweaking. I spend a lot of time tweaking my reels when I get them just for that purpose. The main culprit is too much side pressure on the bearings. i.e. either the centerpin retaining screw is too tight or if the reel has a spacer between the two bearings it is too long. I bought a Rave Vectra as a backup to my backup to my back up and when it arrived I could tell right away that this was the problem (spacer too long) using some 200 grit sandpaper and patience I removed between .0001 and .0002 of an inch from the end and it is a completely different reel.
  3. I used Tremclad aerosol paint to camo up my aluminum canoe 10 years ago and it hasn't fallen off yet.
  4. Scott They're shutting it down for "Routine" maintenance this weekend.
  5. Nah, just twist it like you were removing it normally. When they break they usually just detach from the base. They don`t usually shatter. But for your own safety wear eye protection.
  6. The Sub Hunter Too is mightyest sailing ship to ever ply these waters you scurvy dog!!!
  7. Keep it up sparky and I'll leave you stranded on an island in the middle of the East Arm when you come to visit.
  8. Mikey You of all people should know that tackle and techniques can cross over between species. There is lots of good info on tackle and techniques on that board.
  9. I would be getting your sled back in the same condition you took it in there. Next I would be going to the SkiDoo or Yamaha dealership and trade it in on something good. And for cripes sakes NEVER TAKE ANYTHING IN THERE TO BE FIXED EVER AGAIN!!!!!!! Never buy anything off them again and spread the word that they are rip off artists and not to be trusted. Hanging is too good for these !!!
  10. Mike Do a search here: Stripers On Line The beach chuckers have a lot to say about ABU's and other good quality reels. Lots of info on tweaking them too.
  11. Like I needed another reason to retire in Smithers!!!!!
  12. a 5 gallon pail lid with styrofoam SM glued to it and a slot cut in it for the tipup.
  13. Gee, I don't know what the problem is I was driving all over the lake this weekend and didn't have any problems. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, it could it be the three feet of ice on our lakes up north. A truck did go through the ice at the gravel pit in October though.
  14. Even after 25 years I'm still kicking myself in the for passing up a sweet deal on a 1969 Ford Talladega Cale Yarborough Special. I didn't have the cash at the time and when I approached the owner 2 years later when I had the $$$$ he had decided to keep it!!!!
  15. I owned a Chevy once and that was enough to turn me off them for good. I have owned several Fords and they were a little better but not a whole lot. And I have had 2 Dodges and they were the worst of the bunch. My last 4 vehicles have been Japanese/American and between the four I have put on over 3/4 million km and had less than $2000 in repairs between the lot. An added bonus is they don't start to fall appart as soon as you drive them off the lot. In a full size SUV I would take a Nissan Armada or Toyota Sequoia, I would even take a VW Toureg over any North American made vehicle.
  16. Backgrounds??? DOH, I thought they said Foregrounds!!!!
  17. Paul, I was just there and it's still messed up.
  18. You can buy an Ice fishing transducer for that finder. Couple that with a Vexilar Foam Float and you're good to go. Ice Ducer Vexilar Float (1/2 way down page)
  19. Mikey, I guess I shouldn't have cancelled my trip back east huh!!!! Instead I decided to stay in beautiful tropical Yellowknife!!!!
  20. I would say El Chupacabra by the looks of things.
  21. First off, what brand of computer is it? Name brand (HP, Dell, IBM) or one of te clones out there? If it is a major manufacturer you should be able to order a replacement OS disk for a fraction of the $$$$$ of purchasing a retail box of either XP or Vista. Contact the manufacturer or check their web sites. If it is a clone check with the shop you purchased it from and see if you can get a replacement disk from them. Most brand name and a lot of the larger clone manufacturers have OEM licensing for their software. They have their own version of Windows that will only work with the bulk lot of licenses (Serial #'s) issued to them. For instance Dell's Windows disk will only work with the software SN included with a Dell machine etc.
