  1. Will be working on getting the new transom into the boat this weekend. Still got some time before the ice goes out up here in da North EH.
  2. Yup, don't know how they figure out the price. Seems to go up 10-15% per year no matter what the price of crude is. ?
  3. So the Islanders swept the Pens and then the Canes swept the Isles and now Boston sweeps the Canes. Does that mean the winner of the Sharks/Blues series will sweep the Bruins for the cup?
  4. Check these guys out and see if they have what you need. https://ca.binnacle.com/
  5. I must admit that I did have a smile on my face when Williams popped the Rat on the beak during that faceoff. ?
  6. Just kidding!!! Still locked up tight here in de North country EH!!
  7. In the late 90's our place in Grand Valley took a direct hit on the TV antenna. There was much that got blowed up that day. We lost 2 phones, amplified TV antenna, stereo, several surge protector power bars, network switch and a computer as well as both garage door openers. Surprisingly the TV's and the sat receivers survived. The sat boxes just had to be reset.
  8. What is the distance from the bow to the water on your boat? Different styles of boats have different heights off the water. I would say to go with that length plus 18-24 inches. I know if I'm in water that would make my prop break the surface with that much shaft in the water I'd be looking elsewhere to fish. I have an 18' aluminium bass type boat that the original TM was 42" I think. I got a stupid good deal on my replacement unit that has a 60" shaft which is way more than needed. It came off a 19 foot Lund Pro-V which is much higher off the water but the price could not be ignored.
  9. As Bill says, wait until you mark them and sit right on top and have at er. Haven't used the Shimano jigs but have used other similar ones as well as Buzz Bombs with great success. Best colours are chartreuse, green/white, blue/white. FYI they can be deadly power jigging.
  10. Yes, dish in. Out to receiver.
  11. It came that way. My guess is so the keel doesn't hit the cross brace as you're pulling the boat onto the trailer. Don't know if I've ever actually had the boat touch it though. It is a good support for my transom saver.
  12. I have a 4 horse that I put on the back of my 18 footer when travelling to the East arm of Great Slave in case I have any issues with the main. With the 4 horse my boat tops out at 7 MPH but it pushes it along quite well.
  13. Got the hard part done. The rest should be pretty easy.
  14. Stringers are not an issue. The only wood in the entire boat is the core of the transom and two pieces of teak trim. Everything else including the floor is aluminium.
  15. Was looking at purchasing one but may just whip one up on the metal lathe.
  16. Wood. Got a sheet of 3/4" marine ply. If it lasts another 28 years I'll be old as dirt and might be in an old geezers home or dead.
  17. I love working on my boat. But I found something I don't like. Rebuilding the transom sucks in a big way. I guess it's not really that bad as it did last 28 years before needing replacement.
  18. It is a pretty cool tool. I can even import my floor plans and it overlays the map. I can see weak zones in the classes and halls and adjust my access points accordingly.
  19. NAH, it's cordless phones, wifi, game controllers etc. When I do a scan using heat mapper I get over 100 WiFi hot spots showing up just on the third floor. It's ridiculously congested. We are supposed to be getting a new campus as we transition into a polytechnic university. Time will tell if we get there before I retire though. https://www.ekahau.com/products/heatmapper/overview/
  20. NOPE!!! It means your router is dual band and when set up you can connect to either 2.4 ghz or the 5 ghz radio but not both at the same time. My wireless access points at the college I work for are dual band to help with congestion. We have 7 floors of apartments above us and because of that our top (3rd) floor suffers from a lot of congestion from all the wireless devices used in the apartments. 5G on that floor is more reliable as a result.
  21. My friends dad used to race drag boats. It was a 19' ski boat hull with a 458 ci big block Ford with a vee drive. Ran the 1/4 mile @ 115 MPH. He flipped it once but his parachute pulled him out of the boat as it blew over. Ended up with over 100 stitches down one leg that got torn up on the gunnel as he was getting yanked out by the chute. Gotta have nerves of steel to run those things.
  22. I wonder if Islanders fans wish they had JT now.
  23. Saw one of those on Heavy Rescue 401 last season. ?
  24. I've gone 80 in a buddies boat back when I was young and invincible. I'm old and brittle now sooooooo.............................
  25. DAYUM!!! Surprised they had no injuries.
