  1. Case in point my post above. That giant bow was caught in a stream that currently has over 1.6 million salmon in it!!!! Next yearis a pink year and there should be close to 7 million salmon in the river at this time of year. The fishing there is awesome because of one thing, yup, the salmon runs!!!! The bows get big scarfing down all them salmon eggs during the spawn. Without the salmon the rivers trout fishery would be just a shadow of what it is. PS it's one of them west coast fisheries.
  2. If you're not mechanically inclined arrange to take the boat into a marina/dealer etc. and have them do a complete inspection hull/systems/motor. You wnat to know stuff like 1/are there any soft spots in the floor or transom 2/does the motor have good compression etc. Also take it for a test drive. It's a big purchase just like a car and you wouldn't hand over $20K and hope for the best would you.
  3. I have a '91 and they are not the easiest staring engines around to begin with. I have found that the beast way to start mine when cold is to pump the fast idle lever a couple of times and leave it all the way up then push in the key (primer) and spin the starter, push in the key again while turing over. It will usually catch at this point, if not pump the fat idle lever a couple more times and push in the key and turn over again. Once the engine catches you will need to push in the key a couple more times (when the engine starts to stumble and the rpm starts to drop). Could be 2 or 3 times (depends on how fast the engine warms up). Once it runs on it's own drop the fast idle lever to a reasonable rpm to finish warming up. Can't wait to get a nice fuel injected 4 stroke for my boat.
  4. Click the check mark that coresponds to your engines year Here i.e. the check mark on the first row of the chart.
  5. Not here. I have to drive 3,000km to get there. I leave on the 3rd of September!!!! I'm mostly after them giant resident rainbows though. Like this 40"+ fish I posted earlier.
  6. While I haven't fished there in years I would doubt that anything has changed. My favorite depths to run lines at this time of year are 27' and 35'. Don't know why it's just where I always started. Run out to about 70 FOW and troll out until you start finding fish (or head towards the pack). Make sure to run cheaters too (extra lures in the water and you cover more depths). Trolling speed is usually in the 1.9 to 2.2 MPH range for me. Good Luck and post how you do.
  7. OOPs almost forgot. There are over 1.6 million sockeye and kings in the river already and the silvers are coming in good. Just not in Bowmanville!!!!
  8. Use the ones the marina sold you the BU8H's are incorrect for that engine. Check your serial# against this Chart This Chart shows the engines that the BU8H plugs are recomended for.
  9. Got this picture sent to me a couple of hours ago. It is a giant Alaskan Middle Kenai bow caught last week by a friends buddy. These guys are the reason I head there every September. Just 8 1/2 days to go.
  10. Those are the same type of plug that are in my 91 Merc 90hp. They are bulit that way for a reason. They don't foul as much or often as the available spark gap/generation area is much larger than on regular electrode type plugs.
  11. When I lived in Ontario my boat ins was through Meadowvale Ins. Brokers and the policy was with Dominion of Canada. Great policy (full replacement cost) and great pricing (300 and change a year on my $20K boat).
  12. You gotta be kidding me!!!! That colour is horrible!!!! Now a nice navy blue would be nice.
  13. Here's a better article on the storms last night. Storm Info
  14. Haven't got anything booked yet but do have 2 big trips planned. April to Florida for 10 days of flats fishing and my annual fall trip to Alaska. This years Alaska trip begins in 9 1/2 days and lasts for 38 days!!!!
  15. Better rethink that as most of the roads in question were built by the lumber companies so they can extract the lumber from the area. The gubberment just sold the access and timber rights to those companies.
  16. Looks pretty mellow out there. The worst of it has been staying to the North but there is a set of strong cells heading straight towards the Bruce. There's a nasty cell heading for Parry Sound too. Best be battening down the hatches!!!
  17. MEH, it was ok. Too bad you didn't have time to drop in Drew. Maybe next time. There is definately something special about that area. Probably the reason I spent 15 years up there. Reading this report brought back some memories and I may have to take a trip up again soon.
  18. Yes Paul Castellano has been on Bob's show as well as The Fishin' Canada show lately. Cast Adventures And yes that smallie is a giant!!!!
  19. More info here: http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/read/index.php?pageid=seism_read&rid=208314 Notice how close the epicenter is to the local nuclear plant. This is the site I use for all my important disaster info. http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php
  20. Well that seems like a complete cop out by the crown. If they weren't going to take it to court they should have let you know prior. I hope they are made to reimburse you for your time and expenses that you incurred because of their stupidity!!! May you hook into a freight train 'nook this afternoon Ron.
  21. Good luck Ron!!! Lets hope we'll have an internet hosted celebration later today.
  22. You are correct. Connect the yellow/brown and the green/brown together to the brown on the new plug.
  23. Can't you just stay at home and weed your own garden a lot cheaper?
