thanks I guess I will get the numbers, no reply to my emails yet
-
yeah it really is that big a deal only some people who asked the MNR were told no you don't need them and others like me were told yes you do need them.... I just want a clear in writing from the MNR office answer that I can carry with me, so when the same CO sees me on the water ,I can show him why I did not get a license
-
thanks I sent an email so I am hoping they reply with the same answer and I will post it so it can be printed off thanks for the info

yup here is the cut and paste pg. #6 BAIT LIMIT NOTES Baitfish 120 Includes those caught and or purchased. See list of permitted baitfish species. Bait-fish traps must be clearly marked with the name of the user. One dip-net no more than 183 cm (6 ft.) on each side if square, or 183 cm (6 ft.) across if circular, during daylight hours only (after sunrise and before sunset).

yhanks that helps but without a last name or email address it may be iffy could you cut and paste the whole thing with your question and their answer along with email address from the MNR and just XXXXXX@ whatever your name and address but keep theirs.. it will just help to legitimize it to any CO that questions it
-
thanks for the report too bad you couldn't get on the water..would have been cool
-
yup been there done that
-
on another website, it has been reported that it is only if being left over night and that the MNR has said they will be putting out a statement to confirm this I hope it's true
-
I have asked for a written reply and I will post it so we can carry it I still believe that this is just an over sight but till all the COs know it, I don't want a fine
-
yes the same regs has been posted here about 10 times ,but in no way supports what you are stating and "This reg is more for the individuals that set-up tents (canvas, plastic..etc..) and leave them out on the ice for extended periods." says you, not the regs..I agree that is what it should be but the regs do not state it and if you read all the post you will see that we have had many other MNR officials give different answers so it is still up in the air..we need it in writing to protect our selves from COs that don't know
-
yeah, I think it is just written wrong, but what if they decide to fine you not warn you..$150.00 isn't cheap in my world, so I don't want the fine and I am not sure about huts but with boats the numbers on a piece of paper will not cut it they need to be a certain size and permanent in nature and fastened in a permanent way to be legal ...I don't know but I can see huts having somewhat the same law.....and I can see them not excepting a piece of paper and tape holding it to any fish hut on the ice...... but you are right it may not be a big deal but if we don't approach them with the attitude that it's a big deal, they will not respond and the best end to this is they rescind the law
-
report..nothing that was short story, I mean a book great read, looks like a great time
-
yeah, I do agree with what you are saying but I asked a CO and he told me that the new reg states we need to register the portables huts, I did not ask if he would be enforcing the law.. and Fish Farmer called and got the same answer so at this time, I think we have to assume that we need to register them I have sent an email and I am hoping I can get someone to reply in writing that we do not need to register them if we do no leave them on the ice unattended over night....but I need it in writing to carry with me while on the ice I hope they are not this anal
-
well my atv wouldn't keep up to any snowmobile flying down the lake just give me the waypoint and I will find you..after you have the holes drilled....LOL looks like a great snowmobile

"You do not need to register an ice hut if it is a tent made of cloth or synthetic fabric that has a base area of two square metres (21.5 square feet) or less when erected." skeeter99 read it again ***you do not need to register an ice hut if it is a tent made of cloth or synthetic fiber**** that has a base area of two square metres (21.5 square feet) or less when erected." MY clam that is a tent type portable hut that is made of synthetic fiber but but but IS bigger than 21 sq ft when erected, SO I need to register it I have know idea what you are trying to saySTOP/u] if you had words of widom that has be miss understood please explain but I missed it

it does not say you can't use parts of the perch it does say that these are the only fish you can use as bait.. Baitfish Only the fish species listed below may be used as live bait: BAIT Anglers with a valid fishing licence may capture their own bait for personal use as follows: NOTE: The capture and use of bait is not allowed in some waters (see other Zone Regulations or Exceptions for the Zone you are fishing in). SALAMANDERS MAY NOT BE USED AS BAIT IN ONTARIO. Minnows Blacknose shiner Blackchin shiner Bluntnose minnow Brassy minnow Central stoneroller Common shiner Creek chub Eastern blacknose dace Emerald shiner Fallfish Fathead minnow Finescale dace Golden shiner Hornyhead chub Lake chub Longnose dace Mimic shiner Northern redbelly dace Pearl dace Redfin shiner River chub Rosyface shiner Sand shiner Spotfin shiner Spottail shiner Striped shiner Suckers White sucker Longnose sucker Others Central mudminnow Lake herring (cisco) Trout-Perch Sticklebacks Brook stickleback Ninespine stickleback Sculpins Mottled sculpin Slimy sculpin Darters and Logperch Blackside darter Fantail darter Iowa darter Johnny darter Least darter Rainbow darter River darter Tessellated darter Logperch then it states in exceptions that perch can be used in some great lakes so maybe you can use parts a guy in anither board said he asked and was told not perch parts on simcoe, but who knows, these days if I can't get it in writing form the MNR I don't trust it
-
sorry, on some lakes like simcoe you can not use perch as bait
-
OhioFisherman , wouldn't you know they made using perch for bait illegal too...we just can't win
-
yeah I wrote pretty much the same thing I think I said it would cost 150 bucks to get the numbers on a fabric hut and would need new/additional numbers for each zone I fish over the winter
-
yeah I talked to a CO and he said all huts greater then 21.5, if they touch the ice they need numbers and that is the problem with the MNR each person that works for them seem to have the right to interpret the regs how they see fit I am trying to get an answer in writing one way or the other
-
yes they are stating that anything but a small one man 4X5 or smaller anthing bigger need to be register with numbers
-
well it is still as clear as mud and I am hoping they state that they are only needed when you leave it on the ice overnight, when they reply to my email but till then we must register them..I guess
-
oh I could see the ice and the outline of simcoe <a href="http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c52/Mrbeee1954/?action=view¤t=Untitled-1-2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c52/Mrbeee1954/Untitled-1-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

our thoughts are with him

that is not what they are saying now the have stated and used the word tent and portable people send an email to the mnr tell them it is stupid here is the spot on their website to email mnr email feedback here are the regs Q3: Why is there a need to register ice huts in some of the new FMZs? A: Ice hut registration is now required in zones 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20. Many individual lakes or districts currently require ice hut registration. Registration at a zone-wide scale and the setting of standardized ice hut removal dates were introduced to make it easier to determine where ice hut registration and removal dates apply and to assist with enforcement. Ice hut registration assists Conservation Officers to ensure all ice huts are removed prior to ice break up by enabling them to identify the owner of the ice hut. * In this Zone, only a few waterbodies are open for winter fishing – see Additional Fishing Opportunities for Zone 17. • You do not need to register your ice hut in Zones 1-8 and 13. • You do not need to register an ice hut if it is a tent made of cloth or synthetic fabric that has a base area of two square metres (21.5 square feet) or less when erected. • Ice hut registration numbers must be at least 6.3 cm (2.5 in.) in height and clearly displayed on the outside of the hut. • Whether or not an ice hut removal date applies to your Zone, it is an offence under the Public Lands Act to leave your ice hut out after ice break up.
