  1. clearly there are varied views on this and I think having equipment that is made for large fish is better but there is no law or reg that says what you can catch them on and I do put any one fish above any other fish so you have the right to catch them on anything you like and what people are saying here are suggestions, nothing more.. that what you want from this thread
  2. sounds like a real good day
  3. if you can get it on a computer any Printscreen program will print a screen shot of the map from your computer monitor
  4. looks like you guys did well
  5. well it's nothing like the other issue....... except closed access to all but fly-ins
  6. having the right equipment is the way to go however I fish for muskie every year and I use the right equipment........but somehow I catch most of my muskie on light spinning rods if they don't bit me off in the first couple of seconds I almost always get the in the boat fairly fast.. now I do use 20/ 30lb braid on my reel but I do not tighten up the drag..you can easily burn out the reel what I do in the case of a big fish is put my finger on the spool to stop it from spinning and pull back on the rod then quickly take up the slack with the reel with my finger off..then repeat till the fish is in the boat use the rod and not the reel but if you are targeting muskie get the right stuff for the job
  7. our thoughts are with you and your family
  8. I still don't know what to think I can somewhat see both sides of the coin but I can say that I had been going to a lake by atv north of sudbury for years it was a real hard run so very few people made the trip and the lake was great by mistake( so they say) a new logging road was cut too close to a lake along the path I took..so they closed it to all motorized vehicles and now I can no longer get to my lake that's the main reason I quit going to the shiningtree area...
  9. it was a great trip I always figure I should say the good and the bad I would hate to hear someone went to a fly-in after reading my report and found some bad things and I didn't say it like it is... there was nothing really wrong ..problems happen everywhere and are just part of the experience
  10. Yeah it was a great trip a few problems doesn't take away from the joy of the trip http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55985&st=0&p=610043&fromsearch=1entry610043
  11. well sounds somewhat positive thanks for standing up for everyone
  12. I totally understand where he is coming from he saved and saved and through hard work and sacrifice was able to come up with enough money to buy his dream home on the water only to find every boat owner and fisherman thinks he can come around and disturb his perfect world.. and some arrogant fishermen even think they can flip his docks...I mean come on this is his property, his dream, his life, damn it his castle ..and he will defend it any way he likes of course he is dead wrong...but I do understand his opinion it would be like me in the city trying to kick people off the side walks or streets around my house because it is my castle and how dare people think they can disturb my life ...kids making noise and skateboarding around my property..the nerve Shirley I have the right to kill them hurt them take their boards... the real world is not always what we dream, get over it
  13. I find the easiest way is not to get bird nests then you don't have to remove them and when I am spending a day skipping baits I make a cast farther then I will be skipping and then put a bit of electrical tape on the spool and reel back in and skip till my hearts content ... no bird nests period
  14. well I think it was for using a fishing rod in public, in an area you can't do that
  15. good luck
  16. I would think roping off part of the lake would need a permit to be legal...think I will rope off cooks bay......if it's not illegal and to post a sign would be 100% illegal if the MNR didn't post it hey lets all go there this saturday and park our boats all around that area and flip his docks..which is not illegal
  17. yeah they came to my house 2 seconds into it I knew it was a scam..but I played along somewhat... they insisted I had to sign or I would not get gas anymore...I told him he was an idiot and it was the worst prepared scam I had ever heard...he yelled at me and said if I didn't sign I wouldn't get gas I threatened to beat him to a pulp and said to him " you dumb (insert a dirty word here), I don't even have gas..we are on oil here"...ah good times..LOL
