  1. Worms are definitely out there! Got about 100 or so last night. Good enough for some fishing and for my red arowana... he gobbled up 5 jumbo worms fresh from the lawn!
  2. They're being pulled out of there already?! Might have to drop the canoe in and give it a shot sometime... that water really is disgusting though!
  3. Saw quite a few robins around this weekend as well. Always a sign of spring
  4. Excellent advice Ryan! Time to put away the ice gear and dust off the ice out crappie and steelhead stuff!
  5. Excellent recap on our ice fishing adventures this year. Hopefully next year, we do better! I still laugh out loud everytime I am reminded of your tube falling down the hole... and us playing around with the finder in flasher mode to see something going straight down quite fast. "Quick! Intercept it!"... when we finally realized it was your jig that fell down the hole, it was so hilarious! HAHAHA.
  6. Nice DIY setup brifishrgy! Filtration looks good. I have got 8 tanks going on as well... consisting of mostly africans. My main tank is a 180 gallon which houses: a chili red asian arowana indonesian tiger new guinea tiger northern thailand tiger clown loach blue phantom pleco leopard cactus pleco The other tanks contain colonies of african cichlids...mostly from lake tanganyika. tropheus moorii lufubu tropheus moorii ilangi tropheus moorii "golden kazumba" cyathopharynx furcifer ruziba cyathopharynx foai karilani black calvus white calvus and a tank of labidochromis caeruleus and pseudotropheus demasoni
  7. nice pied balls... i used to have a pair of regular balls, but sold them to a teacher for education purposes. having left the reptile hobby, all i have left is a single leopard tortoise (looks close to being ivory though ) i used to have: ball pythons veiled chameleons panther chameleons various types of turts and torts including red foots, leopards, diamondback terrapins, indonesian box turtles, side necks, etc.
  8. Sinker, which side are you fishing? I have yet to land an eye... and the slabs seem to be getting fewer and smaller. Will, I would go deeper. Look for 7-8 FOW. Preferably with weeds (Green = good, Brown = bad) Bite really picks up at about 5-6PM. Try to fish between 4 and 8PM and you should have more luck.
  9. I was considering getting the 565 at first, but spent a little more and got the 345c. I took the unit out this past weekend and we were fishing in about 72 feet of water. At one point, I rigged my GF's rod with a 3" minnow and a split shot about 6" from the hook. When zoomed in, you could see both the minnow and the sinker at the bottom of the lake. Play with the sensitivity settings.
  10. Contact jediangler. Send him a PM. I bought my 14' wide transom sportspal canoe from him and it was equipped with 2 removable swivel seats and cup holders. Excellent craftsmanship. The canoe is stored in the garage right now, so I can't get any pics. I agree that it is one hell of a fishing machine. I've landed lots of fish in it, including muskie.
  11. I was thinking the same thing! Wow!
  12. Cool pics...what compels them to jump in and swim? Exploring different territory? Islands?
  13. After going into the water, tailing the fish, holding it up for the shot, and releasing it... I could no longer feel my hands. Pretty much ruined the rest of the day for me as my whole body when cold right after! I should invest in nice warm waterproof gloves...
  14. I thought that conditions would be very ideal today. Checked a couple of tribs and some were unfishable. Came upon one that looked awesome. Unfortunately, the fish did not cooperate. Everyone I talked to had a horrible outing. I at least managed a couple solid hits and landed one. Last fish of 2009. Bring on 2010! Picture is pretty blurry. My fault as I had the camera on another setting and forgot to change it when the pic was snapped.
  15. I got my thermal underwear (shirt and pant) at walmart for my late fall/winter wading.... so far so good. Keeps me warm.
  16. Agreed...they are completely biodegradable...great stuff. The mould must've happened due to the container drying out. I've never experienced mould myself, but the plastic becomes rock hard
  17. Actually if you look closely, there is a red hook in the mouth... a red gamakatsu octopus hook in size 10 which is what I use . This fish had 2 other hooks in it's mouth! I guess she snapped two people off before committing to my offering! I did remove the other hooks before letting her go in hopes she makes it upstream to do her thing in the spring.
  18. Man, if you can recognize root/trees on the shoreline, I'll give you props! You must be out there everyday! As KelfuN said...no fish on bags. IMO, these fish have seen so many bags go by that they are probably irritated by them... especially on busy weekends! Seems everyone swears by roe, but I have yet to land any fish on it. Carry a diverse selection of stuff to throw at them and they'll eventually turn on Saturday was OK. Only had one big fish on that took me for a ride...but eventually broke me off by snagging up on something during a powerful downstream run. Lots of ice and slush to avoid that didn't make for good drifts Thanks Cliff. One of these days I hope to bump into you on the river. I would love to get me some night time chrome!
