  1. Good to see you getting into some of them big cats. Hard to put the rod away on good days like that.
  2. I envy the sunsets you enjoy, but I do not envy the blackflys that should be coming your way soon
  3. I'm surprised the marina wasn't trying to chase you out of there. They've been right nasty some years.
  4. Water temps get to be soup warm with 0 flow by summer. Not a good place for wee trouties.
  5. IF it's an Atlantic, there are going to be a lot of very surprised biologists. Place hasn't been stocked in well over 20 years with chinook and rainbow, not sure about browns
  6. Despite the damage that has been done, the fish are running in from the lake and the spawn is on. Yellow perch have finished and now feeding. White perch and drum are moving in. As are the big schools of shiner. A little sampling from today. Despite the fact it looks like a stink hole, it is still a spawning ground for major sportfish. Found a couple of frye in my baitnet making their way out to the lake. What a great way to spend 5 hours.
  7. 83cms is still a respectable pike, especially in Southern Ontario. Further north the target is for 100cm. A lot of people here still look at pike as garbage fish, but there is nothing better for making kalamojakka.
  8. That is how one bonds with one's child. Ta heck with school. Father son/daughter time is important. The tings memories are made of. Besides you can learn more outdoors just observing than you can in a stuffy classroom.
  9. Just have to enjoy the rewards of a nice day on the shore. Even the pups did their part chasing the fish to shore.
  10. Unfortunately, at this time, no matter how many CO's there are, it will never be enough. Not as long as there is a fundamental lack of respect for the laws of the land.
  11. I think the girls would have been a bit Eewwww like Did strictly C&R for the outing.
  12. You need A Fudd. Or, "this 'Fudd's' for you"
  13. Spent part of the day, yesterday, visiting with the daughter. Of course, brought the rods and headed to Bayfront. Bite was slow, but we managed a few fish, cats and suckers. photobucket is acting up, but problem solved.
  14. The insurance thing is such a pain. They, naturally are in the business of generating a profit. Regretably, the common practice is to drop clients and properties with repeat claims. They will 'forgive' the first, and maybe the second, claim, but by the third you are done come renewal time. As for LTI, I'm surprised you are getting it with COPD unless you had the coverage before you were diagnosed. Most insurers decline medical conditions that predate your initial app for insurance, whether that be life, LTI, even mortgage insurance.
  15. It's O.K. for a lady's beer. Nice work all the same despite your choice of brew, Jacques
  16. First, the management admin of the MNR have to be convinced of the value and viability, but more importantly, one has to convince the politicians to cough up adequate coin and commitment for such a program. To be honest, the folks at Queeen's Park can't see beyond the next election, let alone throw together planning for a future one to two decades from now. That goes for Mcguinty and Hudak
  17. What a wild game. Love it.
  18. I was going to suggest tater skins stuffed with a mix of cheddar, bacon, chopped green onion and shrimp
  19. Blame has to rest with a justice system that dumbs down the punishments til there is no deterrent, and to the liberals and tories who, over 2 decades, have stripped the ministry's manpower and budget.
  20. You had a great outing. Well done.
  21. Calling TIPS will work. It just takes time. If you call and a CO is in the vicinity, he/she can act. Does not work if the CO is the other side of the county. TIPS is not 911 dispatch. It is an info source similar in some regards to Crimestoppers. The more calls placed to TIPS, the more attention will be paid to your specific area. It does not happen overnight. Repeat complaints have brought about enforcement blitzes in problematic areas, but requires drawing in extra manpower resources. I've seen 30-40 people get tagged in a single blitz. It happened because numerous repeat calls to TIPS helped them identify a problem area. In Niagara we have 3 CO's covering the region 24/7. 2 years ago we had 2 until they realized, from call volume, that resources were inadequate. Still not enough but an improvement.
  22. I always thought coonskin caps made a fashion statement
  23. There is Massey creek running through the property at Pine Hills Cemetary
