  1. That's always a rough one. Seems to me that labs are special dogs, they grow on you like no other. My sympathy.
  2. Do you have any idea how that sounds.
  3. Mmmm Lamprey Pie, one of my favourites. http://whatscookingamerica.net/History/Pie.../LampreyPie.htm
  4. Everytime I hear the news of another fallen soldier I feel like a piece of me is torn out. For those that wish to show their respect. Here is a link.http://www.cfrb.com/node/839002.
  5. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the info Rodpoddy. Carp tackle, especially weights are not cheap and I have been thinking of making my own.
  7. Steelcat. That looks great. Your friend is an artist. Who da thunk.
  8. ps. it's a bummer that a fun thread like this had to go south on us.... You are certainly right about that. Too bad some people don't know the difference between fun and hateful garbage.
  9. PM sent.
  10. I am a second generation Canadian. Nobody used the term racist but you two. I looked this up. idâ‹…iâ‹…ot   /ˈɪdiÉ™t/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [id-ee-uht] Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. an utterly foolish or senseless person.
  11. I did not use the word racist. You did and if the shoe fits wear it. Do you seriously expect me to believe that you have never seen anyone target carp and take some for eating? Where have you done most of your fishing Inuvik ?Do you fish with your eyes closed? You did not say " I am saying that given the choice, most ppl seem to prefer to eat fish other than carp? " You said "Of all the people listed who eat carp, ie, Polish, Russians, Japanese just to name a few, I have never seen these people catch and keep carp in Ontario." As to carp being easy to catch. Yes they can be, they can also be tough to catch just like any other fish. Like I said "garbage."
  12. I would prefer eating carp rather than swallow the garbage you just spewed out here.
  13. Cool, except only one is a fish.
  14. Yes they were brought here over a hundred years ago as a food fish. They did not escape from ponds however but were stocked in rivers and lakes from one end of the continent to the other.
  15. Enjoy! http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/forum/inde...?showtopic=3563 Nothing wrong with eating carp. Millions of Europeans and Asians do.
  16. Your right the belly meat is too fatty and jelly like but the meat from along the back is snow white and very firm while the meat from the tail section is good too. I have eaten their roe and liver fried in butter. The liver is very mild and the roe is tasteless mush. One more thing I was not aware that ling/burbout were in lake Erie. Are you sure your not talking about bowfin?
  17. Thank you sir.
  18. During the first winterstorm it's always an SUV or a 4x4 pick-up that are the first to crash.
  19. What's JB's?
  20. Have you tried float fishing them?
  21. Great year end report. Some excellent fish. You really show the variety of fish available to versitile anglers. WTG!
  22. That is cool. Thanks for the great write up. One more way to enjoy carpin. Is that just a couple of split shot about 16" from the hook?
  23. I know some centrepin guys that love fishing carp. They say there is nothing like it. Now that we are learning to catch carp all year long it just expands their opportunities to catch big powerful fish. The biggest carp that I have seen caught was by a center pin fisherman. I was 42 lbs. I guess if you get enough practice on rainbow you can move up to the "red octobers" of our waters.
  24. WTG! Spinnerdoc. Congradulations on the fish you caught and welcome to the fraternity of carp nuts. If you are looking for a good entry level carp rod Bass Pro has the Shimano Alivio's on sale for $59.99.( reg. around $100) I would get one in 2&1/2 or 2&3/4 pound test curve.
