  1. thats a long shot/lucky shot. hahah i'd show some but havnt shot at a target other than clays in a few years!
  2. perfect they usually start 3-4 days later here that southern ontario K-W brampton that kind of area
  3. do you have any other chokes at your disposal you can put to the test? 100 in a pie plate at 40 yds means my gun sucks! but it has dropped birds at 45 gotta ask, does it really take 100 pellets?
  4. ok so especially for 3 1/2 i would say thats a pretty crappy pattern. it could be the choke or the shot maybe a few things, gonna have to keep shootin, at 40 with a good choke and 3 1/2 you should be puttin 50+ in a kill area.
  5. they do swim very well they work quite well also, i own 2 of them and use them very seldom although they do work. if you enjoy tossing jerkbaits and crankbaits they are worth the price. personally i'm more of a soft plastic guy Matt! if the wife likes em go for it and buy a doz. haha
  6. when you try for one with the bow richy are you going to be using a broadhead or one of them lob the head off kinda blade heads?
  7. what size of shot were you using richy? 3" 3 1/2 ? i know at 40yds with 2 3/4" plain jane full choke i'm hittin close to 40 pellets in a "kill zone" that seems like a big pattern if your shooting 3 or 3.5 inch shells with a good choke.
  8. keep it nice and quiet, 22 shorts! hahah
  9. Hahaha thats true there are a pile of them around here too! IGA No Frills Independednt.
  10. i'd be wearing 100% camo if your gonna wear a habs toque heheheh good luck on the kitty cats guys
  11. can anybody post the link that has the aerial view of ice/water colour? please and thanks i cant remember what it is. Matt!
  12. welcome to zone 11 the crapshoot zone! unless you LOVE to perch fish after march 16th
  13. just wondering from a few of the more southern folks on here if anyone knows if the smelt are running yet? if so where abouts to give me an idea thanks in adv. Matt!
  14. good to know, i've tied a few more now and the large soft plastic swimbait i'm working on is just about cured and ready to shape.
  15. thanks for the tips, i try using small amounts of hair and blue fox has a large 8-9 inch bucktail with willows on it, thats where the idea came from. thanks Matt!
  16. been looking pretty hard, they're here somewhere i know it, watched a monster 8 point and a large 10 all fall and into december/january hanging in the same place, 6 inches of fresh white here the past few days, makes it hard but not gonna stop me from gettin wet and cold! have ya found many nice sets yet? Matt!
  17. rangers fans get to chime in now hahahahah
  18. went for a walk today with my buddy rob (stylincatch) lookin for some antler sheds. didnt find a one but got a few cool pics. the first is an uprooted poplar tree where a brick yard existed years and years ago. (pretty obvious) second is near a small spring that sprays into the air and lastly is a few deer kinda shaky and blurry at about 80 yards just a few of the 30 we saw all within 100 acres and surrounded by city in one way or another Matt!
  19. 3-2 10-0 one way or another it equals 0 points in the standings
  20. cant remember the most ever but one trip last year saw almost 1000$ go down on some soft plastics, out of the sale bins too top it off, 6 banana boxes full!
  21. 10 shots were 16 bucks i think pretty cheap when ya only need 2 shots per year after ya get a pattern on it. 4-6 shots should give ya a real good idea on pattern, leaves ya enough shells to shoot a few birds this year.
  22. its nice when there not henned up they come running just like on tv! my first 5 my dad was with me and called them in for me, but the 6th one i was all alone and watched them roost the night before. easy right? set up and call them in. not the case hahah the park brake on my dads truck wouldnt release so i dropped off dad and off to my spot. i could smell it burning ( almost like the smell of welding) knew right away couldnt get it to break free so i parked and walked a mile down the road and got to my spot late so i had to set up 400 yards across the field i saw them in, wasnt gettin any closer the sun was coming up too quick. but to my luck not a hen in the country 3 jakes ran like the road runner to my mouth calls and i dropped the fisrt one to slow down from the pack otherwise it was a 3 in 1 shot kinda deal. next day the same two birds remaining wouldnt come close to my calls snuck up to 100 yards and turned out they had a hen with them. just the way it goes sometimes i guess. the plan this year is to return the favour for pops! his 50th is in the 29th so i'm planning on sittin back 20 feet and calling for him and video taping the whole ordeal if i can! as for the original Q i have no idea where the birds are just north of 89 hahhah Matt!
  23. have to agree with the most of them, love the chain picture, i think the shadow really does it.
  24. a lot of the specks in the park feed on insects primarily, i use dark colours quite a bit but white as well, the lakers we chase are always on a blue, silver spoons. my trip for 5 years in a row was the last week of May / first week of June. maybe that's why they were eating bugs so heavily. i have caught many big specks and many small ones likely 4-500 of them and they are still a mystery to me!
