Today, brother and I planned on heading up to our hunting grounds early and repair his ground blind that was in much needed repairs 3 sections needed to be replaced because of water damage and got it all done This time around, there was no ATV to haul our stuff up the hill so I new it was going to be hard work ahead of us Left home around 7h30am... pit stop for some hot brew and the way we go Got back at 5h30pm Weather wise, couldn't ask for a better day Kind of chilly early in the morning with temps at 4C and moderate winds.... as the day progressed, went up to 16C Did not forget my camera this time and snapped a few pics for your viewing pleasure Hope you enjoy!!! TJunkie Trail going up to our blinds This where we got stuck last week One of the boulders Up on top Trail leading to my blind A little further... Can you see it? Again front view, much clearer this time Shots of the feeder... Corn as been dissamated but not the carrots Three sections needed to be replaced (top, back and part of one side) Here after it was all removed... Happy brother Top view Part of one side After hauling our stuff from the trailer up the hill and getting busy installing new plywood, pleased to say that the repairs are 100% done and water proof View of the back View of the entrance side... even built a ladder to get in

For me, had the pleasure to meet 3 OFC members and share quality time with Mike the Pike, vinnimon and carll2. I truly enjoyed meeting them face to face and shaking hands... was like I've known them for the longest time The best part for me was being able to speak to each other in real time and share stories Mike, Vince and Carl, thanks ever so much for the time we spent together it was a real honor to meet you

Thanks waterwolf!!! Yeah pretty thick bush and no, riffle... it looks worse now with all the foliage still attached to the trees... come November, my shooting lanes should clear up a bit Always cool and exciting to be able to setup a tree stand in new territory Good luck with your opener on Monday Going back in the next few weekends to repair brothers blind... shouldn't take too long and have plenty of time before opener (November 3rd). Can't wait Be safe & shoot straight Jacques -

Your welcome Lew!!! Another way of hunting deer that I wish was legal in Quebec but allowed in Ontario is with dogs... here, they can only be used for bird hunting excluding the wild turkeys... The deer feeder in our case is pretty much the only legal way we can hunt deer Thanks again Lew!!! Definitely will take more shots when we go back B... The phone pics aren't as sharp as the camera... stay tune! -

Thanks lgf!!! That's the plan Lew... but like Harisson said, there's no garranty. We've been hunting this way the last 3 years and haven't seen any deers during the open season. The main purpose for the blind is to provide a dry environment for me while I'm out there. We do this because the land is not big (23 acres) and if we were to do a chase, would only take 10 min to walk up the mountain, another 30 - 45 min to walk accross and reach the other side of the property line. Then hunting is pretty much done for the morning... repeat in the afternoon. Too short if you ask me. Instead, we spend 3 - 4 hours in the morning and 2 - 3 hours in the afternoon sitting in the comfort of our shelters, waiting for a buck to come by We had to basically adapt ourselves to this type of hunting on this piece of land from what we were used to when we were hunting in a ZEC. Adjacent land owners do the same. Deers have lots of different places to feed, they move around from place to place. It's no different then using a caller or rattling to lure in a buck. Hope this answers your question Lew Jacques Thanks Harisson!!! Exactly Thanks iFish4real!!! and good luck to you too -
Finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for this project and couldn't be happier with the results Lots of preparations between my last fishing outing (Sept 14th) and this past Sunday. Brother and I made the long journey up to his lot near Mont Tremblant to meet our friend and install my ground blind in it's final destination Left around 8h00am and got back around 4h30pm. Can't complain, spending the day in the bush is what I truly enjoy This was a full days work without any snags... well sort of but without going into the details of it, went very smooth OK... since you're going to ask... picture this Friends ATV, Yamaha Grizzly, going up the trail with my brothers heavy duty trailer, full to the max and at mid point, one of the wheels on the trailer got stuck on a large boulder... couldn't go over ATV was going no where, front end basically didn't touch ground had to use the winch to get to the top Thank god it worked and had long enough cable to reach the trees to hook up to Once at the top, it was a breeze to unload the trailer Went straight to the deer feeder with a couple of 25Lbs bags of carrots and 30Lbs bag of corn Spread those around the feeder where we have a block of salt setup Lots of tracks and activity around Checked my brothers blind on our way back from the feeder and what a disappointment The heavy rain that we just had made a mess of 3 walls inside... mushrooms can be seen everywhere Going back in the next few weekends to remove the bad sections and install new ones One thing I regret, is not having my camera with me when all this was going on... so excited, forgot it at home but had my phone and snapped a few pics of the location Not the best but hope you enjoy. Outstanding report Mike What a journey Thanks for sharing.... Enjoyed every bit of it -
I wasn't sure if you guys had seen this before but thought I'd share Mrs took these shots on her lunch brake a while back... Don't know who the creator is but to me, this... a work of art if only it could be called graffiti She said that while going down the stairs... couldn't see a thing but once at the bottom of the stairs and turned around Enjoy! TJunkie Close ups

Looks like it was a riot Great report and pics

Wrong!!! Not for me... tried braid, didn't like it and went back to mono. All I use on my reels is Trilene XL Armor Coated in 10Lbs test and it's one tough line and there's no need for a leader, as I tie my main line directly to the lure Only time I use braid is for ice fishing
-
Thanks Brian!!! Don't I wish it was that simple Thanks paul_614!!!
-
Dara, I don't have the recipe per say, but the ones we use to make (friends recipe - deer sausage) would put equal parts of mince pork to equal parts of mince deer... The last few years, I get pepperettes done at a local butcher shop... same measurements for the guys recipe, equal parts of pork to equal parts of deer meat. Tjunkie

Thanks nofish4me!!! The thought did cross my mind... but this one is going to be staying in the bush year round
-
Thanks lgf!!! I will take it apart and put the panels in a trailer to transport it... once at destination (brother's lot), brother and I will carry each panel in the bush and put it back together again It will be a full day's work Once finished, we're going to check the deer feeder and drop some food
-
Thanks Stoty!!! Much appreciated
-
Thanks mon ami!!! Yeah that would most definitely be doable.... but where it's going to be setup and where I usually ice fish... your looking at 4+ hours drive Lots of work involved to setup, haul and setup again My current ice fishing shelter is one of the best around 2010 Cruze It's comfy, reliable and not too hard on the back for hauling

Thanks Dan!!! That camo pattern was something else to create This a full days of work It should blend real nice where it's going to be setup I'll try and get some shots when it's installed in it's permanent location
