  1. Peacocks would be a blast. That would be my preference because of my addiction to topwater fishing for anything.
  2. Awesome report bunk. That picture with the orange sky in the background is incredible.
  3. Great stuff guys. Some good info here. As for a weapon 2 of my friends are bringing shotguns as partridge opens the day before we get up there. That should suffice on scaring away any pesky bears we come across. It looks like I have a lot of this stuff already on the list. Good to know my head is in the right spot packing wise.
  4. When does the turnover usually happen northwestern ontario? I am a little worried about the turn over effecting my fishing on the 16th-23rd of september. It is a good size lake, 10km x 3km but is only about 30' deep max. Am I in trouble? Mid August seems like a safe bet.
  5. Wow that is a lot of information thank you. Also thanks again for the Map of the lake. I have it laminated and am going to leave it at the cabin for future use . .Thanks for the tips Mike... I believe those were already on the list.
  6. Awesome stuff guys. Seafom is one I did not have. On the list it goes.
  7. It seems that fly-in trip season is well underway. I have one coming up in September out of 7 Lakes in Nakina and want to be as prepared as possible for the drive and the trip itself. Is there anything in particular that is a must bring that is maybe out of the norm? It could be for the fishing, boat, cabin, or the ride up. I would think with the list I have been making since March that I have almost everything covered but I am sure some of the veteran fly-in guys might have something to add. Don
  8. I think people might be rolling their eyes just as you did at first. Personally I rule out the possibility of something living up there we don't know about. I would assume you would have to hear Leon tell the story personally to get the full effect. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Very well said Roy. Just another amazing report. I wouldn't mind hearing at least one of those stories. Skeptics can beat it!! Thanks again for the great Saturday morning read.
  10. Great report. Very well written. Thanks for sharing!
  11. The Hip - Wheat kings (Or any hip) John Denver - Take me home, country roads Steve Earle - Copperhead road Roger Miller - King of the Road North to Alaska - Dwight Yoakam (cover) Can't argue with any of the other posts either. I find country tunes are great on the way up as well.
  12. Wow. What a great family trip Mike. Thank you for sharing .
  13. There are about 10 other d-men i'd take in the league over the -15 Karlsson. You can keep him. The Leafs primary point getters are forwards.
  14. I agree Bill, I actually took it one step further and glued a square thin layer of plexiglass to the back of my boat for optimal suction. It has been great so far with no issues of coming off or twisting. Looks better as well
  15. Great read. You are doing a great job Dad. It's awesome to see how happy Sean was in the boat.
  16. One man's wilderness The story of Dick Proenneke's time in Alaska in the cabin he built by hand! The short film he shot with a 8mm camera is great as well, it's on PBS once in a while. I am sure most have seen the movie, but the book is awesome as well. One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey: Richard Proenneke, Sam Keith: 9780882405131: Books - Amazon.ca
  17. Really great to hear Wayne.
  18. Faulty truck tailgate cost me my entire tackle box. THAT was expensive.
  19. I bought one this winter, more because Canadian Tire was out of regular ones. Hooks won't go through.... have not had a chance to test it out really. Not a bad idea though I guess. As other said, I usually just air mine out anyway after a trip.
  20. Your right, But is he really any worse than anyone else in the government who rob the tax payers blind but say and do all the right things publicly? Is that what we should teach our kids? "Put on a good act when your screwing someone over". Look at Fords personal expense bill for the last two years. It's not much, but its something. I think he is actually looking out for the tax payers.... too bad he is a mess of a human being,
  21. Awesome stories as usual bunk. Some serious adventures there!
  22. For some reason he talks to the viewers and his wife like they are 5 years old.
