  1. Believe me, we made lots of noise as we went in. Just in case it was taking a nap on one of the beds.
  2. This is the second time in 25 years a bear has broke in. First time one has actually got into the cabin. The camp hasn't been used much this year so it has been quiet up there. Also there was moose droppings on a near by trail as well. I will find out what has been done about it when I head back up there in 2 weeks
  3. Hi All, I don't post much but thought this was interesting. I was up at my uncles cottage on the french river a couple weeks ago for a family vacation weekend. I head up there every year in sept for a week trip for some hard fishing, but this trip was more cottaging oriented then fishing. I did manage to talk my father and my uncle into heading back to a lake that my uncles family has a camp on. It has some decent bass and pike fishing so i was excited to get back there. It was a cold day with the fishing a little slow so we decided to head in to the camp to get out of the wind and rain. As we got out of the boat I noticed the screen was ripped to the front porch. As we unlocked the door and went inside this is what happened. Those pesky bears. It looked like someone had left pop bottles and some dog treats in a garbage bag on the screened in porch. I figure thats what got his attention. We actually went back the next day as well to look at the damage again and there was bear scat where it wasnt yesterday. The bugger had been back again to see if he had missed anything.
  4. Would this be the second time they went up there? I have Seen an episode this year where the were Fishing spring pike on the attawapiskat river. Can't recall the date I saw it though.
  5. Nice report. Love the area and some good fish there. As for your question about the Musky, not a lot of people actually take the fish to mount it. A picture and the measurements and you can have a very nice replica made. Further more if i am not mistaken the regulations say it has to be over 48" to keep a Ski in zone 11.
  6. I bet if the stretcher wasn't out there and Hossa makes it to the bench we aren't talking about this hit on the same level. Example, his hit on Seabrook last year. He gets up after being ko'd. No suspension.
  7. I agree with Sinclair 100%. Scott Stevens had done this countless times in his career. Where did it change from big hits to dirty hits? This hit was a bit late but whatever happened to "keep your head up"? Be Aware of who is on the ice There is a lot of admiring passes and skating with your head down going on in the NHL today. Being a defenseman that played a hitting game its tough to watch every "big hit" get looked at by shanny. This one was called right during the game. 5 min charge and a game. But 6 games for hitting a guy that is fine the next day. Come on. Looked bad at the time though and glad he's fine.
  8. I'd say thats a little harsh. Especially from someone who has never played the game before.
  9. Hey just because we out number your fans 2 to 1 in your own rink and its the only place in the league that has the captain boo'd at home is pretty amazing really. Also if the game isnt done by 11 the people in kanata call and complain about the noise and they shut the lights off and tell everyone to go home.
  10. Another awesome report. well done
  11. Well take the live bait off your jig head then. And don't you think a shoelace might look like a leech. Throw some top water lures on. You can't tell me that is boring.
  12. Poor guy. All he wanted was to catch a 40lb walleye that night. Imagine he was actually fishing for Muskie? What would he use? A marlin outfit?
  13. If you haven't seen it. A story from the Ottawa sun. http://m.ottawasun.com/2011/11/17/huge--muskie-unbelievable-catch And i know I know. The hold.
  14. Actually bought a rapala volt for 50 from lebaron. Not the worst reel I have used but defiantly not the best. A little noisy but worth the money.
  15. Great shots irishfield. Very interesting looking water. Glad you got out for a trip. I saw your plane last year when i was in Temagami at what i assume is your cottage around this time last year. Shes a beaut.
  16. Looks like someone has the "Linder hold" down to a tee. . Nice largies. 4 lbers on top water... awesome.
  17. Great report. Always fun to read your stories.
  18. Wade was a great one. I was at the last game he scored a goal as a leaf. The crowd went crazy. The whole crowd chanting his name. Last game I was at in Toronto. Rip wade. Thanks for the memories.
  19. Congratulations on your first ski. I am sure you didn't post your picture to be lectured. Let's try and remember this is his first. Don't ruin it.
  20. Have one here in Ottawa. Not a bad store with a Lot of selection of lures. But to compare it to bass pro would be a mistake.
  21. Ya the dry birch burned very nice. Burnt all that wood that night.
  22. The road in was another awesome drive.... just made the trip that much better. Finally made it to our lake. We were excited to get out on the water because of the success we had last year fishing these trout. Two 16' boats waiting for us 15 mins in we were hooked up with our first small spec But then that was it.............. fished for 3 hours with not even another bite..... very weird considering last year with the same kind of conditions we caught 50 in an hour. So we made the decision to pack up and head back to the cabin and get in the evening fish. It was still a great adventure out with the boys.... As we got back to the cabin the weather started to break and it look like it was going to bed a decent evening for our last night on the lake. We got out for a few hours but not to many fish were caught... just a couple small ones. I did get one on the jitterbug which is always a lot of fun. That evening we had run out of wood..... we had seen a few piles close to the road into the cabin.... so we decided to go and get some that would last us for the evening. Day 4 - The end We were to be out of the cabin 12 so everyone was us early and cleaning the place out to get ready for the ride home. It was a sad day having to leave our own little piece of paradise but all good things must come to an end. I even brought a trophy to make the first official presentation for biggest fish...... but in the end i took my own award home It feels good to organize a trip with a group of good friends and have everything work out. Not all of these boys fish but they all had a great time... a few of them catching their pb fish makes me feel like i did my job. Thanks for reading BassMan (aka pike man) side note... sorry for the large picture... cant figure it out... also for the abundance of spelling mistakes.
