  1. Make sure you are using floro leader material and not mainline, there is a difference. I run regular power pro on all my setups.... even topwater. Also give this knot a try... I find it easier to tie than anything else and have confidence in it. Just make sure the line you use for the loop is the floro since the braid is easier to manipulate. Good luck in the season.
  2. No one cares Matt. All of the important teams are out of the playoffs expect Pittsburgh. I am sure the ratings would be through the roof for an Ottawa Nashville cup final hahahahahaha. The Leafs might be golfing at the moment, but I'd be willing to bet you a few bucks if they televised a Leafs golf tournament more people would tune in to watch that then the boring 1-3-1 Sens. And if you don't think Anderson stole that game you don't know hockey.
  3. Gteat choice MB2. I made a purchase myself last week. You will be happy with it Ready for the season. Now if the water levels in Ottawa would just go down a bit we will be all good to go!
  4. OK Matt what are the excuses? Too expensive? Too far? Government town? It was a weekday? It was a nice day? The Raptors were on T.V.? Patio's were open? Panfish were biting? The truth is Ottawa fan base is pretty much non existent most of the time and they have a boring on ice product to watch for the average fan. Maybe the city should pump the breaks on that new rink downtown. If the Sens still have a team in 2021 they could probably just go back to playing out of the Civic centre at Landsdowne. I think it holds a couple thousand people.
  5. Ahhh Batteries. Just went through all this as well. So you can take that $350 you saved on the charger and spend it on 1 "good" deep cycle battery like a NorthStar or Odyssey lol. If you have that type of budget. Or there are very good reviews on both the Everstarts from Walmart or The Kirklands from Costco. I have ran Everstarts for 5 years now and have not had any complaints about them. For my new 24V Ulterra I went with 2 Everstart Maxx 29D's at about $130 a piece. With batteries get the largest ones you can afford and have space for. Also charging with a good quality charger right after every trip is key to having the battery last a while. Hope this helps. 6. If you go the 3 Bank charger route I would recommend taking a look at one of these Noco genius chargers. IMO one of the best out there. And yes you just hook up all the positives and negatives. NOCO Genius GEN 3 On-board Battery Charger | Canadian Tire Another cheaper option would be to just keep your 2 Bank charger and let your motor charge the cranking battery but for piece of mind have one of these in the boat: Car Rover 1000A Peak 14800mAh Portable Car Jump Starter Battery Booster Charger Phone Power Bank, Jump Starters - Amazon Canada I have this particular one and it will jump just about anything from my V8 Sierra to the outboard motor. Not to mention charging your camera, phone, speaker, or whatever else you have in the boat. Just another idea Don
  7. I just went through this delemma. Basically as stated above if you have the room for two batteries ( 1starting 1 deep cycle for your master panel) that is the ideal setup. I did not have the room so I went with a dual purpose AGM battery with 800mca and 75ah (@20amp draw) because I could only fit a group size 24 battery in the compartment. If you do decide to go dual purpose and have the room grab a Kirkland group size 27 dual purpose with 850mca and 120ah at Costco for $130. I also found this site which is a good guideline to what CCA and MCA you need for your motor on the Deka battery site. http://www.dekabatteries.com/assets/base/0406MarineApplicationslayout.pdf Good luck.
  8. Yikes. Good young talent? O right I forgot Colin White and Thomas Chabot are the second coming of Gretzky and Orr according to the Homers in this town. Better enjoy this now Matt. Dark days are ahead for the Sens. Even the move downtown won't save them...... Especially when Karlsson leaves because you can't pay him market value. Hahaha.
  9. Matt your trolling skills are really something. You and I both know Ottawa sure as hell doesn't want to play the Leafs in the playoffs. Not having a home game for the entire series is something no Sens fan or player would look forward to. And we don't need to talk about our head to head playoff records. If you are not scared of that young Leafs team and the points they can put up.... you should be. Especially since Ottawa can't score or do anything on the powerplay. In all honesty though it would be great to actually rekindle the battle of Ontario. I live in Ottawa and would be at every game..... even if the Sens try and "block" Leafs fans from getting tickets. BIG GAME TONIGHT! GLG
  10. According to the newer model of that charger from CT is says it will charge Lead Acid, AGM, and Gel Cell batteries. So I think you should be good. Or if you have a few bucks to spare just pick up and NOCO G3500 and never worry about that type of battery you are charging again. Cheers,
  11. Agreed that is the "best" way. But not the easiest to do while under a boat and trailer. I've not had a properly done crimp and glued heat shrink fail thus far. Or even a couple of merretts with electrical tape would due just fine......
  12. I have re wired about 5 different trailers with princess auto kits without any issues. Very easy to do. Keep an eye on the princess flyer for when they come on sale. The most important part is to make sure you use good connectors and good heat shrink. Submersible Low Profile LED Trailer Light Kit | Princess Auto or Submersible LED Trailer Light Kit | Princess Auto Shouldn't cost you any more than $100 (very high side) and a couple hours of your time. I assume this would save you a few bucks and it is very straight forward. Good Luck
  13. I have bough a few boats off of Kijiji in the past and the biggest thing I found was you have to be constantly checking to see what new listings have come up. I would say at least every hour. There are a lot of people looking for used boats at a decent price and they go fast. Sites that helped me find what I was looking for were: Kijiji Used Ottawa Craigslist Boattrader.ca Boattrader.com OFC Classifieds Walleye Central classifieds Last year I ended up finding a 2014 Lund 1675 Pro Guide for under half the price of a new one. The deals are out there, you just need to be diligent in searching for them.
  14. For just ice fishing there is no need for the DI. You need to be moving for it to have a good return. If you plan on using it for maybe back lake and trips and stuff as well as ice fishing the DI is great.
  15. It's early but already acquired For the soft water season - 2014 Lund pro guide 1675 - Minnkota Ulterra - Lowrance HDS 12 Gen2 touch For the hardwater season - 1998 Skidoo Touring SLE 500 Also headed to Mexico in 2 weeks. Not a bad start! Going to make 2017 count!
  16. I am not super familiar with Garmin so I am unsure of its features. I am sure they are great units. The new Birds which are the Helix models have autochart live right out of the box. 8 hours of free live mapping before you have to buy another card for more mapping. This comes with the Helix 9,10, and 12 models that have GPS obviously. Lowrance has insight genisis which you still have to upload to a website and then download it to a blank SD card. You can keep your content private or public with particular types of subscriptions. If you want live mapping the Birds seem to be have the edge there. But The Garmin could be just as good.
  17. Lots to consider. The new HDS Gen3 units are super nice. Lots of ability to customize and tweak every setting on the unit. But you will pay for that. Close to 5k for an HDS 12 with structure scan. If you don't need all of the bells and whistles you can always look at the hook series as well from Lowrance. You can get a decent deal on one with a Nav+ card if you wait for the right deal. I believe all new Lowrance products are equipped with Chirp as well for their standard sonar. I have owned an Elite 7 HDI, Hook 7, and really liked the units. Only real complaint was the processor had a tough time keeping the map moving smooth on the units at higher speed. But you won't have that issue if you go with the HDS units. Lots of good stuff coming out with the Humminbirds as well though. I think at this point it's a Chevy Ford thing. Good luck.
  18. 39 hours. These guys catch some big fish.
  19. Nice looking report. You guys sure do well in the fall on those crawbugs. Beauty smalljaws.
  20. Regardless of how this game finishes. 3 things are apparent with the Leafs. 1. We are going to have lots of speed and skill upfront 2. Our D obviously needs a few more pieces 3. Andersen is not the tender we are looking for. Exciting team to watch though lol!
  21. Heading to the game tonight in Ottawa to watch the boys play. There is much improvement to be made on the D side but we should be exciting upfront. No expectations again this year.... it will be interesting to see what all these young players will be able to do. Go Leafs.
