  1. I bet you would, but I doubt anyone's willing to give them away. It's one thing to ask for help but to not even be polite about asking for such info seems kinda rude...
  2. lots of spots around there. Pick one and give it a go. Try some different lures and find out whats working.
  3. Looks like an excellent day, I'm jealous.
  4. You should have acted all concerned and asked the guy if he had already eaten some of it and told him to go to the hospital if he had. But then again maybe you're not as big a jerk as me Anyway it's great to see them out.
  5. No, the lake I'm talking about is close to South River and Sunridge.
  6. hey everyone, I looking at booking a campsite at Mikisew provincial park in a weeks time and I'm trying to find a little info about the fishing. I'm been doing some research but having a tough time as there are a lot of eagle lakes in Ontario and I'm not sure if I'm getting the right info. I will be fishing mostly out a kayak or canoe. I'm assuming it's mostly bass, pike and walleye in there. Does anyone have any experience fishing this Eagle lake they'd be willing to share? Thanks
  7. So this is the leafs third goalie in the last 4 years that will set the world on fire. Raycroft and Toskola were both supposed to be incredible and would lead the leafs to the cup, according to leaf fans anyway. Then they actually played games and look what happened. This new goalie will be mediocre too. Leafs will battle for last spot in the east. And they could get dinged for tampering though i doubt they'll lost a first rounder. Burke had a lot of good things fall into his lap in Anaheim and he may find it tougher in Toronto. The garbage won't be the only thing stinking in TO this fall.
  8. Be sure to try right across from the Eiffel tower. I've heard that's a hot spot too.
  9. I know it's fun to fight a big fish but purposely fighting a fish longer than you need to is one of the worst things you can do for a fish. Fish build of huge amounts of acid from exerting all the energy and although they swim off they will often die a short time later.
  10. Agreed with the others. If you practiced good catch and release tactics the fish should have a good chance of survival despite the hooking.
  11. I'm also finding it a little slow so far this year. I've noticed that most of the fish I've caught have hit soon after the lure hits the water. It seems they'll hit if I land it right in front of them, but they don't seem willing to chase anything down. I suspect this is b/c the water is still a little cold.
  12. No one is going to give up their secret spots so the best thing to do is to pick a spot and giver a go. The dam at Caledonia is a start, but is usually busy. If you're willing to spend the time you should be able to find some nice spots in that area. The baits Rich mentioned are a good start, don't be afraid to throw a topwater from time to time.
  13. Dang, I should have been born a few years earlier. If I get 1 fish over 18" I'm happy, and any more are a bonus.
  14. What happened in 85?
  15. Ya I heard this as well and I think that it's a great idea. In previous years while fishing on derby weekend I've seen some pretty poor carrying containers though I suspect most people do make the effort to transport fish safely. But for a river based tourney that runs from Belwood to Paris I don't understand why they don't have more than 1 measuring station. All you need is a reliable person with a tape measure.
  16. Keep in mind that not everyone who views your posts is a member of the site. Many are just lurkers who aren't registered members.
  17. My reasoning for avoiding it is I feel it's very bad for the fishery. It's great they make it a catch and release tourney only but having people cart bass back and forth to the weigh station is very stressful and I suspect a large number don't return to the river alive. Keeping fish for hours in white bucket and bags is no good, which is what too many people do. They need to add a few additional weight in stations so fish don't need to be transported all around the watershed. But that's just my opinion. Hopefully you and your kids have a good time, the weather looks good.
  18. You and me both. I had a canoe trip planned until I remembered this. I'll be heading elsewhere now.
  19. If they are wet at all there's a good chance the colors will run (ie gulp). I've kept dry ones together without any problems but only for short period of time. Though sometimes you create really interesting color patterns when plastics run together.
  20. Exactly. Larger fish always have higher levels of toxins in them.
  21. If you're worried about durability the ugly stick lite at canadian tire is around that price. I used one when i started getting into fishing and they're good for the $. Don't think you could break the thing without trying.
  22. So true, hit one fish and you don't want to throw anything else.
  23. You may be able to get the odd one off the piers but unfortunately you'll have to wait until the fall when the fish start to return to the river. It's very unlikely you'll find any larger fish hanging around this time of year. I agree with Bill about the water temps as well. Trout are very sensitive to the warm water this time of year, especially the younger fish like you're catching.
  24. genetic deformity
  25. Well knowing how the leafs operate I suspect they're trading him for Chris Chelios and the rights to sign Owen Nolan and Gary Roberts. That sounds like a good leafs trade: a good, reasonably younger player for a couple of playoff warriors (who of course are useless in the new NHL and when your team doesn't make the playoffs) I hope you leaf fans really enjoy trout fishing. Cause you certainly won't be watching playoff games in May for many years!
