  1. Man, I couldn't imagine the nieve people that actually fall for these things, I feel sorry for them.
  2. You got some good info here, these guys know there stuff, it's amazing how you can gain years of knowledge on this site in minutes.
  3. I mostly use 20lbs braided line and have never had it break yet, It bends the jig hook before the line breaks. However it cuts very easy on sharp objects and is highly visible in the water, so I always go with usually a 20lbs fluorocarbon leader of 3-4 feet usually that is invisible and can handle some sharp objects, just check it for nicks once in a while. But the superlines will cut like butter when they hit something sharp (teeth or rocks etc..) so they are not good leaders.
  4. I think that's great when B&B's or lodges and guides work with each other, would be good for both of you.
  5. Very sad when people go before there time, I'm glad you got to spend some good time with her that you will remember.
  6. I woke up today to look out the window and see a big blizzard (in Parry Sound area) and already herd the ambulance fly by once so far. Just a heads up to be safe on the roads they are looking bad up here.
  7. Keep us posted on how shes doing Lew, I'm sure she'll be 100% physically in no time. The mental issue of feeling safe on the roads in another thing. Living on hwy #69 I've seen some bad things, it's a death trap, but they have been working on the new highway for some time, it's a slow process. Anything can happen I use to laugh at those moose signs you see up north, until my sister and her best friend hit one 4 years ago and were lucky to walk away with bumps and bruises, lost teeth, and a hoof print on her forehead.
  8. Hopefully you can salvage those parts once you can find your way in.
  9. You should print that out on the back of that musky photo, like a baseball rookie card. I'll trade you for the Pete Maina rookie card.
  10. You'll find it. But it's easy to add and remove weight on any lure to get the depth so don't worry to much, the action of the lure is what it's all about, it will take time to find your favorite actions to, nothing beats time on the water.
  11. I really don't know all the names of the baits on the market, but I do make my own crank-baits. Basically you will want the baits with the biggest lips you can find. The angle of the lip, the speed your trolling, your line diameter, and trolling with the wind or against it will all effect the depth. There is no guide, you will have to test each lure your self to know exactly what you need, because sometimes you will have to go slower and use a thicker line and in that case the only way would be to add weight. Hope that helps, no rule of thumb but usually the biggest lipped lures will dive the deepest.
  12. Oh man, that's just wrong.
  13. There are a few that get to 30', but if they don't you can just use a 3way swivel and add weight accordingly to reach your desired depth. I also use floating lip-less minnows behind bottom bouncers sometimes.
  14. I don't think it's healthy to have no trust in others, but a back up plan is a good idea because you really never truly know who to rely on, including family sometimes. A man of his word goes a long way, if I shake someones hand it's a contract in my book. As far as forum friends, I think it's a good way to meet people, but I wouldn't rely on them in need. I do believe there are class act people on this site however that are willing to help complete strangers and it says a lot of your character and I like to think I fit in that category if I have the ability to help others.
  15. Nice fish. Did you bring your hockey stick ? coulda played a little around your hut.
  16. I guess it's not to technical, just fun, because the smallmouth and largemouth are in the same category to, I'm guessing a largmouth will easily win.
  17. Looks good to me.
  18. The old biological clock is going to be messed up.
  19. Did you try to pm the guys you're waiting for. I think they jumped ship.
  20. Those mudpuppies are getting popular, I had no idea what they were until the 3rd one posted on this site. They do look like awesome bait. Nice eye.
  21. Those rods can be handy at times, I got a 5 piece fly rod in a small case, It's good when you're walking though the bush or camping.
