I use them during the ice season when I fish pike. Depending on the clarity of the water,clear, I will use maggots,if it,s stained I will go with small pin heads.

Good point Cliff. The permission is for you,not the whole gang. Also make sure you have WRITTEN PERMISSION.Keep this on you at all times.

By you getting the property for fishing and not hunting,I would say thats a great step. Sharing your harvest of trout is the next step.Hey,it may not lead to a hunting spot but it is the right thing to do. I share the kills off the land I hunt with the owner.It took me a couple of years to get permission from him,but it has been worth it.Grouse,turkey,deer wabbits. His brother, who has the property beside him will not let me hunt on it,he will let no one. It aint him really it,s his mrs,s. Man does he have prime big buck property. Oh wait those are his cows Be patient,I would think a year or two and you may have yourself a new friend and a place to hunt turkeys.

J/K Good point, but Im sure this lake is being tested as well, as lake Simcoe shinners are transported all over aswell.I have seen the Erie boys up here with thier trucks and tanks taken them from the Barrie marina when they come in. Cliff that happen to us one year aswell.Fished perch the one day,the next it was open. There was over 12 inches of ice that day,but it was starting to honey comb.

Here in the bay,there is a warm water outlet from the sewage plant.It is posted on the land both at the Tiffen boat launch,the fountian and the Barrie Marina. One year there was even a guy that went in even with open water visual. Un marked hut holes are also out there.

Maybe I should send that into him.LOL
