That mad me laugh. But there is evidence that some animals do "grieve". Thats a whole other story though. Humans are very arrogant about what animals do and don't feel, maybe it makes us feel better about the way we treat them. The problem is on the one had we say don't assign human traits to animals, but then we try to judge an animals behaviour based on our behaviour. Makes no sense. Regarding the fish, do they feel pain, I don't know. They sure as hell are going to feel the pressure though which I am sure is not real comfortable. Not sure why some people are getting so bent out of shape on this. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even teachers.

From what I can see, it would appear that it is not legal, but people do it anyway. That about sums it up. You asked an emotional question, what did you really expect you would get in the way of answers?
-
Yes it is on Discovery.
-
From what I have read, it is not legal. A farmer can shoot a dog only if it is threatening livestock. A dog is not classified as livestock so the rules Terry mentioned are not applicable. But I could be wrong.

Yup, and he already had deep vein thrombosis last season which he was lucky to survive when it went into his lung. He was not a picture of health. Still he was a character.

Hard Water Fishing - Father Daughter Duo Style
Dutchy replied to Leecher's topic in General Discussion
Nice perch, gotta love those jumbos I have to say though Leechman, I would not have thought you would be a Disturbed fan. Personally I think their great, seen them 5 times in concert. Nice video for sure. -
I'll go the other way on this, I saw them in London and thought they were absolutely awful. Axl cannot sing anymore and moves around like he has arthritis. And for sure there was a backing track for Axl. The band while very competent are simply session musicians (yeah I know Tommy Stinson was in the Replacements). GNR seem very irrelevant now. The new songs apart from the song Chinese Democracy are abysmal and they played way too much from that album. Just my opinion though

Ryan, Not questioning the deal, but what the doc above said. After drilling 5 or 6 holes I could barely lift my arms. I tried the old guys 6 inch auger and was through the same ice in about 20 seconds. So, I am just guessing the blades are dull. BTW, whats the ice like on DC? We need to head there for a day of panning and perching. Doug.
-
It seems blunt to me, but thats just my opinion. We were going through 12 inches of ice and it would very often stick and would just be impossible to turn.

Scottish people sometimes use it, but more likely to say "good fer you".

And you'll pay through the teeth for it as well........ Not much that can be done for glaucoma, the cells that regulate fluid balance (and therefore pressure) in the eyeball are screwed up. Removing the eye will make no difference to his quality of life and he will be back to normal in no time. Animals bounce back real fast.

I'd like to go fishing in San Diego

Most of them are on youtube.

Beautiful looking fish. Looks like a quality fishing afternoon. I dropped my camera in the Maitland and it had a fuzzy screen for awhile, but dried out eventually. Pity, I really wanted to get a new camera too, but oh well, I cannot justify it to myself no matter how I try

Transit strikes should be OUTLAWED - NF
Dutchy replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
It simple, if you are paying $40 for your bus pass, then a 15% increase would be about $5-6. If you are paying $79 for a bus pass, then it is $11-12. That is, there is not one price for riding the bus in London. The majority of users (students) pay less than I or you would as adults. So it maybe a 15% increase across the board, but it is not at the same dollar amount as not every bus pass costs the same amount of money. It depends on how much you pay for your bus pass. For example, 100 people paying $40 = $500 extra cash from 15% increase. 100 people paying $79 = an extra $1000 from 15% increase So I am guessing that a 15% increase across the board taking into account that the majority of users do not pay the full adult fare = cost of compensation package. Hopefully that makes sense. The total dollar amount that is brought in by the increase depends on the % of people who pay full fare versus the % of people who don't. -

It might be a needed service, but that does not mean that there should be huge salary increases just because the drivers and union think they should get one. The job is what it is, if they don't like it, go get a different job. What they are doing is pure blackmail. "If you don't give me what I think I should get I won't do my job". I have no sympathy for it at all. There are tons of people out of work who would jump at the package these guys have, but no it isn't enough for them. And your point about the 15% increase.........If a current bus pass is $79 then it is going to go up by 15% to cover the costs. That is going to be about an extra $12-13. BUT not everyone pays full fare (Pensioners, students, children), so a 15% increase in those fares won't be nearly as much. So when you factor in everything, then it probably is what is required to cover the increase in the compensation package. -

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but the point he makes is correct. Holding an entire city hostage while turning down an offer most people would accept is crazy. I admit, I earn a much higher salary than these guys do, but I have never had an 8% pay increase, never mind 15%. Get into the real world here. The LTC has said it will have to increase transit fares by 15% to match the offer they want. Its simple economics. Everyone who has to use the buses gets screwed to keep 350 drivers happy. Not real fair (no pun intended). The money has to come from somewhere and in the end someone will always suffer in some other form (tax-payers). The economy sucks, lots of people are out of work. These drivers need a reality check. This is not the time to demand huge wage increases. Accept what is a good deal and wait for the economy to get better. I don't mean this to sound nasty, but they drive buses. End of story. They don't save people's lives or run into burning buildings. Salaries have to match job level. Its very simple economics.
