    Read the books or watch the DVDs by Dan Keating....Including Keating on Kings. Then book a charter - you will learn so much from these guys, so fast! That is a great start.

    I know some guys do and use leadcore or copper to get the lures down. Personally, I do not target deeper than 25-30' due to mortality concerns.

    The more power the better.....especially on windy days. I have an 80lb on my 16.5 Alumacraft and love the extra power. So, buy as much power as your budget will allow.

    Not trying to stir it up here, but for that length of boat, you may consider something with a wider beam.....
