If you're not in a rush....I'm betting that some of the boys would take you for a water test in the spring so that you can try out a few of the different rides.
Read the books or watch the DVDs by Dan Keating....Including Keating on Kings.
Then book a charter - you will learn so much from these guys, so fast!

I have an 80lb on my 16.5 Alumacraft and love the extra power.
So, buy as much power as your budget will allow.
