  1. Done. *starting to pray to the fishing God's now to win*
  2. humm, that map shows nothing for Oshawa and we all know there is a LOT of cougars there...
  3. I wish you the best Bernie, I do! I have tried a lot of ways to stop smoking but none have worked for me (inc. the new laser way). I just hope that you can forget or ignore that you ever smoked as that's your hook to go back to it. Not to sound rude, but it's the hook we (as a smoker) are all stung by. After all, if GCD can pull a hook out of his finger and keep on fishing for the rest of the day then maybe the smokers that want to stop can go through some short term (or so we hope) pain to get the goal done. My problem is I enjoy it to much to quit... Someday I will put a stop to it, someday... GOOD LUCK and I hope this time it works for you!! Geoff
  4. Cool pic's so far. Here is ours for this year. the pic says 2006 but the batt. died in the camera not to long ago and I just noticed the date now, lol... the SMILE one was a PITA if you ask me...
  5. I may not be from the Shawa but I'm close enough to get there quick, time permitting. I would be interested so I can learn while I wait to pick up my float set up. I'd just bring my spinning gear for the trip... PM me if you are going and feel like coaching/teaching someone some tricks. If I can make it, count me in.
  6. Same here. Yeah John you are there in the first few pages... maybe that's why the one woman has less items on then normal...
  7. got mine too, it was good. And our very own JohnF had his comment printed...
  8. is it STRIPER or STRIPER?
  9. LmAo!
  10. Ah HA, good to hear! TKS, as I have a low cost but good mono I use as backing now on all my other spinning and baitcasting reeels. pic's will be added as soon as I get the set up home. I'll PM all that are willing to help me out as it's in MY best interest to take any help offered. So you will be hearing from me... Oh and don't you mean ANY fishing is an incurable disease? It sure is for me, Bass, walleye, pike, panfish and now MORE! I swear I had golf clubs not to long ago but they must have gotten lost by all this fishing gear...
  11. thanks all! do you find that on a short float in the tight areas that you can just use mono as your main line with a good fluoro leader? I'm thinking like an 8LB or 10LB good mono as the main if that will work. I'll post a pic or few for you when I get my hands on the set up just so you can help me out with things (thanks in advance) as well as give me any idea of the age of this gear. thanks again all and I'm willing to get out there and give it a shot any time I can. With that said, I must talk to the wife and see what plans we have for us and the kids... Cheers! Geoff
  12. you may want to read this... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24878
  13. wow, very cool. thanks for posting that!
  14. Me, HAHAHA. I would just slow everyone down asking for help, tip's and tricks when it comes to float fishing... but thanks.
  15. very good clips there, thanks!!!
  16. thanks Kemper.
  17. yeah, those cougars are looking for a gobble-gobble too!
  18. thanks guys, any more comments are very welcome. Kemper, do you think Gangon's is going to be my best bet for a good deal around here?
  19. Hi all. Well with all these threads on float fishing and some real nice pic's you have got me wanting to give it a try. So my questions to all you float fishers out there is how often do you need to replace the floating line (main line?)? What's good to use for line(s)? I have access to a float set up but neither my father nor I know how old the set up is and how old the line is. We don't even know where the rod and reel came from as I asked him and he doesn't know. I just know I can get it from the cottage in 2 weekends when I go up. Any tip's on how to loop/cast with one properly? I can watch video's till my eyes bleed if need be. Or if anyone is willing to teach a not so old dog a new trick I would be thankful. Cheers. Geoff
  20. watch out for deer just North of Taunton Rd on Thickson Rd in Whitby as I have had a very close call and seen others there last week. Now, GCD, I said DEER not BEER...
  21. I just hope they win one in my life time. Did I mention I'm in my 30's and yet to see them do it since I have been alive? Yes I am a Leafs fan and I'll be there on the 28th yelling like a fool!
  22. I know! Either way, great report Justin. Keep'em coming...
  23. John, I did for a bit (less then a 2 hours but the unit had been off for 2 weeks) but it was a glitch tring to find it's location. The XOG is great! I still have my points marked where I went ice fishing last winter on this thing (yes this is a "car" GPS). It does a lot, has a bunch of options but if all you want is "turn left here" voice prompts then others out there do it for less. The XOG mounts on anything, has a build in batt. and can go most places where an std. car gps cannot (like in a boat with the Navi. map). in the end it's up to each user but the Gramin was not for me. Don't get me wrong they do make good stuff but it wasn't what I wanted/needed as the XOG was. Geoff
  24. dang! I just got up from my desk to go make some lunch and AHHHH, I see snow in the air out here in Brooklin ON.
  25. Lew, I like my Lowrance XOG and I got it at Radioworld as BPS was more and was not willing to sell it to me in the store at the same price as on the BPS web site. It's easy to use too. There are a few threads here on that unit as well if you feel like reading up on older posts. BTW, it was just a glitch in my thread... all is well now...
