Lloyd doesn't disappoint yas! Perfect getaway for some much needed time with the buds, Wayne. Hope time brings ya more of that. Wishing Jen well.

Solid eye lake I'm told. A cousin shares a camp on the lake and hunts moose in the fall there. Time of year you're going expect ANY kind of weather. Favorite jig colors of mine in order were, pink, pink/white, orange (for pike), white (pike & eyes) then chartreuse. Trolling with jigs is effective for find the spots on spots, then casting will get the dozens more once you're on 'em. For a first fly-in, I think you picked a good choice. Seen reports from there and the lake has some good sized pike too.

Defining life experience for ya BIG FISH! A pleasure to see just a glimpse of it in your report. Hope time brings you more chances like that one. Second pic was my favorite.

You've never disappointed ANY year at ANY time you've gone into the Gonk! Another enjoyable read, great pics and especially liked the fact that you were out there in that wind living it in a camp of tents and tarps. Pretty cool campfire story for years to come. -
Seriously great spring day of walleye action Dan and gang. Nice!

My wife gave me 8 years north... now she's enjoying 15 south. If after she wants to join me north again she's welcome too... if not... I'll see her November through April. One life dood!

I hear ya Mike. Totally! You and I should team up sometime, take on a place and see if we can get a dozen. Imagine the stress. lol. Will hopefully join ya one of these days, you know where I'd be happiest to do that. Rick... looking like August. Main Lodge and Tree again. Boss' orders.

Never knowing that people would fall out of a trip, it actually pays if you can wait sometimes Mike, as things do happen. Examples being, I remember when you asked me if I wanted to go and the price was $1500... now there's a deal at $1200. Had I known then... or last year, Eddie offered up some last minute specials for OFC'ers at a great rate too... It's the Skat people... good price offered and so loaded a pike fishery that even if they're on the spawn they'll be scarfing down your bucktail cheeseburgers while giving birth to millions of future trophy toothies. And, if you've never had a quality Solo meal, I'm sure you'll be treated to awesome all week. Sign on up!

The ice is flowing by Attawapiskat today. Spring break-up isn't officially over I'm told, but close. Cold water pike bite it will be. Good luck gang.

My summer vacations don't get granted and I'll leave my job. Easy-peezey... later dudes!

Sad, sad, sad indeed. Unbelievable really. RIP John.

It's weird you post this now. Earlier in the week I was given the DVD's, Alone in the Wilderness, Alaska: Silence and Solitude & The Frozen North. Plenty of footage with Dick. Loved his film, and only have The Frozen North left to watch tonight. Amazing his skills and final choice in his life.

That was an awesome find TJ. Thanks for popping that up.

Try not Dave. I hope to have some extra time in Yellowknife to get that chance, but to also hang out with a bud from the highschool days.

A friend of mine Andy will be fishing there first week of May. I imagine by mid May (maybe a little late for you) that the report will be in. I know he's really pumped about the day or two he has planned at Boca and has done enough research that I guess feels confident having booked with an outfit that regularily places well on the PTT. You know you're going PRIMETIME!!! Lucky man... it'll be a rush better than even that big ole wahoo you got back in the day.

I just saw that too. Thanks guys. Thanks OFC'ers. On cloud 9 right now and ready to get to planning the return to Plummer's Arctic paradise. I'll finally sleep tonight too. lol.

Never thought of that, but good idea Andy. YEP. Why not? I checked about 20 lakes off the site I know, and about 5 of them were right but wrong at the same time, the rest... right by knowledge....... I can't say that someone else didn't already go to that lake once upon a time, catch something, (or say they did) and report that a certain species is or is not in the lake. I don't know how many of the people working on the project, or the people who provided info for the project, got to fish every species in each lake they provided info for? I don't know if a known stocked speckle lake had inadvertently received other trout species, or maybe once upon a time been stocked with a different fish I don't know about, or, is or has been stocked privately, or once had a natural population believed to have died off, did die off, but is still being considered as a possible species in a waterbody. I can only guess as to the many ways info has been collected. In other words, the idea of look for yourself is probably best. Agreed. Use the map tool, prepare for a species, roll the dice and go fishing. Just like you almost do when you already know exactly what's in a lake to begin with. Hey kiddo... I'll give you the word but I want you to try and spell it first on your own. You get it wrong, we'll call you a failure and scrap the idea of spelling.

Enjoy the new ride Scott. You'll be ticketed on the 401 in no time ya speed demon. lol

Without reading 4 pages after the first post by Red and reply by Wayne... nuff said. -
I could just imagine the undertaking this would be for a few Ministry people, working on a project such as this to simply perfect the fish species list for the 44,000 (or even a 1/10th of that) lakes and rivers this Province has for us to enjoy. I remember the first day I got into a car to drive. I parallel parked effortlessly the first time, operated first the automatic then standard vehicles with flawless perfection, and by the end of the day won the Indy 500 and Dakar Rally Race and was given the Stanley Tools Cup as being the best automechanic and driver on the planet. It's new. It's a new tool. I saw some mistakes, same as I might in my kids math homework. All the material is there for them to put 2+2 together perfectly in math, but yet it's new to the kiddies so they make a few mistakes and learn by it. Who's to say that the MNR in this case won't be happy to see some up-to-date, personal and/or objective feedback to help tweak this project to a higher standard? They may not be dealing with 2+2 in every single little puddly-pond case. I like it. I like the tool. I like the idea of it. I would like to see such tools help scatter people across the land, so that maybe hard hit lakes get a bit more of a break, while lakes that could use a little pressure to help balance the Provincial angler's supply and demand take on some new life. I like that there are some mistakes seen at the onset for this project as well. If someone cares enough to want info corrected, it may just lead to more communication between the users and protectors of the resources. I wanna ask them if it's for real that Otter Lake outside of Smiths Falls actually has brook trout? I like what Roy said too. Like the BackRoads Mapbooks that can be a little off too, or often have old info and/or not all species listed, this online version of that idea is just another tool (not a Bible) to help us through our fishing lives.

First time I went we stayed at Conchal but were picked up to head south to fish out of Tamarindo. From Tamarindo our boat continued south for about 40 minutes full speed then we veered out into the Blue Zone. 200 - 300 - 400 - continental shelf... suddenly 2000fow just like that. First thing we saw, a sailfish bill was just bobbing out of the water like a stick swirling in a drain. Date was April 4rth 2000n'sumthin. That time of year the better billfishing is south of Papagayo but you will still get the odd one in the northern part of the country. Marlin, tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi are available but hit and miss. Inshore species like grouper, roosters and jacks are always around. Average prices for a full day deepsea in a 22-24ft Whaler... $700US. You can probably get 'em for $600. Inshore half days go for about $300 for 4 hours. Pacific Costa Rica beaches aren't like those in the Carribean. Can be lots of current, drop quick, colder water and dark. From Tamarindo to Flamingo it's like that. Do yourself a favor and roll the dice on the deep sea or inshore. In two deepsea and two inshore our boats have been lucky enough to catch, marlin, tuna, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, mackeral, amberjack, bonito and needlefish. Fun, fun, fun!!!

I got work all weekend Wayne. First of 3 today was just the perfect pace. Didn't have to cartwheel through it, just a nice crawl with a couple somersalts. Next friday I'm hoping to wake from a nightshift and find a message in the inbox. Then it'll be backflips.
