LOS ANGELES, CALIF.—Researchers say the millions of sardines that were found floating dead in a Southern California marina this week tested positive for a powerful neurotoxin. University of Southern California biologist David Caron said Friday that high levels of domoic acid were found in the fish scooped from the Redondo Beach marina. He said critically low oxygen levels in the water caused the sardines to suffocate, but it’s possible the toxin distressed them off the coastline and caused them to crowd into the marina. Domoic acid is often found in the stomach of fish that have been feeding on plankton during toxic algae blooms. Caron’s lab is working to determine if the poisoning was caused by a toxic algae bloom spotted off Redondo Beach on Wednesday.

Hanging out with my 3 year old daughter.... Since the weather is really bad down here I decided that my little one and I would curl up and watch a few Disney Classics until its time to go to Nana's and eat pancakes for a belated pancake Tuesday... My wife is away for the next 7 days and we're home alone and bonding over the March Break! I cherish these moments since I'm not around as much as I'd like to be...and she's growing faster than I could ever imagine! Have a good one guys!

Wow...at least Japan was ready for it. Apparantly the BBC news was saying that the best place in the world to be during and earthquake and tsunami is japan. There emergency preparedness is beyond any other country. Everyone who has a cell phone gets a notification that an earthquake is coming... Its sad though. I wonder who is next? The entire pacific rim is under a warning
