I prefer Power Pro as well. I spooled one of my bass outfits with Fire Line and had all kinds of trouble with it - a lot of fraying and it wasn't due to dragging across rocks and such. This just could have been a bad batch or something. I've never used it since (Switched to Stren for my bass outfits). Now, my step-mother uses Fireline on her bass and ultra-lite outfits and just loves it .. and doesn't want to use anything else.

Looking forward to meeting my Pennsylvania brothers and sisters. We've arriving Wednesday and leaving the following Wednesday. So, we'll have some time. Sharing a ride with Cooper won't be a problem as I'm bring our two girls along as well. One is a yellow lab and the other is an Airedale Terrier. Even the dogs will have someone to pal around with, so we'll have to make some introductions. Emma and Kia got along great with Spiel's dog Brooke and they enjoyed running around and chasing each other. See you in a little more than a week.

You've done some great work on the site Kevin & Leslie. Lots of nice features and some that other sites just don't have. Will be good to get more pics posted in all the categories you have. Well done and I'm anxious to see it grow.

Favorite BIG largemouth bass lure-presentation?

When I fish for Bass on the Rideau, i get into the heavy weeds. 1). Early morning and late evening is great for top water action. I typically use frogs or jitterbugs. Nothing like a big blow-up on topwater by a very hungry and heavy LM. 2). Durign the day, we wind-drift over the weedbeds with a Florida Rig 6" worm. Basically jig it as we drift across the weeds. We've had some pretty good success with this method. -
Famous last words ... "Hey Guys ... check this out". People like that will always be around .... we're surrounded by 'em

Yeah .... saw two of those suckas flying over the Rideau this past week. Used to see a lot more, but I guess they have moved on.

Only one or two of those we filleted still had roe in them. We were basically fishing about 20' from the shore line and in about 8 - 12 FOW. Most were along rock drop-offs. We tried to avoid known weed beds along the shore for fear of getting into where the bass may be nesting. We did catch some nice sized bass, but they were all released boat side, while still in the water. Basically we were using a small jig head and a 3" Berkley Power Bait. I primarily used pumpkinseed color. They seemed to go for the brownish colors best. Although we did have a little success on while and chartreuse. Brown seemed to be the color of choice for those in camp that week. Most of the time, we just dropped the bait over the side and drifted along the drop-off. Of course, Dad and I went out late in the evening for a little action and guess who forgot to take his camera. Picked up a 30" pike on one of these little jig heads. Fortunately he was caught in the side of the mouth and somehow managed to wrap the line around his mouth - preventing a bite off. But - we had a number of pike bite off the lighter weight lines.

Well, my father and step-mother headed north a couple weeks ago and, having some unscheduled vacation time this year, I decided to drive up for an extended week-end. Long drive for only a few day's fishing, but it's not gonna be that many years before Dad stops making the trip. So, I thought I'd surprise him with a last minute phone call to the camp and spend a few days together. Whether we caught anything or not wasn't really the purpose of this trip. (but the crappy gods smiled upon us). There's some good bass fishing in this system, but unfortunately, we still had a few weeks to wait. We could see a few very nice specimens on the beds just off the docks. Come June, they'll make some fisherman/woman very happy. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but we did manage to catch some very respectable fish. Had enough for a camp fish fry and even a batch to freeze and back home again. Yup - I'm tired of cleaning fish now. The weather before I arrived was a mixed bag of wind, rain, and even some hail. So I thought some good ole USA weather with me. Cool evenings, Daytime in the 60's/70's and NO rain. Excellent weather for the entire 4 days. I joked around that I brought the weather with me and would be taking it back again. We'll when I called back up today to let everyone know I made it home safe and sound, the current weather: Cloudy and rain drops, with a front moving through later today. I was informed that I will pay for this when I return in September. One of the day's catch: One more day's catch: Some were nice-sized and quite a bit larger than my hand. We caught quite a few, but only kept the nicer ones Ah yes: Nothing like a fish fry: This one is for my friend and board member Steve_Paul. Here ya go bud ... are ya homesick yet ?? We swung around the back of the island to see if we could find your brother's place, but we couldn't see the place with the moose out back. Maybe next time. Good luck to ya when you head up in a few weeks: Looking forward to the West Arm in less than three weeks.

Time sounds pretty close - maybe a tad less. Of course, I'm going on my memory (ha ha). Once you turn off Rt. 69 and head back Hartley Bay Road, it is only paved for a short distance. I was thinking it was about 7 miles of dirt road then to the marina. It's kinda twisting and turning going back and many places were like driving over a washboard, so you'll want to take it slow and easy going back there. Now, this was a number of years ago, so maybe things have improved a bit. Once you get to the marina, they will back your trailer down the launch for you and I typically gave the guy a tip for doing it. At least, that is what they did back when I launched from there. Probably some kind of fee for parking there for the day.

Roy is just too fast. I recall Irishfield having this same problem a little while back and had just found it when Roy replied. Glad you're good to go.

That's it !!!! Cancel the whole thing.

Indeed it is DoubleHeader. Lucky guy is there for two weeks. Maybe I'll just have to send Patsy and the girls home after the first week and hitch a ride back to PA later on. Sounds like one of those plans that just ain't gonna fly here at home.

Welcome aboard Kyle. I too have a goal of landing a musky this year. 3 years of trying just ain't cutting it. Best of luck to ya and be sure to post of pic of her.

Add 2 more. Patsy, myself, and our two four-legged girls. Arriving Wednesday June 24 and checking out Wednesday July 1. I think we're in Cabin 5 ... somewhere along the gravel roadway. I hear we have another group coming in from PA this year - cabin 11 if I remember correctly (Wonder if a OFC shore lunch in possible for Friday ?)

Man that sucks guys. I know a couple pups that were really looking forward to some good ole fashion ear scratchin'

Looking forward to it Boss. I may be heading up to the Rideau system next week. Long drive for a few days, but my father is up there now and thought we'd spend a little time together fishing for crappie and pike. Too dang bad bass don't come in for another few weeks or so - but I'll get them when I return to the Rideau in September. Post a lot of pics and make me homesick will ya. Best of luck.

Can't come soon enough for me.

Good stuff Cliff. Maybe us old boys just try to complicate this whole fishing thing, while the little ones are just fine with the basics. Looks like she had a greate day.
