  1. Race became an issue the minute you noticed he was of colour. If race is not an issue why bring it up? Or are you trying to say you would drown him even if he was white? I just made my last post to this "fishing" site.
  2. Geez, that kid's a cutey! Way to go. Jim
  3. Hey good news! I just read the manual and there is a steering tension adjustment on the motor (page 53 Dan). By cracky, I'll have at 'er tomorrow. .........reading the manual, who'd of thunk it? Thanks all. Jim
  4. Hi All, I took the new boat out for the first time yesterday (it is a 2008 Fish Hawk) All went very well but for the fact that I thought the steering was very “heavy” (like two hands required). Will the steering loosen up after some use (there is no tension adjustment on the steering that I know of)? Can some of my fellow "new boat" guys help me out on this? Thanks, Jim
  5. Thought provoking as usual.
  6. I posted on this very subject a while ago (a month or so ago?) and there were tons of responses. Use the search feature and yee shall find.
  7. Hey Gerritt, My brother-in-law had the machine and didn’t like it so he had surgery that moved his bottom jaw forward (to open up the airway). It has been hell ever since (a botched surgery, or two now) but he is in constant pain and has been from the get-go. He wishes that someone would have explained it better before he made the decision. It was a drastic step, so my advice is to give the CPAP some time before chucking it in. Two of my friends have one and it has helped them a great deal. My one buddy brings his on fishing trips, so naturally we call him Darth (Vader). If it is any consolation, we are all made more or less the same (from the same set of prints) so you are in good company. I think that this is one of those things that someone would like a do-over on. Good luck
  8. Wonderful news! It seems everytime I turn around these days I am hearing awful cancer news, so it was great to read of your good news. Best wishes to your father. Jim
  9. Yes one would hope, but by the number of people I see doing it, it is not. Not smoking in an elevator or over the salad bar should have also been common sense. I guess it’s obvious where I stand on this.
  10. Wow man! You guys are hard core. No wonder you post so late, you're just getting in from fishing!!
  11. Mine is dead quiet (same motor as Dan's)
  12. This topic may be dead, but how do you not have to pay Cdn. taxes? Pray tell
  13. Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Jim
  14. So how about putting the foot pedal inside of a giant zip lock bag or using a key fob controller instead of changing the motor type. Holy doodle, talk about false dichotomies.
  15. I learned more on this thread than I have ever known about fishing for pan fish. Thanks guys!
  16. It was a kind offer none-the-less Thanks.
  17. Hi All. This is going to sound a bit weird, but I am looking for a safe place to drive my new boat. Live in Caledonia but the water above the dam still has trees sticking out of it and none of the public access ramps (at least the ones that I drive by) are open yet. I am looking for a place to work the motor through its break in period before taking it up north at the end of the month. Fishing at this point is almost secondary, but it would be nice to wet a line as well. I know that there is a lovely public ramp at Pier 4 Park in Hamilton, but I am not sure that my boat is big enough for scooting around the bay (16’ Fish Hawk). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Jim
  18. He knows how to market; my mouth waters over every one of his batter commercials. I will try it this summer for sure. About this mornings show though, it seemed way more watch-able than when he is stuck talking to a guide for the entire show. I'd think seriously about having the kid on more. And you guys are right, it is one of the better ones available (on Global, I like Charlie Wray too).
  19. Hi All, I just wanted to say that watched Cronzy’s show this morning and enjoyed it thoroughly. He was on with his kid, fishing for fall Smallmouth in Ontario. It was packed with how to info (the kid is a joy to listen to), instead of the usual Cronzy asking the name of the lodge or the lake 1200 times in a show. I thought the show seemed different than most. Jim
  20. Hey Gerritt, The Daiwa reel that I own (EXC 1500 Exceler) is 5.00 cheaper at LeBaron than at All American. I didn’t do an in depth study to compare all prices, and I admittedly wouldn’t know a Stradic if one bit me, but it is clearly not a slam dunk on all items. Jim PS. I have done further research and found the Stradic to be about 50.00 cheaper at All American. God bless America, God bless Gerritt, and God bless us, everyone.
  21. I am wondering if it takes up more space when people “quote” pictures. That is to say someone will post a report with 10 pictures, and then someone else hits the “quote” button to reply and adds the line “Nice Fish”. This re-posts the ten pictures. Are people generally aware that they can edit the return quote to eliminate the pictures or unwanted text? Or am I way off, and this practice does not effect band width usage?
  22. I am not sure what the "tips line" does. I mean would you have called and left a description "two non OFC-ers with a box of worms" or asked them for their names so you could report them? Does the MNR have a donut shop full of officers waiting to spring into action over crimes such as this? You did your bit; you made them aware of a situation that you knew about that they did not. And, you fished by the rules, so you can sleep tonight. I think that it ends there.
  23. That's a the kind of story that will get passed on and inspire future fishermen for generations. Thanks. Jim
  24. Does anyone remember “The Outdoor Store” in Hamilton? It was at Parkdale and Main (I think). Man I loved that store. I have not ever been to a Labaron store, but based on their catalogue I would imagine it looks much the same as the way I remember this store. Jim
